Sebastian Kalemba, who is game director at CD Projekt, has come forward to clarify that there has been no change to Ciri's appearance, presenting the same in-game model of Ciri as seen in the original trailer.

Yeah I brought this up on the other behind the scenes thread as well. And people were celebrating as if they suddenly made her good looking. She always looked good. About as good as you can look with a giant scar on your face and a really bad mood with unflattering camera angles

Edit: but then I also think space mcbaldy in intergalactic looks good. So may be I should stay quiet on this subject 😆

Looks like the same model in different lighting conditions tbh

The problems of modern rendering pipelines with more realistic lighting setups than raster of previous gens with hero lights and overall static shadows impacting characters. Along with better facial animations. We had since dawn of 3D graphics "doll" faces comparatively.

Now I'm not saying they didn't modify model or anything, I honestly don't care, but the point is that unless you have cinematographer director tweaking path tracing lights non stop to control how characters look in a full RTGI scene, then you'll have points where the characters do not look at their best. Its the cost of modern more realistic lighting rendering. If peoples want to find "bad" shots, they'll be able to do their little mud digging and find bad shots to fit their narrative.

Its their decision to make her look like that in the trailer .

Its a cgi , not an ingame screenshot , every frame is intentional . They could make her look better or worse if they wanted to .

If I would look closely, I'd say that her eyes and eyebrows have a slightly sharper angle, the nasolabial fold is slightly shorter and shallower, her cheekbones look slightly higher and overall, her face looks slightly shorter. But that second shot is probably the absolutely best lighting they could have used to make the model look good, so it doesn't mean all that much and we'll still have to see how it turns out.

The Ciri in the reveal cinematic was not only uglier than her previous showings, but a large part of the problem is the attitude/expressions, where you get some indication of what her character is going to be like (angry girlboss) and perhaps what the whole game might be like.

Simps for Amouranth
This is starting to get beyond a joke now, there was nothing wrong with ciri, she looked like a an attractive woman, that's all we're asking for, just stop making the girl protags look overly male/ugly, there's no need to swing fully the other way and make everyone look like that chick from stellarblade

She looks different and it is immediately noticeable to anyone.

Meanwhile, CDPR: “no no we didn’t cater to the chuds, it’s 100% the same model, just different lighting and stuff”

Lmao

That's it. She suddenly looks like the Witcher 3 model again after looking very noticeably different in the reveal trailer. No it's not a trick of the light. And we're being gaslit into being the crazy ones

i actually think the "bullshot" looks worse. also shit changes in development. Geralt looks way worse in the development version. Almost like they whipped his model right out of Witcher 2 lmfao

And you're conveniently ignoring that Cyberpunk looked way better at launch than it did in the original gameplay trailer but let's not talk about that.

Boggles the mind that The Witcher IV (and so many other games past and present) could simply have a face editor and avoid all this drama.

How dare Ciri age since the last game.

I actually think she's quite attractive in the newer promo material. She has a look of my first serious gf, back in the day.
