If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, the next Shades of Gray will get bad reviews, or a great indie film bombs, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan". But when I say that one little old superhero film will get 33% on RT, well then everyone loses their minds.

Man..

One hour to go. I have enjoyed most of Zack Snyder movies and I'm keeping my expectations low so I think I'll be fine. See you guys in the OT

At this point I am wondering why WB didn't just have an embargo til release day.

Did they think critical reception would not be as bad is it is?

Release Day embargo is sketchy, but it's got to do less damage than what is happening right now.

Word is they feared a bad reception. I suspect they feared, at worst, the film would die like Martha and Thomas Wayne. It'd be ugly, but not the worst death possible. Instead, the movie is going out like Jason Todd. Probably a nightmare scenario for them. I can't imagine how stressful it must be at Warners right now.

Except Iron Man at 94%. Guardians of the Galaxy at 91%, Captain America: The Winter Soldier at 89%, and The Avengers at 92% come close.

Unless you are talking your personal opinion or perhaps general nerd opinion, in which case you do you, man.

RT % scores, yes, avg critic scores and metacritic scores, no. TDK got an 8.6 avg RT critic score and an 82 MC. Avengers got 8 and a 69, Iron Man got 7.7 and 79, Guardians got 7.8 and 76, Winter Soldier got 7.5 and 70. Those are all really good scores and nothing to scoff at but TDK did significantly better.

Look on the bright side, we're still a good ways away from Batman and Robin territory

yeah but batman and robin was so bad they scrapped all plans and rebooted with nolan

BvS is not good enough to enjoy, but it's not bad enough that all plans will be scrapped. we're stuck with the snyderverse for another 10 years.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
Maybe we treat Nolan universe Batman separate from Snyder universe Batman. Nolan directs Superman reboot.

If Suicide Squad is fantastic then they *might* be able to reboot it there even. They could keep Affleck and the parts that work and reboot the rest. Based on Man of Steel, they need a much lighter version of Superman. His movie should be a much more inspired tone than the Gotham side. That's assuming WB will reboot, which isn't likely to happen unless BvS just tanks commercially.

Yep. TDK works as a really good comic book movie AND just a really good movie in general. That trilogy could be the first time Batman appeared anywhere and TDK would have still been praised highly. Ledger's work as Joker in particular was just amazing to watch. It is by far my favorite comic book movie followed by Batman Begins. After that it gets a little trickier.

The DC universe should have started from Batman Begins from the start.

Let's not get too confident and curse it into the Monsters University tier of Pixar sequels.

....Monsters University was fantastic. A better and more emotional origin story than any DC has tried in film in the past millennium.

WB execs are probably calling Christopher Nolan right now and apologizing for ruining all that good will he created for Batman

LOL They gave him hundreds of millions of dollars to make Inception and Interstellar. They ain't got to apologize for shit. Nobody is dishing out those kinds of budgets for original works.

For those who wants to know Double Toasted's review

Well...

Korey gave BvS a:

High Rental

Martin:

Low Rental

Korey 2.0:

Zak Snyder is to Superhero movies as Uwe Boll is to Videogame movies... Kinda

Nah, Snyder would be a great asset to a movie if he was the art department lead or something; Uwe Boll would probably contribute nothing to anything.

Neither should ever direct, I agree though.

Batman Forever is at 41%. Nolan saved the Batman IP from the abyss of mediocrity and ridicule, only for Hack Snyder to plunge it back in. He must come back.

Haha so true.
The funny thing is that they both get defensive about their movies... If Zak challenges a critic to a boxing match, don't be surprised.

Hopefully him vs faraci. I'd watch that on a ppv even

And we will get our first great videogame movie with ass creed
