what do you mean? im hardly involved in this thread. i read most of the time but all i see is bunch of bickering and loads of leaks that are mostly fake. everything is kind of quiet now so for me im taking a break.

Well you were offering that “we” take a break is all. I don’t ever feel the need to do that. I enjoy the discussion going on. Sure it has it’s bipolar moments but what gaming forum doesn’t lol? So as I said, maybe you (personally, instead of “we”?) needed to take a break. I know some of us read through these and go insane, and some of us don’t.

Now that is something, because I'm pretty sure people were discrediting Tech Power Up not too long ago.

All you have to do is tell people what they want to hear and you become believable and credible once again. 😏

I would be cautious with this. Tech Power Up has been known to place hold and change specs on a whim. But at least they're out of the 9TF zone.

They updated with the info AMD dropped. Doesn’t mean it’s accurate now, just getting closer to what it really is.

By the way, for all you gamers itching to get a SeX or PS5, you better add to your budget.

Unless Sony and MS have a good solution for your external HDD of games to work smooth and fast, there's chance you might need to buy an external SSD to pair up with the internal SSD.

If that's true, might as well add another couple hundred bucks to the cost.
No problem, I was actually hoping that they would put the money into the system and let us buy the SSD or storage solution separately and to a size of our descretion.

Sure but due to the heat savings it’s going to be above the RDNA1 CU count. Which is why they’re calling it big navi.

Yes I never said they would not have higher cus.

You also said this:

We know they’re both Navi 2 which puts them in a close ballpark to one another. That was confirmed by AMD.

This is just false.

They could both RDNA2 and not be in the same "ballpark"

A RDNA2 56cu @ 1675mhz is going to be more powerful then a RDNA2 44cu @ 1690mhz

I don’t know what to believe anymore. I hope it’s around12, but I’ll accept that it’s 4.0 TF wand weaker than the PS4 Pro and XBSS so I’m not disappointed. I’d like to request a self ban until April 2. Thanks.

why would it? RDNA2 will have low end cards and mobile APUs that will have lower CU counts than 40.

big navi is just a nickname because the high end models will break that barrier the RDNA1 cards had.

RDNA2 will be used in such a wide range of devices, who knows what will end up being the lowest CU count we will see with RDNA2?

It will be 13.3 TF, I'm ready to place a bet ! my two cents ;D

my prediction from the prediction thread (this was before Microsoft confirmed 12TF)

Series S = Navi 21/23 - 4TF, 500GB SSD, 12GB GDDR6 + 4GB DDR4 at $400
PS5 = Navi 10 Lite - 9.2TF, 1TB SSD, 16GB GDDR6 at $500
Series X = Navi 21/23 - 12TF, 1TB SSD, 16GB GDDR6 + 4GB DDR4 at $600

what do we get if we win?:messenger_winking_tongue:

so I got 1 of 3 correct... I am not comfortable with my PS5 prediction anymore... I would correct that to:

PS5 = Navi 24(?) - 9.2TF, 1TB SSD, 16GB GDDR6 + 3GB DDR4 at $500

I expect slightly higher than 9.2 but 9.2 is the only bet I could realistically hit on the nose, because anything else would be blind guessing... so I take my chances with that number lol...

It would be interesting to see, if they both got delayed into next year, if they went for further tweaks and improvements on the specs already announced.

If they went into Spring 2021, I wonder if both systems could probably push up to those magical 14-16TF ranges depending on how technology advances throughout the year and prices fluctuate.

Who knows, it's a wild one these days. Can't play sports, can't watch sports, can't go to school. How long til they say we just can't go to work?

All leaks thus far have said as much.

You "predicted" Series X 12 teraflops on february 23rd 2020. Not much of a prediction.

It is going to be a lot closer than you are probably willing to let your mind allow.

That isnt a fanboy dig mind you. I am not going to get into that petty crap.

Both companies are launching at the same time with the same roadmap.

We pretty much know they are using the same technologies.

It is going to boil down to form factor, cost target, etc.

Sony didnt shit the bed, neither did Microsoft.

This illusion where Sony trips into a substantial power deficit just isnt going to happen.

I suspect Xbox will have a slight TF advantage because they wanted that. The form factor kind of screams it, but it is not going to be magic.

Both machines are going to be powerhouses, and both sides are going to be happy.

7 tflops is the correct number, it just needs to be multiplied by 2.

Xbots will cry even in the alternative reality where 7 Tflops ps5 beats the sexy X sex box by 125 million vs 60 million sold consoles in the end of the gen.

Found it. The iGPU ID matches the ariel GPUs.

18 represents 1.8ghz. the CPU base clock is 1.6ghz, same as the PS4.

13F9 is very similar to the gonzalo gpus.

regardless, it doesnt matter. the 5600xt is a 7 tflops GPU. its hilarious that people thought flute or gonzalo were going to be the final PS5 design because now that we know those were basically offering 7 tflops of RDNA performance, the entire github, komachi, apisak and firestrike DATA leak has been proven to be a giant load of shit.

Yep. But some are still passionately adamant to push it though!

Flute seemingly was tested at lower clocks than Ariel github

My thought is flute is cpu ariel is gpu oberon is full soc
Ariel is a GPU. Oberon is the newer "model".

Nothing will change hardware wise if they delay til spring. APUs have been done for a while. Small tweaks here and there are possible with upclocks or maybe faster memory.

the power will be dictated by their pricing goals.
that's the only deciding factor here.

we still don't know how expensive the Series X will be. my guess is close to $600.

so will Sony target a similar price? will they go lower? higher? way lower? way higher?

that will determine the hardware not what time they release or what kind of technology is available to them.

God man, running through Ratchet n Clank ,PS4 and damn is it dizzying to imagine a full fledged sequel on PS5 teased by Moriarty, with insane graphics and physics. What they did on PS4 is awesome.

God I hope they bring back more mascot series. As rough as it was, I very much enjoyed Medievil remake. Maybe expand the team, allow them to learn from their mistakes, and improve enginework. The composer teased a sequel similarly to the first. Hope it works out.

Side note, Gamernyc, can't wait to get to Nioh 2 myself. Are you a fan of Ninja Gaiden? The director of Nioh said he wants to revisit it. Please redeem the series because 3 was a travesty.

I agree, pricing will determine power and i do think the PS5 will be priced lower than XboxSx, and weaker in power (maybe by a tin margin).
Xbox need to make a statement with Power + they are aiming to compete in both markets (med-high end) with 2 consoles, Ps5 being in the middle make sense, as for pricing :
549$ xbox serie X
499$ PS5
349/399$ serie S
