Via Deadline, a Claymore live-action TV series has been announced, adapting the series of the same name created by Norihiro Yagi; Shueisha published the series in its Monthly Shonen Jump magazine from July 2001 to July 2007 before it moved to Jump Square from December 2007 to December 2014. Oka is an executive producer alongside Propagate Content's Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens and Rodney Ferrell, alongside Shueisha. No writer has been confirmed.

I feel like western comic adaptations have "been cracked" for live action translations (still lots of bad ones, but the visual language is there) but they are still figuring out video games and ESPECIALLY manga/anime. That hyperkinetic over-emoting quality is sooooo hard to move to live action. Still waiting for the perfect one to pave the way for others to follow.

I feel like western comic adaptations have "been cracked" for live action translations (still lots of bad ones, but the visual language is there) but they are still figuring out video games and ESPECIALLY manga/anime. That hyperkinetic over-emoting quality is sooooo hard to move to live action. Still waiting for the perfect one to pave the way for others to follow.

Yeah, even when dealing with over the top stuff, a lot of comics tend to have a more grounded look and writing than manga. Mangas tends to have more stylized designs and over emoting character that just become awkward and cringe when you try to adapt them to live action.

Most of the manga that could actually work well, like a lot of stuff from Naoki Urasawa, or Planetes, or Real, tends to fall into a similar grounded style.

Yeah, the inherent over-the-top nature of manga/anime, both visually and emotionally, makes the live action transition difficult without the CGI and acting coming off as ugly and cheesy.

Something like Monster would translate well, since it's already pretty grounded. But nooooo, HBO just had to go and tell Guillermo Del Toro to go fuck himself.

After the succes of One Piece and Avatar in Live Action, this was inevitable.

Manga is Hollywood's current white whale and potential get out of jail free card. If you can crack how to adapt these series then studios have access to a literal mountain of IP that is NOT owned by Disney or WB.

The anime is pretty good but only covers maybe like 20% of the manga.
The manga is pretty good too, though IMO the first half is definitely the stronger one.

Perfect casting:

I just watched the anime for the first time.

1. What a masterpeiece.

2. Given the themes presented in the show, I was shocked that there are basically no woke-takes online. I guess the anime has flown under the radar of the woke "tourists" harpies

3. Which brings me to this point: It’s going to suck so much when the story of this anime gets hijacked by the fucking woke mob, and in turn, the anti-woke push as well. It's going to be a mess.
