Ugliest game of the show.
Well the game does seem to have a few redeeming qualities. 👀

After the death of Felicidad’s ruler, the despotic overlord Glaza seizes power and imposes an oppressive regime on the world’s inhabitants. As Ten and his fellow Farmagia friends, command an army of monsters as you explore and battle across the treacherous lands of the Underworld, collecting resources to take back to your farm. There you’ll upgrade your skills as a Farmagia, growing more monsters to nurture, and developing their new traits to aid your battle against Glaza and the Oración Seis.

With his signature style, Hiro Mashima brings forth memorable character designs and unique monsters to make Farmagia the ultimate monster-farming and action game!

Some people in Japan said this game is kinda like Rune Factory when they saw it.

I mean, that's a little the point, that it's another Harvest Moon-type game with a grander adventure beyond its gameplay. This game though is team-based and more minion-oriented in combat and monster raising, it should be pretty distant in how it plays.

Also, there's already a new Rune Factory coming (or rather Rune Factory spinoff, called Project Dragon, so we're covered there too.)

Reviews are starting to come in, but I'm not sure how many people are interested in picking up this game. Rather than creating a dedicated review thread, I'll just share the reviews here.

Critic Reviews

Farmagia is a narrative-driven action-strategy game that blends farming, monster-raising, and real-time combat in the fantasy realm of Felicidad. Players join protagonist Ten and his allies in resisting a tyrannical regime, forging bonds with Elementals, and navigating satisfying combat mechanics centered on timing and parrying. Despite some underdeveloped world-building and maze repetition, Farmagia offers rewarding gameplay loops, memorable character interactions, and a surprisingly immersive English dub, making it a standout gem in 2024's lineup.

Impulsegamer - Nay Clark - 4 / 5
Farmagia's unconventional gameplay mechanics are a hit while not being excessive or carrying the entire game on these procedures. The mix of gameplay elements is original, congenial for fans of the genre, and captivating for those who are curious. While the makeup of the environments and actually running around in this world may seem somewhat barebones and dry, the complexities and layers implemented in Farmagia make strategizing and actually participating in the game's functions compelling and gratifying. The anime style may be overdone, but experts in this field make this element bearable for the most part. Music that dominates, incredible voice acting, conceptually cool monsters, and substantial graphics and character designs make a game that's hard to miss. Farmagia harvests up the qualities that make a game great and triumphantly forms it in a way that flourishes into something special.

With its mix of creature collection, strategic monster battles, and farming mechanics, Farmagia offers a unique experience for RPG fans. Despite its performance hiccups and dense tutorials, it has charm, though not every player will enjoy the fighting aspect of the gameplay. If you’re willing to push through the initial learning curve and forgive the occasional slowdown, Farmagia provides an experience worth investing in.

Nintendo Life - Paulo Kawanishi - 7 / 10
Farmagia offers a fun and solid experience for fans of the fantasy genre. With great art and entertaining dialogue, this game is the perfect fit for those longing for a magical adventure. Although it is not necessarily a great farming game, Farmagia works well as a bridge for players who might want to try a more action-oriented adventure. On the other hand, seasoned players of action RPG games might feel frustrated because of how simple combat is in Farmagia. Still, we believe the game's positive aspects make Farmagia a great example that, when done correctly, even the simple feels fantastic.

The Outerhaven Productions - Scott Adams - 3.5 / 5
Farmagia is a unique cross between a farming simulator and monster battling. The art and world are fun to be in and explore, though I wish you could explore it more and less of the mazes.

Bought the PS5 physical edition. Not sure if I’ll play it this weekend or wait until I finish Nordics. I’m excited to play, though.

Started this last night. It’s pretty fun! I don’t even know how to describe the gameplay. Mission-based randomized dungeons with monster ranching?
