Bethesda Softworks is offering fans the “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to become an NPC in The Elder Scrolls 6.

The opportunity was shared on Monday as part of a Make-A-Wish charity auction, with the winning bidder able to create their own NPC for the next Elder Scrolls game.

“This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows you to immortalize yourself in one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time, The Elder Scrolls VI,” the auction description reads.

“The Elder Scrolls series, developed by Bethesda Game Studios, is renowned for its vast open worlds, deep lore, and immersive storytelling. With this exclusive experience, you’ll work with the developers to create a custom character that will appear in the game, leaving your mark on the legendary franchise.”

The public can bid for the The Elder Scrolls 6 NPC opportunity over on the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic auction page.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced at E3 2018 with a brief teaser trailer which confirmed it was in pre-production at Bethesda Game Studios.

Bethesda game director Todd Howard has stated on a number of occasions that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be Bethesda’s next release, followed by Fallout 5.

Asked if he regretted announcing Elder Scrolls 6 so long ago, series director Todd Howard told GQ in 2023: “I have asked myself that a lot. I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually.”

Commenting on what he’d like to achieve with the game, he said: “It’s like… I don’t want to answer, but I want to be polite. I will say that we want it to fill that role of the ultimate fantasy-world simulator. And there are different ways to accomplish that given the time that has passed.”

Well at least Bethesda are talking about TES 6, so it's better than nothing i suppose, i only wish someone else was making Fallout 5 due to how long it's going to take, but if someone wants to be an NPC, fine, that's great.

You’ll be the general store merchant in the first town but all you sell is used over priced copies of bronze shields.

The store will be called GaymeStop. Your Npc will be an emo goth trans Lizard person who identifies as a Khajit, so you wear furry ears.

Absolute cinema.

Has peter molyneux vibes radiating from that offer, prepare for that monkey paw wish as they bait & switch the prize for something else.

Considering all the scammy shit they have pulled in the past including illegal stuff (cough fallout 76 cough) I wouldn’t trust them an inch.

What an honor being choosen to be a janky generic NPC that will probably clip through the ground and die.

The fact that seven years later all they've got is still the old ass teaser trailer in E3 2018 gives me no hope this game would come out before 2030.
I suspect that teaser was released around the time Microsoft (and potentially others) approached Bethesda about buying the company. Nothing like a bunch of hype to increase a company's valuation.

It's up to $11,650 already. It might have been nicer to sell $10 lottery tickets to the fanbase, and have the winner picked at random. This is just going to sell to some richie richard who probably doesn't know his Elder Scroll from his elbow.

While I was away on a long vacation a writer at the studio I work at suddenly passed away 2 years ago.
When I came back nobody told me and I found out when I saw him as a quest giver in one of our DLCs...

While it was a nice hommage I was pissed off I learned of his passing that way.
He was a great guy and I miss his jokes and enthusiasm to this day.
