Phil Spencer: announcement this week

What the fuck does this even mean?

4d chess apparently.

Making people doubt their investment in Xbox to the extent where their biggest shills are throwing in the towel and some people are selling their consoles, it's all part of the plan.

Feel there will be a lot of tears on here next week when Phil tells us Xbox consoles are going nowhere, and all this ends up being what the orig rumour was, HiFi Rush and Sea of Theives (and possibly other MP or live service centric games) being ported to other consoles.
Possibly the usual 'case by case' message in terms of other games coming to other consoles, maybe 1 year after release on Xbox etc.

But the console is still important to them, Gamepass is still important to them, Gamepass needs hardware, etc, etc.

As long as MS supports their platform, I can't understand why these self described "Xbox Fanboys" would be so upset. I guess it really was about being able to say "look what I have that you can't have" for them.

Now if they pulled a Sega, and quickly quit supporting their platform in favor of others, that would be cause for concern and even I would be ticked off.

Sony getting a 30% cut of Microsofts first party titles is wild, but I guess it's better than not being able to balance the sheets for your own studios projects because you don't have enough boxes to sell it on.

A business update certainly sounds like an event where you would announce a change in strategy. I’m sure there will also be some recommitment to hardware, console refresh, new controller colours or something to placate the fanboys. Talk about Xbox as the best place to play.
"exciting new vision" was not said.

Of course PR will try to spin this as a positive...but at the end of the day is about the games.

sony is about to have FFVII maybe even reaching a 90+ on MC. The big games that MS has, could very well be delayed to 2025.

It dosen't matter what phil says, games have to be delivered and they will continue to struggle. Xbox Fans are done with this bullshit.

If thats the case then why the fuck does it make a LICK of sense to wait until next week to say that? When you are badly bleeding, you don't wait to start treatment. It does far more harm than good to wait. At this point, the bandaid needs to come off.

C'mon man.

Phil next week: We are not leaving consoles, here's an xbox branded Acer, also for your troubles, everyone will get 2 weeks of GPU for free. Yes everyone!!!

There's more to MS' strategy here. There's not much demand to warrant bringing their games to PS. I don't trust it one bit and I hope Sony has protections in place.

well, i havent been on gaf for over a year but seeing the news about this i just had to come on to see the reactions😅

edit: well nevermind it feels like its been a year lmao but hey im rarely on the internet these days since i got a job and going out is actually really nice 😜

Xbox fanboys gave the worst scenario on X yesterday. Then during this week Phill of Lies will convince MS to hold main games as exclusives and only old crap will come to other consoles. This is my bet.
I would have believed that IF Phil had said something like that just now. Instead he says" business update" which basically is admission that there is a lot of fire. If stuff like Starfield is not coming then he would have flatly denied it. It does far more harm than good to let it fester.

Exactly. It's good news for everyone.

No tears, just frustrated that I feel they should of done a much better job with Xbox since 360 and people have defended and applauded them for barren years, mediocre releases and constant lapping up buzzwords like “we hear you “ “we are listening”

Wanting them to be the best it can be isn’t a negative. It’s the bullshit and the nonsense narratives people push that irk me.

I'm going to save my knife twisting for the high profile shills.

Members of this forum who are sad, I'm sorry. Suffering can come from things that other people don't see as important and I hope people chill on the schadenfreude towards fellow members here. You still belong here and there will be a ton of fun gaming ahead for everyone. <3

Shall I pull up the posts? Don't recall if you said it but it was said, that Phil had been silenced by the powers that be. We now see he was waiting to get everything announced officially, but obviously the leaks have led to this tweet.
Oh, I've said he was probably sidelined.

But you acting like there was some victory here looked dumb af, because Spencer is the one that's supposed to address the issue, as head of Xbox.

It doesn't matter if its one, two or three games eventually they'll all start coming out on all platforms. This is just them preparing their fanbase for the future.

If you like xbox great you can keep playing with their hardware (either they make it themselves or not). If not enjoy it in other platforms.

Like I said many months ago they were literally 1 platform away from becoming 3rd party.
