I was going to buy this game next weekend after I finished up a few other things. This is disappointing, and I cannot reward (not matter how small at 25 bucks) a developer who listens to the demands of a vocal, oppressive, and harassment-happy (their social media antics) minority, but agrees and caves in to them. Truly sad because this game looked great; like something right up my alley as someone who enjoyed classic PC shooters from the 90's.

Game developers need to learn to make the game THEY want first and foremost and never make a game for the public. Soon as you start trying to please everyone and appeal to everyone you make a product no one can relate to, and make a generic and bland product. Some like Mario games are safe for everyone but still good and that's fine but gaming also needs the polar opposite and everything in between.

No developer should ever change their game for their players, ever. If it's a good game people will buy it and play it. Altering and censoring your game is a crime in my eyes and shows the developer has no balls or backbone. True if you want to be on a console you have to censor somewhat, but not on PC. And as long as people keep censoring to appease others censorship will continue on consoles and certain pc game stores.

Developers need to use blanket statement when people get upset "it's a shame you don't enjoy our game, but there are plenty of others out there for you to try.. But we created the game we wanted and we hope you find one you do enjoy" or some variation of that and then never addressed again. They should never apologize but they also shouldn't feed the trolls. These people will never go away unless they are simply ignored and finally realize they have no power.

I want tetris and mario, and I also want offensive games and very adult games, and everything between. If a Hitler simulator came out I wouldn't upset, but I also wouldn't play it because it doesn't interest me. But I most certainly wouldn't complain or tell them they are wrong for making it. If anything I would be the one who is wrong for telling them they shouldn't make it.

It did not need any salvaging, game was doing extremely well and praised for being both a great game and developers standing up to bullshit. All it got from "controversy" were 15 unfavorable reviews and some twitter posts.

Now we have hit pieces from gameinformer and several others about how 3DRealms apologise for their "transphobic and bigoted" devs, this thread, people rioting in discord, deleting of steam threads by developers, negative reviews galore, 500 replies 4chan thread and gleefull reetards wanting more action against the offenders. 3Drealms already admitted they are guilty. I don't really care if they patch out the lotion bottles. The Game Informer guy who wrote the article is an Era poster. I'd rather not see Era work together with the media to bully companies into doing what they want. I'd rather not see a couple dozen lunatics dictate things to gaming companies. It's one thing to be smug, but you can't be smug and reductive. Then you just sound like a fool. There's also the apology itself, "sensitivity training", and the financial donation to consider. These four things - the in-game changes, public apology, sensitivity training, and financial behavior - were all done for the sake of a vocal minority that manufactured a controversy out of their ass because someone said some SJWs are "nuts" (wow what a shocking statement, actually oh wait saying that some, not all, people who love identity politics are nuts is not shocking at all), and that parents shouldn't try and change the gender of their children. In other words, because some devs didn't except some of the most radical ideas the far-left currently has on offer, and members of that ideology didn't like it, they had to change their game, apologize, and undergo "sensitivity training". Seems pretty obvious to me why people would have a problem with this.
