I think it's clear the PS5 was designed for a 2019 release as speculated. Instead of adding more CUs Sony just clocked the existing chip higher. With the higher frequency I'm guessing 10% disadvantage to Xbox. I don't think it will be noticeable on most games. Both should do 4k 60fps. It will do until the pro is released with 72 Cu.
Of course, if the roomyou put the console in is not too hot, otherwise it selfdownclock and the difference getting bigger and bigger, Imagine in my room, even my custom watercooling loop suffer from the heat I have in my room, imagine PS5, is gonna go down to 6tf=|12.1−10.3|[(12.1+10.3)2]×100 = 16.0714% difference
I'll try to expose my (unbiased) opinion.
So far I must applaud Phil Spencer for how he and the X Team have been handling the XSX reveal. They went at the Game Awards for the first words about it and later straight to DF and online media which is aimed at gamers. I thought this was much better than Sony staying shut for months and then coming up with a video that was meant for GDC. If you're making a reveal for the gamers and the indystry as a whole just do something better. That reveal was pretty bad IMO.
That said, I think PS5 and XSX have very different approaches. Graphically speaking there's no doubt the XSX is stronger. But there's a lot more to talk about here. Its APU is probably a lot bigger and having almost 50% more CUs than PS5's APU will make it a lot more expensive. PS5 is probably a lot faster than the X and I'm wondering how much of a difference this will make while gaming.
Seeing how bad the economy is right now (and probably will be for a long time), I think the cheapest console will have a better time selling. And in this case I think PS5 will comfortably sell for $100 less than the XSX. If Lockhart had been put on hold or even cancelled, at this point I believe Microsoft will make a big deal out of it in the next few months. And no, I don't believe it'll be a 4TF box. I believe they'll go as close as PS5 as they can while keeping a cheaper price.
HeisenbergFX4 watchya think
i agree 100% this is creating such a divide in the gaming community right now its disgusting.
I think they are planning on boosting PS4 games somehow as he mentioned that at higher frequency it can cause some problems in some games but the majority are running really well. I took this as they are doing something extra to the games such as higher resolutions etcDamn straight, and I was expecting something around that 11.6 to 12.4 (maybe in the middle) for high-end, too. Again I'm not personally disappointed or anything; TONS of signs were pointing to something like this. But I know a lot of other people are probably upset ATM and need to collect themselves.
Only thing that honestly shocked me is how there isn't full PS4 BC, I'm wondering what's causing the issue there.
Anyway if it's $399 I'm in, still don't know if I'll get it or XSX first tho. Been a blast having you here dude, same for the other devs and insiders. People shouldn't be mad at the messengers, or even Sony imho. MS just turned out to be THAT hungry this time around, that's all. Next gen's gonna be fine.
If the GPU and RAM speeds are comparable to the Scarlett, then yes. But no. But yes.So, no. You asked if PS5 will hold back next gen.
He never responded back to me in the console smack down thread.Quite a few regulars absent from the forum today lol. Also i wonder if Estomahz is going to apolagize to Github believers, the ridicule really was nasty at times.
As a non-insider, looks my guess was better than 90% of insiders.Total guesswork
10.6-10.9tf (which is purposely done to be outside of insider calls and smack dab in the middle of 9.2 and 12-13tf)
RDNA 2
16 gb GDDR6
1TB SSD drive is better than SeX at 3.6 gb/s
It must feel good to live in denial! You also part of the cult of thelastword?Yeah! And I genuinely believe that 9-10 TFs is more than enough to produce insanely good looking games. I really couldn't care less if the Xbox has 20% more raw power or something. PS5 exclusives will look better than any multiplat anyway, just like this gen.
so they planned CV19? are you kidding me? they just went cheap. they could not make it with 40cu or 44cu? you want consoles as close us possible for the best results in gaming.
Oh it is SMT-off?You like to check 16T on PS5, caused Sony said nothing about SMT.
