Most people cant tell 1440 from 4k...4k is good enough till video walls become the standard.
This chart is a bit naive. I sit 2-3m from my 75" TV, I use it as both as a monitor for work and for entertainment and with a full chroma 4:4:4 signal it's a VERY big difference between 1080p and 4K. I've also experienced a 8K 75" TV and it's only just makes a difference when you are viewing thin sharp graphics like text on screen. 4K is plenty unless I were to get a larger TV at the same seating distance. Again the chart is not quite honest. It's probably more based on viewing TV shows or movies that often are a bit soft to begin with. Even then, looking at true 4K videos (not the typical Marvel/Hollywood's movies that uses 2K DI and then upscale for release and being falsely labeled as 4K) still does make a difference from my seat.
In my case, but I can understand it can be different for you, when I had a 45" Sony TV, 2k was enough. But a year ago I changed to a 65" LG oled and now those same 2k seems blurry at that sizeWell my TV is 43” Samsung 4K TV and the room I play my games is not big so I relatively sit close to my TV when playing games.
I like beautiful visuals but in my case I value aesthetics way more than raw graphical power. In my case, but I can understand it can be different for you, when I had a 45" Sony TV, 2k was enough. But a year ago I changed to a 65" LG oled and now those same 2k seems blurry at that size![]()
The 32:9 kind yeah, not the pleb 21:9.4k is nice, but Ultra wide is where it's at!
It should always increase no matter what. People would be fine with 720i if they never knew shit could look way better. Dont just settle.
They shouldn't even think about 8k until a majority of games can hit 4k. Right now most games are still making sacrifices to hit something that even resembles 4k.PS5 lists compatibility with 8K displays, and Xbox Series X is technically capable of outputting 8K as well. 8K displays are already available for consumers for quite some time and the industry won't ever stop trying to sell us new stuff.
A lot of people said 1080p was good enough when 4K displays came out, and now we see people complaining, in this very forum, that it's a shame that Dying Light 2 could "only" run at 1080p 60fps on the newest consoles.
We won't see 8K become mainstream this generation, but do you believe it will happen at some point in the next one? If that happens, do you believe that's a good or a bad thing? And how do you feel about 4K? Is it enough or is there still room for significant improvement in the resolution department?
At what point does it stop making sense to pursue greater screen resolutions?
why do ppl need more resolution? they want to wank on protagonist babes' arsehair in fine detail or wtf? 1080p for all and fuck off!PS5 lists compatibility with 8K displays, and Xbox Series X is technically capable of outputting 8K as well. 8K displays are already available for consumers for quite some time and the industry won't ever stop trying to sell us new stuff.

1440p is barely any better than 1080 unless you use good aa, ch etcHow many games were actually properly 1080p consistently last gen? Most employed some sort of DRS - is there some sort of comparison?
Provided we get 1440, I'm happy with the below priorities:
Frame rate
Post processing
Asset quality
Animations
Higher res
If it is 128k doesn't matter the size of the screen128k at 24000 fps is probably good enough for a 2 inch screen.
480p - 720p is a 300% increase in pixels.1440p is barely any better than 1080 unless you use good aa, ch etc
