is Anyone Still Psychologically Damaged That The 2006 Prey Sequel Didn't Happen?

Because I know I am. Personally I find a 2006 game better than the game that came out that I wouldn't even call a remake or reboot but simply just a game using the same name.

And from what I understand Human Head got really screwed by Bethesda.

The idea of playing a bounty hunter in a nearly planet wide city like Coruscant just looked and seemed so amazing. Not to mention how much I just love the 2006 game to begin with.

Of all the games that almost happened, I find this and the Star Wars Rogue Squadron compilation for Wii to be the only ones I ever occasionally think about and regret missing out on.

I am more damaged by the “eh, fuck it 🤷‍♂️” we got from Valve for Ep3/HL3.

And the vaporware formerly known as StarCraft: Ghost

I loved that game but I’m in the group of about 10 people who didn’t like the way the sequel took. It looked like a game in maybe the same universe but not a real continuation of the first game. I wanted to continue Tommy’s story.

Oh I don't think the 2017 game is bad at all. I think it had a very unique style and the story wasn't bad either. But I would rather have seen a more traditionally weird science fiction story like the 2006 version was.

The biggest damage is duke nukem forever 2001 never happening.
Supposedly 2002 build was really far.... at least we have 2001 build leaked

Just joking, more seriously, I'm actually more "damaged" for no Dead Space 4 from Visceral Games and the missing The Order 1886 sequel after having built such a fantastic world and lore.

Oh please. Order 1886 is the definition of style over substance.

I think you misunderstood me. I was talking about the same game as you in the OP. In my view Prey 2017 has no relation to Prey 2006, but I also love that game.

Yeah the layers upon layers of ways Bethesda fucked Human Head throughout that whole ordeal was diabolical.

The whole reason they forced Arkane to name their 2017 game Prey was to prevent the IP from reverting to 3D Realms, which would allow Human Head to seek a new publisher. That arguable fucked over not only Human Head but Arkane's game as well.

This. So much this.

Whatever the other prey was or the newer one, was not this.

I loved both Preys. I did want a sequel to the OG a lot, but I did end up liking what we got. Now that a sequel to the former is a lost cause, I do hope we get a sequel to the new Prey iteration eventually. I remember 2006 was Prey and FEAR in the same year. Loved both games, I remember debating with friends which one I liked better.

Speaking of which, would love a FEAR remake.

I don't mind so much since Prey 2017 was so peak and I never got to experience 2006. Still, I'll take a System Shock spiritual successor immersive sim over some FPS any day.

Can't deny that the E3 slice they showed looked kind of cool and gave solid Bioshock vibes. I feel for the fans. Pretty weird to have a completely unrelated game in a different use the name. It doesn't make sense.

EDIT: Just read about their reasoning to use the name. Corporations suck ass man

You gotta post the videos man, people don't get it:

I wonder if things would have been different for Bethesda if it actually released.

All they had was this vertical slice. The game never got anywhere near this point.

It wouldn't have been anything like this on 360.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
No.

The 2017 Prey we got as a consequence is one of my favorite games of all time.

I need a sequel badly. New Turok ain’t doing it for me. This is the type of DEI we need.

Prey 2006 is one of the few games out there that tapped into the native American theme which you don't get these days, I would love to see a developer try a red-dead redemption like game from a native American perspective but nobody would be bold enough to do it...

What a game, top ten goty.

They should make a remaster or a remake plus a sequel. Also the lore is worth expanding.
