Animal Crossing amiibo Card Series 2 has been delayed in Japan from its September 30th launch. New launch date yet to be determined. It appears that the sales of the Series 1 cards far exceeded expectations. Reshipments coming in late August. Planned production of the Series 2 cards has been shifted to Series 1.

Feel free to correct my translations if I'm off

I can only imagine how fast the figures will sell.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

I better get the figure Amiibo, otherwise I will be pissed. Don't care much for Amiibos but the Yarn Yoshi and AC ones are must haves.

I bet the cards have even better margins than the figures.

Much easier to create, as well.

Here, they just need to program the NFC chip, print out the card and implant the chip as opposed to the months it takes to do figures

Not surprised, given people were going in stores and asking to buy every single box they have.

I won't be doing that if Pokémon ones come...honest :p

Heh, people around here did that with the Rumble World stuff. One guy even snapped up the box of bonus Kyurem figures from my local store, which greatly annoyed me.

Ah, nice! Haven't been keeping up on Japan release dates since I have an American 3DS. Gonna head to Kyoto then to buy some cards! :D

But ...doesn't this thread exist because they're basically selling out? :)

Either hurry or wait until the restocks ^^

I imported all mine (except the Kyurem) from a friend who lives in Japan. Thankfully, they came in three waves rather than all at once which made it easier, plus you could see what was in it by the colour of the capsule

Is this the first time a product has been delayed because the previous line was too popular?

Yep this is a first for amiibo that production of a new wave was halted to reproduce the previous wave. Im glad Nintendo did this animal crossing is ridiculously popular in japan compared to other countries.

I was lucky to find one booster pack in Japan after trying 10 stores ON release day... (And that was because the store only allowed people to buy one pack). The situation is pretty crazy here. People waited for stores to open and then bought all the boxes :(

Good that they're delaying series 2. I can't imagine printing cards to be that difficult so hopefully the shortages are cleared up soon :(

Its truly the end times...

Amiibo is doing really well but these cards... i can only imagine when they hit the rest of the world... And if Pokemon NFC cards become a thing... I can only pray...

The thing that amazes me is that Nintendo has been able to see pretty much this exact merchandising scenario play out up close with Pokemon since the 90's, and yet it still took them all of this time to start seriously applying it to the rest of their business.

If the prices we're seeing floating around for Europe are any indication, I'm not sure we'll see the same problems in the west.

Holy mother of Zeus. Nintendo found itself such an easy revenue stream (from a development perspective).

Crazy. I just hope I have plenty to do without buying these things.

I really hope Nintendo does a test-run of completely useless "amiibo" and realizes people will buy them without being tied to in game functions

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I wonder how much outrage it'd be if you can use Pokemon amiibos to obtain free mons in main games.

Good on Nintendo for it exceeding expectations.
Series 1 doesn't have any of my favorites tho, so they better get on releasing the others!
