If Ryo from Shenmue were a gal instead of bloke, how would it affect everything in the story if at all? The ideas and relationships the character has and how they react mentally and physically to the events in the story around them. Would her name be Ryona? If so, I'd intentionally go for more game overs....

On topic I really liked the Linkette or Linkle or whatever her name was. I've seen some very well done Rule 34 Pirahna(sp?) Plants and Shygals which were quite interesting lol. The Super Maria Sisters could be fun, some pretty ladies helping the Prince of the Mushroom Kingdom. Goin' for a romp on Yoshina haha.

I have gotten a few names, but only one person in the topic went through the rest of the idea to describe how it would change the story or events in the game or how the character perceives said story, and their interactions with other characters. Rule 63 is only half of the equation. I hope further posts include this information as well instead of just naming the character to be changed.

Most male to female changes would be ok (tho most people would be saying stuff like "agenda" or "girl boss" if they've ever saw a gender swapped Marcus Fenix or Dante).

Much more ridiculous would be some female to male swaps, like Bayonetta, Lollipop Chainsaw or Stellar Blade.

Can you imagine swapping Bayoneta's model with a guy? Or Eve's?

It's a little difficult to come up with meaningful changes to stories without it just becoming sexist stereotypes or simply "that interaction would be with the opposite sex instead". Most would just be feeding that stereotype of what is OK for a man or woman to do. The mentioned male to female swap for Dante or Marcus fenix for example would likely just be change her attitude to not be 'a girlboss' and their names to Dantea and Marcia.
