Galactic Fork

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...
It's so depressing, I found a cool planet with TONS of life (as in all together in one place), some of it really huge, but the Sentinels are set to aggressive so they mob me the second I step out. Boo. But in the next system I did get to snap a picture of this thing.

Here it is closer so you can see the tiny tiny wings it flaps to stay a few feet off the ground.

Yes keep them.
At the end of the Atlas Path. If you have your 10 stones still saved up you have a choice to create a star system. If you chose to create the star system the game tells you it has just been born on the edge of the galaxy and another player will spawn their at the start of their adventure.

So with this path will you
never get to the center
?

And thanks. . but geez that's 10 spots gone from my inventory or ship :\

This is probably super obvious to everyone else, but what is that loud pulsing noise my suit sometimes makes supposed to be telling me?

That moment when you get your first fully translated sentence.

This game is so so addicting and it's only going to get better with future updates.

You will still get to the centre. After you finish the Atlas Path you have access to black holes. With an upgraded Hyper drive you move about 2000 LY closer to the centre traveling through a black hole and that's just with the first upgrade. The second takes you 4000 and the third I don't know because I haven't heard of anyone getting the blueprint yet.

And yeah those 10 spots I never knew I had... lmao.

can't believe how much I'm loving this new starter planet. The purple grass covering it is such a nice asset/procedural creation/whatever. After not seeing ONE planet on PS4 I'd call "lush" or even vibrant, my starter planet on PC is a paradise. Perfect climate and I have no desire to leave, grabbing drop pods and playing around with exosuit tech before even repairing my ship... probably going for the 100%, which I can see being unbelievably dangerous for OCD-types. Completely different experience than my start on PS4 either the first or second time. Just unreal. I guess a lot of people would consider this a bad thing. There certainly isn't a consistent start for every new player. I think it's incredible

So wait, the Atlas Path is actually a good part of the game? But I was told that this game shouldn't be about objectives and instead just explore. Ah hell.

Time for you to colonize that one planet

PC version, started out on a nice lush blue world. Jumped into the graphics settings, tweaked everything, restarted the game and... started out on a radioactive desert planet. I didn't realize it was going to re-roll. Too late now.. hehe.

Question: Is there a way to disengage the Pulse Drive once it's active? Like if I want to slow down before I crash head-first into the space station?

And there really doesn't seem to be a Fahrenheit switch anywhere that I can find.

Finally got to play it for several hours today.

It might be the worst game I played this generation?

You will get shit on but I agree completely, thank god for steam refunds.

There is hardly anything to do in this game and what little there is to do is not fun. It is literally fill up depleting slots in your inventory the game. Exploration does not feel fun at all either because all the planets are samey and there is nothing there to do except collect materials and talk to some terrible AI vendors.

Also the way the ship controls on PC with kb/m has got to be the worst vehicle control I have ever seen in my 25+ years of gaming.

No fahrenheit switch

To get out of your Pulse Drive, press the brake button(Using gamepad should be L2/LT)

This bus ride is painfully long. I've been thinking about the game all day. What I want to do next. What I want to focus on. Because that's really the most effective way to play the game. Well, for me, that is.

I can't just wander aimlessly. I usually begin each play session with a goal, and then set out to accomplish that goal. Although, last nights goal was a bust. I didn't want to leave my starter system until I found the last five creatures in my checklist, but I found all but two. Eventually I just wanted to leave. Mai my because I needed money for suit upgrades, and the moon I was on wasn't terribly lucrative.

That became my next goal: get them units!

I slowly crawled my way up to $250K before I had to call it a night. I did discover 9 more planets that seem very, very compelling.

My individual planet goals are simple since I'm playing as an explorer: land on new planet, check discoveries checklist, complete discoveries checklist, move on to next planet.

I get into all sorts of shenanigans while doing that simple checklist. It's been oddly addicting.

There's hardly an objective to the Atlas path. You just make your way to the next Atlas Interface 10 times. It was over in a flash for me.

Graphics on PC could use some love, but honestly... I actually really enjoy the game.

Played around on my starting planet (was very good) for a couple of hours and then decided to go into space, I got scared and went back down to my planet.

The universe is a scary place!

So I'm a few hours in, enjoyed myself so far but I think I might've reached the point of frustration.

The the game gonna be 'get warp fuel and go to point X' for the rest? I'd be down for it if the inventory was a little more forgiving. I know the limits are there so you need to focus on a style of play but I just hate needing to discard items, not use upgrades so you can have space, and not being able to deck out my multitool.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with this feeling? Also any info on how being a violent space pirates captain can work out, I shot someone down but got nothing from it, and I've only needed my gun to break down doors. I wanna be Han Solo dammit.

Got Star Beast while in the first system I jumped to of my own volition lol.
Going to be in this system a while. The planet has a scrooge McDuck amount of gold.

The only thing that helped me with that was deciding not to have reserves of every element I come across. Most elements are really common or can be had within 1 or 2 jumps. Only worry about your next upgrade.

Not being a packrat goes against every natural instinct for this game, but it helps so much. Using suit slots for upgrades makes traversal and survival much easier.
Then again I'm up to 36 slots on my suit and they're all full (of gold at the moment.)

Dumb question maybe.... But the planets are round so if I landed my ship and walked a straight line around the whole planet.... Would I return to my ship?
Yes - but wouldn't recommend. The distances are 1:1 scale - the only thing that isn't static is player speed - whether flying or walking; the obvious indicator being the time to destination - those are real seconds/minutes/hours/days...only the speed isnt to scale, but if it was, again, those would be/are actual time-frames.

Not sure its a glitch, but if you're going to warp - try going at a steady speed - pointing your recital at a space station beacon marker - then go to warp - you'll see the reverse time it takes to get back from where you originally warped from - it's all math

In one instance I noticed it said 5 days to destination, and that was without hyper-driving.

Find those triangle shaped machines on planets and spend units at them to add another slot to your exosuit.

Save up to buy a proper massive ship with lots of space.

I just got the blueprint for the V3 and im still on the lookout for V2.
The best way to find them is to find one of the orange glowing things that tell you where places are at the cost of a bypass chip. Make 5 or 6 chips and put them all towards finding colonial outposts. You will get them from the console in the center if you get the question right.
Good luck.
I'm back to confirm that a v3 chip will open everything EXCEPT the v1 debris containers.

So if you find V3 Blueprint before V2 don't worry about V2! YES!

Found this planet in my starting solar system.

Thought to myself: FUCK YES A TROPICAL PLANET!
Got so excited about it having sandy beaches, warm climate and clear oceans. Only when I land I find that there's no plants or animals, and it constantly drizzling acid rain.

Goddamn this game, I just want a relaxing looking planet to chill around in for a while instead of a hell scape.

Is the distance to the core number on each planet accurate? I swear it only moved a few hundreds and I have almost all of the warp reactors.

When do we get our hands on the V2/V3?

I found a couple of those, guys I'll be using the bypass to find shelters for a while like that really helpful post earlier suggested.

How big can ship inventories get and for what prices? Need a funding goal if I'm saving!
