That was unexpected, but very welcome. Got to say, Microsoft is doing a great job putting everything out there (except for the price) before Sony does, doing already some hands on impressions with a couple of guys...

No I'm pretty sure. Sony has built market and mindshare through many years of quality not announcements. All we have to see as reference is how ps3 still outsold Xbox 360 even at hundreds more, inferior multiplats and what at the time was an inferior online. Do you remember psn going down for months? Ppl still didn't abandon ps3 and it still outsold Xbox 360 worldwide almost every month during those months and tht speaks volumes. These announcements do nothing to kill Sony's hype and once thy drop tht info the flood gates will open. As an international brand Sony is just way stronger this is a fact not just fanboy bs and hopes.

The brand is indeed much stronger, but if Microsoft also has a decent launch lineup you must also understand that they will sell better next gen than this gen, right? Obviously Sony will sell the most consoles, but Microsoft will do better this time around.

The shielding on the APU and on the PSU isn't the usual bend plated steel - appears to be cast Aluminium or Zamak .. that isn't messing around and I sort of wonder why, especially on the PSU which doesn't need the rigidity to support the heat sink - definitely more expensive afaik

You actually said that. Admittedly, the backgrounds were really strange. His behavior was downright delusional. A patent for the PS5 controller had been in existence for weeks. Clear features of the DS4 could be seen in the "leaked" photos from TF.
However, I still wouldn't say his information are 100% correct. I am still skeptical. Lets see if the PS5 specs will also match.

I'm wondering if, looking how the video shows them "assembling" a Series X if mid-gen refreshes will allow for replacing certain parts, leaning towards a more modular build of the console (pc-like, you could say). That'd be very appealing.

ALSO does anyone remem.ber who leaked codename ANACONDA FIRST??? This leak was start off JAN 2019 was there an earlier time ANACONDA was used? The leak also talked about Lockhart and ps5 (I think lockhart and anaconda leaks dropped around same time) If someone can remember first mention of anaconda would be a cool find thanks

No tht is definitely true. I definitely see them selling better given the msging I've been hearing, shit I'll probably be on Board. I do have an Xbox s but was going to pass bcus I don't use it but I'm liking what I'm hearing about studio development and of course the power sounds good.

Ah yes, that wasn't what i was meaning. Really, this virus isn't even that bad yet. It can get 100x or more worse and I fully expect it to. I hope it doesn't, but I cant not see it getting worse. If their is time to release info, it's now and before the shit properly hits the fan.
And I am glad they still do that and I don´t wanna go the eco friendly route, but rechargeable AA batteries are cheap and have some spares and a AA charger at home is fine. Even though it is possible to replace internal batteries a lot of people just won´t do it. They throw it away and by new stuff. Heck I replaced the internal battery of my Kindle 3 Keyboard and some friends and colleagues were "kindles are super cheap, why don´t you just buy a new one? ", because my Kindle 3 just works perfectly, it just needed a new battery.

you don't need to change shit... you have the option to use their official battery pack, your own AA batteries or third party battery packs.
that's by far the best way to do things.
it gives you options and an easy way to replace the battery should it go bad down the line.

Sony has 2 huge exclusives still to release by the end of June. They have no reason to talk about anything until this pandemic dies down. Unlike Microsoft, their exclusives actually sell not give it away for basically free with a $1 GP sub at release. Microsoft has nothing to show. Their games are not exclusive to Series X for a few years at least. They're the ones who are trying to claw forward to gain market not Sony. Why reveal anything when consoles are not in mass production yet? Do it when you finalize the specs so competition doesn't know what to jump on unless you have inside secrets. Both consoles will probably be near each other in power.
I'm very impressed by the Microsoft hardware. I want to see price. You're looking at a $1k+ PC easy. They upped their game time for Sony to match or exceed.

Going by Daniel Ahmad BOM estimates (460-520) I wouldn't expect it to cost a penny more than 499$. Same with PS5 (BOM ~450) price <=499$.

This is why I try to avoid the boards that are 90% insiders, if I'm going to be making stupid assumptions I at least want there to be others around doing the same. Excited for the news, I love the way MS always manages to get that Lego block design working, probably takes a lot of work designing the pieces to get things to fit together like that.
