Halo Infinite - Campaign Overview (October 25th - 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CET)

My dudes let's focus. That fucking upgrade interface.

The fact we can boost our shield power, our drop wall, and even have combo effects to equipment upgrades is fucking exciting!!

Our grappleshot gets a electric shock effect also. The fact shields can be boosted to such a degree also makes it very exciting what kinds of situations you're going to end up finding yourself in that such a thing will be necessary. And you can upgrade in the middle of a combat encounter, no need to be at a base or specific upgrade location because mjolnir should be that badass. The upgrade currency is called Spartan Cores.

When you upgrade thruster to what appeared to be the final level it added a cloaking effect too!

Check out the other effects.

I don't find it impressive either, especially with a year's delay, I'm just giving him a tip on how it works here

If you dare to criticize xbox even if you're right, it's a direct ban

non-negotiable

If you look at the bottom of the page, you can see the ban list and the reasons why these people were banned. Pretty much all fully deserved, any everyone perma banned in this thread had a Long history of console warring.

you can critique xbox or PlayStation all you want. Just don’t do it with console warring in mind. Is that really so hard for you?

Nah, this is about protecting Xbox from criticism.

I see they kinda cloned Far Cry and they polished the texture work compared to last year.
I didn't expect any miracles since all the foundations were clearly firmly in place and deeply rooted in a cross gen nature and indeed there aren't any.

Visually it isn't that impressive, but the game looks really fun, and looks more like a return to the classic Halo that I liked.

No just pointing out observations given my experience in design, animation and game development
sure.

visually the game looks much better than last year albeit a little lack luster. But that’s assuming it being available on everything affected things a bit. But it’s a nice and welcomed upgrade and the best Halo has looked in years. I’m excited to play it as it’s the Halo I’ve wanted for some time. Keep in mind and be fair to the point that the game is trying to be open world, 60/120fps and 4K.

I’m sure that when screenshots come out from the users the game will really shine.

You just tie Check points to player 1 in the co-op. Then every time that player logs in that is where you start with the CO-OP. I think then you have to workout which save file to use, do you make a specific co-op save file in addition to a SP save file.
Sounds good, but I think they might have said it gets complicated once you really get in there. I imagine it can be frustrating when you travel super far, away from your team mate, in some kind of "divide and conquer" tactic, and when you die, you're reset all the way back to your partner. Personally, I wouldn't mind that for the most part, but that's just an easy example. They may have segments of level design and such where it becomes quite complicated.

The improvements to textures alone in the last year are as drastic as comparing a console game to a ultra settings modded PC game. shadows are also improved to the same degree along with much improved lighting, atmospheric haze, particle effects, etc.

It reminded me of moving from Fallout 4 on the Xbone to the modded version I ran on PC.

I personally think the game looks great visually. I think the parts that throw off some the most are nothing more than the result of different lighting conditions and the quick camera cuts that don't do the game favors. It needs sustained, high quality gameplay footage, just like we got for multiplayer. I foresee a similar situation. Nobody knew just how good MP looked and how improved the game was graphically till we got our hands on it and could finally witness sustained gameplay.

I expect the same to be true with the campaign even with its dynamic lighting system.

Also, something cool I caught in the visually upgraded cutscenes. Chief has his grappling hook now when found in space!! You can also see it hanging by his side when the pilot found him.

In contrast vegetation and lighting as well as sub surface scattering on Aloy's skin is there sand and water react to impact greater plant density and variety only real negative is improvement to footplanting in the sand
SSS is generally used in cutscenes as you well know and Halo Infinite has it. Why waste resources on NPC's who you shoot in the face?

The canned blowing up of a particular object as an objective is used in pretty much every game bar battlefield, but you knew that already.

Then compare 30fps game to 60fps, stop with the trolling it's not going to end well for you.

I would agree with you about some of the sound design.

There's just an overall lack of punch and visceral quality to the battles. Considering how much more 343 are leaning into the psychics-based gameplay, more destructible environments would've added a great enhancement to skirmishes and the immersion imo.
serious question, did either of you play the MP flight? From what I played, and the general consensus online, the sounds was amazing!! It literally had allllllll of the PUNCH that you all are referring to. I have no reason to thins the SP would be any different.

Nah, this is about protecting Xbox from criticism.
In what dimension has this board been devoid of Xbox criticism? Xbox gets criticised all the time. Do you feel it necessary to keep people who are excited about the new Halo from getting TOO excited? I just don't understand people sometimes.

On topic I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen. The game looks to have lots of varied gameplay elements and I can understand the logistics behind the challenge of making this kind of game with in Co-op. I thought some of the dialog was cheesy but that isn't going to keep me from playing and enjoying this title. I hope it rates well, Xbox can always use a big win.

I have not. Although some sounds (and effects) from what I've seen of the multiplayer and the campaign aren't as visceral as would like them to be. Specifically with the explosions.
The soundscape rings a bit shallow at times considering how big the map looks. Just tiny details like hearing shots reverberating across the map would be cool.

I'm literally over here already game planning and thinking about what kinds of encounters we will be where we need these kinds of upgrades lol. I'm guessing at a certain stage in your shield core upgrades you probably get armor lock? I see some brutes using a form of it to protect themselves from damage.

There's a point where a chopper tries to run over a brute and he protects himself with some shield ability.

Same folk still crying/downplaying? Yep. No surprises there.

Game looks great, absolutely no complaints.

Having played all the Halos, I also know the campaign will be fun - they always are.

But the best thing about Halo is the sheer value for money. Solid lengthy campaigns (fun solo and more fun again in co-op), coupled with huge multiplayer.

I’ll be all over this bad boy for years. Genuinely excited.

Report me if I continue to console war
Im guessing my 2020 vs 2021 footage comparison thread was closed because mods want the discussion in one place?

Pretty sure technical analysis threads of other games are aloud as well as the trailer thread.

I recommend you wait until you try it. Honestly one of my favorite parts of the MP test was the sound design, I thought it was incredible. The weapons sounded strong, the abilities sounded unique, the game definitely has the classic Halo vibes, and they had added so much to make it feel fresh. If you are a Halo fan, I think you will be surprises once you try it.

I wonder, since they said infinite is supposed to be a GAAS and get content for years, if they mean SP or only MP and if that means that Microsoft plans to keep the XO version also updated and supported through the whole Series SlX generation.

Honestly would be a bummer as I think this game could hugely benefit from dropping Last gen consoles.

Over a million views on YouTube between the Halo channel and Xbox and a 1% dislike ratio (not that I give a shit) but I'd say the team at 343i can sleep well tonight bravo. Between this and the flights what a turn around.

Those are in engine cinimatics. Not CGI

It doesn't matter. They're not rendered in real-time in either case. They're offline rendered. So neither is representative of the visual upgrade in gameplay graphics which are clear and being commented on by everyone in this thread.

Changes in offline rendered CGI is less relevant, as that's not what you're gonna see for most of the time while playing the game.

I'd imagine once the series base gets large enough, much like destiny they stop updating/drop last gen. Theres always the cloud at that point for the paupers.

Can you fly in Horizon? Hint: No
How many NPCs are on screen? Fewer than Infinite.
Different games, different rendering priorities.

The Amiga Brotherhood
Looks pretty solid based on this showing. It will be interesting to see how Far Cry-ish it gets, as I quite like the linear but open nature of the earlier Halo games, so for me it's a risk them trying this, but it could be interesting.
