I found this, still trying to hunt down the Horizon one.

They say so because it's a mutliplat, the salt level is so high that it's blocking their vision.:messenger_dizzy:
Yeah I can definitely see that, I am starting to become less impressed with what has been shown by both so far.
Only thing I know is I probably will need to upgrade to 4k TV if I wanna benefit from the Next-Gen consoles

Im Speculating about the PS5 being Fanless/passivecooling piece of Hardware.Could it be true? Heres my reasoning

First they make such a big secret out of the new much quieter cooling system but haven't showed anything yet.
Then it looks like a router or moden/router and these electronics are fanless as well.
The PS5 is Huge and that is because the white shields are made of metal and are for heat dissipation, that's why they are like this, its to create more surface for the warmth to radiate off.
Then there is this weird stand, for what is that good? Too give room for heat dissipation under the PS5 if you use it vertically.
Then people assume it'll blow out the air on front/top. But how does it make sense to suck the air in from the back and blow it out on front/side if its horizontally?
Also here is a full functioning PS4 with passive cooling if you think its not possible.

So how does this design make sense if it doesn't have any function, Sony could've made the PS5 much sleeker without these shield.

What do you think?

I like your specualtions, but I think the front/upper vents are for exhaust. I think the intake is in the back with such a crunched air tunnel to produce enough air pressure to hit hard and fast and go out quickly, and I hope there is a filter in the back that you can take out and clean easily.

I hear people say they wasn't impressed with what was shown but then go on to say Village: Resident Evil was the best looking game there
bUgyM0H.jpg

Resident-Evil-3-Remake-Carlos-Gameplay-Kills-Progression-And-Momentum.jpg

I personally think it looked inferior to the Remakes

What the? The framerate was chugging along. I know they’ll iron it out before launch, but best looking? Lay down the crackpipe.

Man I think I am in love with the new HZD Forbidden West trailer, I've been rewatching it so many times in 4K on my small laptop and it looks jaw droppingely beautiful, and what's even more insane is it would look much better on an actual 4K panel. I am so pumped for this game!

Brother, I beg you to upgrade. If you think you can't spare enough money, I would say pick the cheapest 4K out there. Wanna give you a good 4K with insane input lag? here is Sony XH80 (X800H), 43" size for $599:

Got more? Go for my 1st choice here with full HDMI 2.1 support (4K@120Hz, VRR, ALLM) (will get one when it's available), the XH90 (X900H), 55" for $999:

I'll pick that but 65" or higher, note that only 65" and higher has the acoustic, off screen-like built in speakers.

You'll laugh at your previous TV.

I think Sony chose the wrong thing, they can stream in 4K since 2016:

Back in 2010, we enabled 4K video support for the very first time. Since then, millions of videos have been uploaded at that eye-popping resolution, making YouTube’s the largest library of 4K videos online. Today, we’re proud to say that we’re taking 4K video one step further with the launch of 4K live streaming for both 360-degree videos and standard videos.

Supporting this new format will let creators and partners stream incredibly high-resolution video, and let viewers enjoy the clearest picture possible when watching a live stream on 4K-supported devices. The image quality is just mind-blowing on screens that support it, and in 360 degrees … the clarity can truly transport you. If you want to experience it for yourself, make sure to check out the Game Awards tomorrow, December 1 at 9 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST on YouTube. The entire show will be live streamed in 4K resolution.

I think it's their biggest negative, as a Hollywood/imaging giant, not to stream in 4K. I agree with @geordiemp . I can 4K premiere personally, and might do it in the upcoming months on my own channel. You upload the video and choose the time it starts.
Now please look at the view count 1,6 millions for Game Awards and PS5 Event (just English) 12 Million, now those are not concurrent but I know for a fact PS5 Event had hit 2+ million concurrent viewers while Game Awards were views LESS than that in TOTAL which takes into account the live streamers.

Do not get fooled by blog posts, or marketing puff pieces to promote events, final result did not deliver even for Game Awards, have you watched it? I did and it had abysmal bitrate at 4K while concurrent viewers were around half million (only some of which were using 4K), they couldn't manage a 4K PS5 event at that many people streaming with probably much more people selecting 4K res. over anything.

No way its fanless. Cerny said it will be quieter, but not completely silent. However i could see some sort of hybrid approach being their "innovative" cooling solution

My current TV is Sony 50" W80 series
So I'm gonna need 55HX80 or 55HX90
Minimum
But that 55XH90 is £1299 here

I'm not sure if you're getting my message. I can like preupload 4K and leave it there even for months and choose when the premiere starts. But broadcasting live is another matter indeed.

Well, don't buy it now, you can always wait for sale, or have 12 months payment plan for it (if it's available). Check the prices during Black Friday, or in early 2021 when clearance starts dropping prices real hard.

I would say it's better buying 55HX90 as it has local dimming and full support for HDMI 2.1. LG C9 for example has shit motion processing, nothing comes close to Sony's processing power and color accuracy for TV's. Most of those complaining about 30fps are probably not using Sony TV's that mitigate it pretty well and smoothly, especially 24fps (movies).

I agree the third party show Microsoft had was bad. Check my post history.
When I said third party show that’s what the show was. Third party.

Sony just had their game reveal show for ps5. Microsoft hasn’t done that yet. Let’s compare shows after Xbox actually has one.