Don't eat any of that nasty crow, brother. You were cool the whole time. Save it for the "Insiders" and the aggressive meanies.I, Insane Metal, hereby apologise to all users who said github was right and I made fun of. I'll eat crow happily.

He said the console manages, but rasterization is goodAnd whats with this ray tracing on ps5? It sounded like Cerny just avoidEd it for sone reason or was it just me?
If the GPU and RAM speeds are comparable to the Scarlett, then yes. But no. But yes.
It's the same, but different.
Yeah but lets face this arrogant Sony again and that price is impossible, they invest again money in hardware which in the end of day will care less than the GPU (hi PS3).... please at least have good exclusives.what if they do a $299 mic drop ? would you still be complaining ?
DIdn't he say that the CU in the audio part was equivalent to the whole PS4 CPU and that it was very much like the PS3 SPU?, not sure but did he say other code could be run on this? maybe further down the line this chip could be used to help PS3 emulation?there's 1 extra CU with secret sauce.![]()
Their SSD solution is going to be expensive and might be the hill they die on which I hate.
Of course, if the roomyou put the console in is not too hot, otherwise it selfdownclock and the difference getting bigger and bigger, Imagine in my room, even my custom watercooling loop suffer from the heat I have in my room, imagine PS5, is gonna go down to 6tf
All this video did was expose who actually plays games and who was just in it for the “power crown”. This looks to be the classic case of “Speed vs. Power” and both companies are taking a different approach. The fact that Sony’s SSD smokes the dogshit out of the XSX’s yet the only came % wise behind the XSX is quite amazing. Now it makes sense why insiders were saying it’s not going to be clear who is more powerful because both machines are going about this in different ways.
Tommy was probably TimDog trolling PlayStation fans.Tommy Fisher man you are totally off
Most that are disappointed at the tflops are hilarious ofc Sony will go for a more consumer friendly system and I for one will buy it.
Someone has to do a test with similar GPUS, one very fast and narrow and the other broad and slower. From what I have seen in the past at the same Tflop the higher clocked one is faster. How much faster? That is the question that will give a true comparison the PS5 performance versus Series X.I think everyone is missing the part where Cerny was talking about the performance gain from higher clock speed instead of lower clock but more CU's ?
Realistically I reckon it's probably on par with the SeX in terms of max power considering this and the SSD speeds.
But Sony will have the cheaper price at $399 for sure but at the end of the day people play games at 4K 60FPS who is going to care ?
SeX will be $499 and as people do, they will buy whatever is cheapest.
PS5 Pro will be the 8K system and realistically most people only have 4K TV currently so no point in pushing the power to the limit. This isn't a PC so it's a different preformance scale so PS5 will not hold back anything.
Smart move by Sony but poor delivery
The difference is too big, I feel that several users have laughed at us and really did not know anything.@Mod of War
Lets face it, guys: We have been trolled by fake insiders.

The amount of posts downplaying the difference in power between both machines have me shocked, 2TF of Difference is like going from nothing to Spiderman, GOD of War or Uncharted 4 lol.
Also it seems no ones remember the shitshow comparing trees, vegetation density etc on early games this gen, now nothing of that matters? Lol the bias is real.
Looks like Oberon leaks were right.
DIdn't he say that the CU in the audio part was equivalent to the whole PS4 CPU and that it was very much like the PS3 SPU?, not sure but did he say other code could be run on this? maybe further down the line this chip could be used to help PS3 emulation?
in my opinion, I feel that the moderators allowed all of these "insiders" to post here in the past months (and they'll allow them to post here in the future as well) because it drummed up more usage on this site. It sucks that no one will face any repercussion for posting info that was not real, even if they did so with the right intentions @Mod of War @Faust
I was banned... but I posted shit in the end, because I was fed up of repeating the realistic github leak and getting laughed at.Remember when 11+ tflops was a fact and people were calling for Githubers to get banned? Yeah, good times.
