How you be when first booting up a gorgeous flight:

What time is it?
People don't buy flight simulator to "play" it though. They want to simulate a flight, however boring you may find that to be. It is the whole point of its existence.

Also, If it's anything like past fight sims, you can set auto-pilot once take-off as completed and then time lapse.

Flight Simulator and Star Citizen. And we have to wait and see how HZD and Death Stranding PC look like.

From the console games, Ratchet & Clank and the BotW looking one. That one was gorgeous. Since this past generation its all about the art style. Games like AC Oddysey and Control do nothing for me, while simple games like grow up and last day of June were amazing.

I can't wait to see the PC version of Crysis remastered though...

For me; Horizon 2 and Hellblade 2 have been the most impressive overall so far for an actual "game".
Flight Sim is absolutely jaw dropping, but more on the photo realistic side.
Ratchet & Clank has been the most impressive for its cartoon art direction.
Honourable mentions for me so far: Resident Evil 8 & Project Athia.

This will likely change after Xbox's July event. I'm sure they'll show some good stuff. I got a good feeling that Halo will be stunning.

So even less playing. I don’t think console gamers realize what they’re in for with these sims.

That was the point of my joke, but I didn’t think I had to explain it.

Nothing too impressive really.... atm nothing beat the first time i ever set sight on soul calibur on dreamcast.... i think my jaw hit the floor for that
That and nfl2k were 2 games when i first saw in EGM with In game HUD i could not believe was possible. Those were mind blowing compared to ps1 games. Then i fired them up and bleep man like fucking Christmas and i got a state of the art 20k arcade machine in my house for 200.00 dollars.

Flight simulator, hell blade 2 and horizon 2 are the only 3 that looked really next generation to me. Things won't pick up until naughty dog gets its hands on the PS5 after the last of us 2. On Microsoft i am hoping playground will show some mindblowing shit in 2 years with its first forzachorizon game on series x.

Breath of The Wild looking one?

Gods and monsters? for art I can't think of any recent game that looks anything like BotW

I dont want to rain on your parade, but things doesnt work that way, i always see the same arguments with money from that, game studios like Ninja doesnt work that way, you cant just influx people and money and expect your AA game to become a cgi movie, and yes the first hellblade was a AA Game, a good lookkng one, but pretty linear and short, and last time o checked Ninja theory havent grown too much, but time will tell

They have grown to over 130 people and are working on 3 projects, stop being so negative before you even see real time gameplay. They are also using UE5 for HB2 and Project Mara, so it is very possible that is how looks when it's done.

They've confirmed to have doubled the team working on HB2 vs HB1. That's significant. That points to a game bigger in scope in all aspects.
Wasn't HB1 developed by 15 man, though?

Edit:
20, just checked.

Edit 2:

Hellblade is easily one of my favorite games of all time and Ninja Theory is one of my favorite studios (them being part of MS won't change that, even though I won't be able to play HB2), but let's not kid ourselves.
As good as HB1 one looked, it was mostly due to it's art direction. It was a very rough diamond and IQ wasn't all that great.

Ninja Theory never had the best IQ, just amazing art direction.
But they could surprise everyone, ofcourse.

I’d say Horizon FW by far but then there’s Flight Simulator and I don’t have a clue what sorcery they are doing.

I was quite impressed with the PS5 Rachet and Clank with all those particles flying everywhere and the shear amount of things happening per frame is astounding. But Flight Simulator to me is the best looking next-gen game right now, and I will pick up the XSX for that and, hopefully, Forza and Halo at launch.

He said he believes it is pre-rendered, i think so too. I respect your opinion too, I am not trying to pass what i think as the universal truth. I believe it looks cool and it is pretty, we will see when the game is released.

Because its not Real time, as usual time will tell, but is funny how people fall in the same trap, again and again

Im with you, I see a lot of people using this game in this stupid console war, and most of them havent Touched a flight sim on his entire life, but at least its on game pass

What is impressive about this? The hair/cloths are not even behaving correctly in water, lighting is baked, shadows are missing, not much in background details, and color is stylised.
Imagine it being an ingame cutscene, using the ingame model.
Same as the part where she's hiding in the foliage and pushes it aside.
The foliage reacts exactly how you expect it to react during gameplay.

Edit:.
By cutscene I mean actual gameplay captured in a cinematic way.

Did MS ever confirm that the Hellblade trailer was being rendered on a console in real time? All I remember is DF saying they weren't sure. Also, are there any pictures of videos of Flight Simulator running on Xbox, or has everything they've shown off been on PC so far?
Almost everything MS showed was running on PC (usually using a nvidia 2080ti), except the Minecraft RT demo (running at 1080p 30fps) and I think one indie game (similar to Diablo 3).

I think earlier they showed a build of Gears 5 running on XSX ?

Also Hellblade 2 cutscene was not even confirmed running real-time (not even on PC), only in-engine, which means... not real-time.

A flight sim with this level of ground gfx/detail breaks my brain.
There are lots of smaller, slow flying planes that fly lower to the ground so the detail is really nice to have. In fact my father in law is addicted to the old flight sim (had his son build him a rig literally just to play it...) and he loves to fly an ultra light around the grand canyon and national parks and such. He's a master plumber and I swear after he gets home sometimes he'll just spend hours sitting there cruising.

You need a 50mg connection to do a lot of rendering from the cloud.......I believe? Most of its streamed

Not 100% on this tho

Flight Simulator is 2 generations ahead of the competition. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Not my type of game, but damn it looks amazing as hell.

If we go by trailer, I think without a doubt Hellblade 2 was the most beautifully shot, had the greatest impact and had perfect music to accompany it. But let's be fair - that's not gameplay.

For gameplay itself, I'd say for sure Ratchet & Clank, it was very real and very impressive.

Emotionally though I still forget all these games rather quickly compared to something like Cyberpunk 2077, about which I reminisce and get hyped about constantly. CDPR is simply on another level & other studios haven't really stepped up their game from the AAA space.

Very valid points. It mostly just looks good because the character is detailed. The plants and rocks aren't even that detailed... It's mostly beautiful due to the colouring

Can you explain how the cloth/hair should behave properly and where is it lacking in the trailer ?
Can you show us where you expect finding shadows and why ?
Can you show your source for baked lighting please ?

Wait, Microsoft bought Ninja Theory?! When?! I thought Ninja made single player, story, character driven games........... that's not what Microsoft is about is it? Confused.

I wont comment on Hellblade or Mara because those were just a teasers which could be pre rendered.
And apart of that i have really seen anything that screams next gen :-/

Ms probably saw that sony keeps winning GOTY with single player, story, character driven games

And wanted a piece of the pie, ninja theory is a good choice since they won an award for hellblade.

If you can be creative, just buy someone who is and take the credit, good business