Third parties are still capable of showing next gen games. If anything Microsoft made some poor choices when they choose the third parties for the event. And they also made a mistake of hyping it up so much especially when they knew what was going to be in it. I was going to accuse Sony of doing the same but then they showed some next gen games at their event. I wish they showed more though which is what future events are for.

I do, as soon as it premieres it turns into a live broadcast though, and having advertised it far and wide, 2 million people showing up to view puts strain on the tubes (pardon the pun for youTUBE) and this was my point all along, concurrent viewership on that scale for 4K content is bound to have problems of streaming, at least for some, and that is what Sony wants to avoid -> avoid making a fiasco when all eyes on them, so they went with everyone guaranteed to access the content and watch it live.

Many here are still jizzing over that bullshit comparison tho

Well, I tried my best to make it fair play, and searched for "4K" screenshots of the movie, which seems non existent. Here the movie:

And instead, I'll use a PS5 4K screenshot here that's heavily compressed on youtube:

kkkk.jpg

Then 1080p screenshot of the same video:

gggggh.jpg

Then a direct screenshot from the system of PS5

Be the judge for yourself.

Well I certainly remember being young enough to want to avoid anything "girly" once upon a time. So if the aim was to get money from primary school children then it makes sense. Girls weren't cool until my hormones kicked in.

But the irony is that many things little boys like, end up being popular with older women. The lack of females, and lots of muscular men beating each other up, somehow got horny women interested. It just isn't in arcade gaming, but in popular fiction instead.

Aloy is the most convincing female protagonist to me, along with Ellie on TLOU and Chloe Frazer on Uncharted: Lost Legacy.

But what the fuck is this? Nier Automata

nier-automata-controversial-final-secret.jpg

Most Japanese games make female protagonists just simply strange and unconvincing and more like sluts. Most of the female protagonists I've seen in the latest PS5 reveal so far look good and reasonable, until I see one WWE-sized brute being lifted from the ground and brutally destroyed in a fist fight.

Asia doesn't care about being reasonable; it is fantasy. Thus both the male and female robots in Automata are made as Asian ideals.
Interesting that you focus on the female, while completely ignoring the fact that the men are equally perfect in the same game.

Yeah I'm not a fan of JRPG overall, when they go action RPG like recent Final Fantasy, I give it a go. Bought Persona 5 for $25 and deleted it after the first level.

It's called SDR (the movie) vs HDR (the game). There are some HDR movies out there anyway.
The most visible difference between real time and offline graphics is the use of full high quality path tracing. Until theres a console that can do that in real time (likely PS6/ Xbox Two Series XY), CGI movies will always have an edge in lighting and overall image quality. By principle real time cannot be "better" than offline because offline has no limitations in rendering quality.

The game does render at a higher fps and resolution than the movie (which was most likely mastered in 1080p), and along with some better art direction and higher budget that levels the playing field significantly

I know this has been discussed on the thread before but I cannot seem to find the discussions, what do you guys think of Series X games being held back because devs will be forced to make sure games also run on Xbox One and One X, is it simple as scaling the game down to lower resolutions so that they can run on the older hardware?
It's not that simple, we are talking about CPU(Jaguar vs Zen 2) and storage(mechanical HDD vs SSD) limiting AI, enemy count, game design, streaming, among other things. Not everything is scalable as resolution/framerate.

I've been saying this for a while. Trying to design games to be inclusive is a great thing. A lot of games let you customize the look and sex of your character to whatever you want, which is cool. Some though will be story driven around a specific character, like Horizon. And no, people shouldn't get upset because they have to play Horizon as a girl or a certain race of girl. It's just one story. I think as things continue to expand in the game industry we are seeing more and more development teams from different areas of the world and they clearly have a certain flavor to the games they design. That's cool. I DO think that if the story isn't centered on a specific character and type (again like the Horizons series) that devs should let people customize their characters to whatever they want, like in the Souls series and Nioh 2 for example. That way people can play how they want. We can't afford to get upset though if a certain character is lead. I mean yes, we see certain types of characters in Hollywood movies as opposed to those created in Asia or in India. I think it's fruitless to try and get Indian movies for example to have more white or other races of characters and vice versa. Explore our differences and enjoy them. We don't want to get HUNG UP on those differences. Just my stupid opinion, anyway. :messenger_winking_tongue:

I'm not bothered by the race of the protagonist if it fits the narrative, I'm only bothered if it feels like forced for some agendas. If somebody doesn't like a game because the race of the protagonist doesn't fits his, you can always grab Unreal Engine and make your own game. :goog_unsure:

I’m not talking about hdr. I’m viewing it on my phone which doesn’t support hdr and the movie has better lighting.

Edit: it’s just my opinion. If you disagree that’s fine.

I was having this discussion on Twitter with some Xbox fans and I mentioned this stuff and the dudes reply was “this is not necessarily true with the new market development kit they have a lot of tools to be able to basically make two different game designs and make them bridge together. You'll be very surprised when games are shown" , seems like Microsoft really do have these tools but they rely on actual magic 😂 jks of course.

No clue what all it entails, but they actually did put out a new XDK which is for Xbox one and Series X simultaneously. They’re apparently working to keep the dev environment relatively simple in terms of changes to avoid the learning curve current gen had.
