Microsoft confirms 12 TF RDNA 2 for the Xbox Series X

that was not my point tho.

i was explaining why microsoft did a shitty move not announcing all their exclusives on pc from day one.
imagine this scenario, you already have a beefy pc but you want to play M exclusives, you buy their console and after that they announce all their games on pc.
you remain with a totally useless console that costed 400-500 dollars, how is that a pro consumer move?

like i said, the news itself was not a negative thing, the timing was. (and it was absolutely on purpose)
i don't believe for a moment that this was not an already programmed step but they wait to announce it far beyond day one, how do i have to feel with a useless console and 400-500 dollars less in my wallet??
i mean you can defend this shit all you want but it doesn't mean that i'm wrong...

it's the same situation with sony right now, they need to clarify their pc gaming release status and people with a pc is waiting for this clarification because they don't wanna buy a useless console.
Ah, so it's a you thing.

Got it.

There's a such thing as being a sore winner. I hope Sony comes with something comparable because I've always planned on buying both systems at launch. right now Microsoft has solidified my purchase. I just need Sony to make it worth my while as well at this point. I'm a bit concerned of all the cancellations and the deafening silence from them. I'll admit I'm getting impatient and while I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt, it's becoming harder to do that. Then I just have to think...it's still only February. So maybe if you're getting a bit impatient like I am, just remember, technically, it's still early.

Tryna be as centrist as possible...there's enough "I told you so-ing" going on in the thread already.
If you want both my advice Is ps5 First...you can have the new ip of Microsoft in the old gen in a couple of years

Not yet. We have to wait for the next Navi big card that's coming which was supposedly leaked recently.
Gotcha. Hopefully Sony is on the same version of architecture, as that could affect how well each system performs against one another. Even if both consoles are 12TF, RDNA vs RDNA2 could have different results.

Even if Sony does have 13TF RDNA, 12TF of RDNA2 could make a world of difference considering that it would be 7nm vs 7nm EUV which has it's own performance gains.

not true. only microsoft studio games will have xbox one games.. all other games, from third party, can be xbox series X only. no need to support xbox one anymore when xbox series x launches.

Ah ok thanks for the clarification. I guess that is true yes. No idea when/what third party games to expect in late 2020 or even throughout 2021 that only come out for the new consoles.

Maybe Call of Duty, Battlefield or Assassin's Creed could surprise us with something, but thes usually release around Oct/Nov

Beast of a machine but it means nothing without the exclusives to back it up.

I will probably still buy the XBOX Series X but Playstation will have most of my attention for another generation if they continue to dominate the exclusives scene.
I really hope XBOX ups their game in this area. I just cannot justify buying a console for HALO and GEARS anymore. Especially when these franchises just seem stale now.

That's me every time I think about jumping onboard Xbox again. Even at 20TF, the games are still the problem. Nothing is exclusive and so many of us already have a capable PC. It just makes me miss the old days of the OG xbox. You had power and games that you couldn't play anywhere else. Even if I didn't have a PC and PS5 was only 8TF, I'd still be hard-pressed to jump back to Xbox, and I'm a Halo/Forza fan.

Smart Delivery: This technology empowers you to buy a game once and know that – whether you are playing it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X – you are getting the right version of that game on whatever Xbox you’re playing on. We’re making the commitment to use Smart Delivery on all our exclusive Xbox Game Studios titles, including Halo Infinite, ensuring you only have to purchase a title once in order to play the best available version for whichever Xbox console they choose to play on. This technology is available for all developers and publishers, and they can choose to use it for titles that will be release on Xbox One first and come to the Xbox Series X later.
Why are they making this look like a good feature?

Close....Covid-19 is actually the viral marketing campaign for TLOU2.
You are late in your rumors, it was developed for TLoU2's marketing campaign, but when they saw what was happening with the new xbox they decided to rush it out to save face... it wasn't supposed to spread this fast. Anyway, the virus will deactivate in may when TLoU2 is released.

i would think you’d wait for the PS5 pro- as MS says they don’t want to do a pro version.

anyway, the biggest leap possible at a reasonable price is what I want.

Loading speed, at least for me, is so irrelevant if I am playing a gorgeous game. So I couldn't care less about the SSD.

SSD also fixes a whole lot of problems by making asset management much much easier. It enables new scenarios by virtue of making assets available almost instantly. It's good that its happening.

not my fault if you don't understand why the lack of clarity is a shitty move...

do you at least understand that people with a beefy pc don't need a console to play Microsoft games? they already spent thousands of dollars for their PCs.

That's why 90% of the people I know are console gamers and would never spend that money on a "gaming PC". And MS knows that, it's 2 totally different markets and platforms.

I think it'll be minimal by comparison to previous gens. X1X has already comprised much of the jump because we're only going up 2x on the graphics processor.
We're past the PS2-PS3 type massive leaps. We'll get some better lighting, smoother framerates, and crisper visuals. Nothing that will wow anyone outside of enthusiasts that like to exaggerate the digital foundry 300% zoom lens. For most people looking at games, they won't even see a generation leap at all. They'll need it to be explained to them what took place between X1X and XSX. "Looks a little better I guess." Since we're gamers we have nothing better to do than blow everything out of proportion. "Insane difference!" No, it isn't. Those days are over. Baby steps from here on out with the exception of maybe VR or maybe AR.

This comment belongs to early 2019 or something like that.

Didn't some insider or article claim that Xbox/PlayStation was having issues with heat and trying to get it under control?
This means a high-fidelity gaming experience enclosed in a quiet and bold design,

Show me some games and I might actually be impressed.

Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Fifa, Cyberpunk... etc. etc. (probably the next GTA game as well). Aka the stuff which dominates the monthly sales charts on all platforms. Nice to see Xbox bringing the power, i.e. powerful consoles = better games for all because the baseline is stronger.

How is this weird? That means that they have dedicated cores that just do one thing: Ray tracing.
Now ray tracing won’t use any other resources. This is HUGE! And crazy expensive lol
Yeah, that's pretty crazy. RT won't use any resources. Dedicated hardware to do one specific job. That's nuts!

If I weren’t all in on PC and SteamVR this would make me very interested. Even still it’s making me pretty interested. This thing is gonna be a great value for if it’s $500 or less

Who is "many of us"? Based on the specs, you are looking at a GPU on the same level as a 2080 Super. 2080 Ti and 2080 Super are 1 % of the Steam users according to the latest Steam hardware survey. Those are GPUs that sell for $700 and $1.100 respectively. And you are getting comparable performance in a $499 device with much better HDR support. So what if all games come out on PC? The truth is that 95+ % of PC players will play an inferior version of the game on their PC than they could with an XSX.

Microsoft (and Sony for that matter) can talk the talk but without any gameplay I can hardly judge the power of these consoles.

Sosokrates

Report me if I continue to console war
At this point it does not even matter if PS5 is like 5 - 10% more powerful, it will be the most underwhelming power advantage ever.
What will be the bigger factor is if Lockhart is a thing Sony will get destroyed on price.

Is this digital only or will physical copies get a free patch?
Physical and Digital licenses work identically on Xbox (except physical needs to have the disc in the tray). The game physical/digital versions aren’t recognized differently for updates.
Expect PS5 to offer pretty much exactly the same thing, numbers be slightly different but basically the exact same feature-set.

The "Smart delivery" thing is such smoke-and-mirrors though. Basically all it means is that of an upgrade patch exists for SX, then it'll get auto-loaded on install. but third-parties can still charge for it if they want. Whoopty-do. That sounds like business as usual.

Please enlighten me of *one* single Xbox One X title in which the X enhanced upgrade patch was behind a paywall? 🙄
