i get what you are saying. A great gaming experience can be had on a DS or a ps2 or a 486 computer with a 640x480 vga monitor. Just like a great reading experience doesn't require a book to be leatherbound with 40oz paper.

Thanks mods for letting me join...I am surprised Ms is going to no exclusive route for a couple of years...Last gen sales are going to crater like last gen quickly when a new gen drops. First Mistake one of the manufacturers have made. People online think Install base - Guaranteed sales. I remind you 360 and PS3 sales tanked as soon as ps4 and X1 launched...Install base is not linear.

That's a valid question. I guess we will find out once the games are shown.
But my opinion is that yes, we will see PS5 exclusive games early that show the advantage of pushing the system without being anchored by old system. And I have a feeling Sony is going to be VERY LOUD about it letting their devs talk about it in interviews and press releases.
Playstation youtube channel and playstation access channel have a very large following and that's where they will tell everyone how their games differ from previous gen. I'm looking forward to Rob's video about how HZD2 or spiderman 2 or Gran Turismo 7 are only possible on PS5. Surely there will be more than those 3 games. It's an advantage for Sony that I feel will be trumpeted over and over early on in next-gen.

Infamous is still a gorgeous game next gen exclusive that came in the first few months of PS4's life. Game are more then just Scaling some assets and resolution. Building a game with SSD as the baseline and far better CPU allows things like the nemesis system to be made, it was not possible on last gen. Some people are trying desperately to create a narrative that scaling is a magic bullet, scaling like anything has limits.
On top of this expect last gen sales to tank like PS3 and 3560. Ms is indeed making an error here.

.Getting vetted just seems to mean your sources/references check out, but that's about it. And if someone's claiming they know stuff but don't want an account (that could be made as a throwaway anyhow, if they don't want to be traced) to be known for it, that really opens the field to just about anybody.

But they have the gamepass subscribers to think about and cater to. MS is really more focused about software and services these days. Their games releasing on PC too will also hurt their xbox sales I feel but MS does not care about unit sales anymore so it doesn't matter to them. They have a different way of measuring success nowadays.

As much as people praise gamepass its a hack of a service now please dont compare netfliz because movies have no where near the resale value as games. But having gamepass you are giving up your rights as a consumer to own your own software and do with it what you will. Much like netflix or disney plus MS can take a game off whenever they see fit and force you to buy it regardless. Also being Canadian games ares 80 bucks a pop, id rather spend 80 and either keep it or flip it on say kijiji for 65-70 and put that towards a new game in the future. Gamepass is a glorified rental service that takes all the power away from the consumer.

I have a one X...gamepass is nice, I only get it when it's on sale a buck, I never would pay full price. It is really just catering to their existing base...Playstation has been around for decades, they worked hard to build their brand globally, its trusted, and you know what you are getting with playstation, lots o great games first and third party.. It's hard to get many in numbers to leave that ecosystem. Gamepass is not the game changer though. it's a subscription service...People say Sony is lucky..total nonsense they know what they are doing in the gaming space more then most of the rest of the company.

while Sony is saying the loud part quiet and the quiet part loud
Sony knows where the future is going but they are very hush with their direction because they know alot of gamers still wants physical and the old way of how consoles are brought out etc.
Of course they do they make money on console gamepass and maybe break even on PC plus gold on console. So up to 15 vs 5 dollars a month is a huge difference. At a minimum 10 vs 5 so double the revenue. The PC gamepass is just something to get mau up nothing more subsized by console gamers.

The advantage of Sony and MS over Stadia is that they can sell their games as streaming or non-streaming or both.
I will be in the camp of consumer who will buy a $60 game that I can stream but also download if I want to provided I have the console too. Streaming-only like Stadia though. Count me out.

Physical box is still...by far the best, biggest way to get your userbase grow, which means subs, more money. PSn is raking in money, More then Xbox and Nintendo combined I think? Someone correct me if that has changed. That is not going away anytime soon. It will eventually, but it's not in an way close , Sony's knows this, it's premature. PS now is just in it's "It's Early" stage. Ms cannot compete head to head so the natural thing is to change direction, gamepass is the beginning. Number of boxes sold will have the biggest userbase again this gen.

I'm not given up any rights. I'm more than happy with the value ganepass offers and I couldn't give a toss about owning games, they have no value to me. Gamepass is giving me the flexibility to play games I would never would at great value, as a consumer I welcome that choice.The fact is even if you owned an Xbox you could follow your way of purchasing games, gamepass does not effect that at all. Gamepass is an additional way accessing games, it gives consumers choice and I welcome that.

I really think that's where MS is heading. That's an advantage for Sony though in terms of playstation sales and locking down customers to their ecosystem. MS has no control over PC gamers on where they buy their games. They're really betting big on gamepass to bring in the profit.
Sony has nothing to worry about gamepass. They have PS Now and a breath of legacy and exclusive AAA games. Sony will deliver on PS Now when the time is right. But console traditional physical games will continue to be a priority. Millions upon millions of gamers will not abandon console gaming just because of streaming. The two will co-exist.
