leaked Insomniac inclusivity training video

I'll try and keep an open mind for now. Having a transgender character doesn't automatically make something bad. I thought Baby Reindeer on Netflix was phenomenal, and it goes out of its way to tell a really interesting, and really norm-challenging story, and has a trans character in it. I just don't know that I've seen any Sony game with the writing chops to really tackle anything like that at all. Baby Reindeer is based on a true story. Most DEI stuff instead starts from the premise of wanting woke things in it, then works backwards to try and find some kind of story. I guess we'll see. The stuff about the society not accepting women leaders is more cringe than anything else at the moment.
It's a shame cause inclusivity isn't an issue, and never should be. It's just the way that a lot of these studios are doing it just feels so... forced. To the point where it doesn't feel like it's coming from a genuine place. I personally try not to care too much when it comes to all this stuff because I just want to play and enjoy games, damnit. In most cases I just feel myself roll my eyes (internally or externally) and just move on. The extreme ranting from all angles you see online just gets so tiresome, it's like it revolves around almost every kind of topic these days. So I just do my best to not drown in negativity.

so weird you say this. i just read a british detective/mystery book which, once the somewhat bizarre murder weapon was revealed, instantly made me think that the whole story had basically been written around it. i've read/seen other mysteries that also fall into this category of 'come up with clever crime, then work your way back' style of story writing. &, yeah, i feel that it's very similar in the way that this stuff is also 'integrated' in a sorta 'tail wagging the dog' type way, in that the story doesn't just organically lead to these characters/events, rather it feels like it's reverse engineered around them...

the giveaway is often no more complicated than comparing a recent game in a series to previous, 'un-woke' ones, with ratchet & clank: rift apart being a glaring example. as well-intended as it all might be, it comes off as heavy-handed & awkward, & the quality of the end result suffers for it...

It always baffles me that people deny DEI impacts the quality of games, when you just have to take one quick look at their own page and it's all right there.

Forspoken - killed the entire studio with her friggin mind!
Gotham Knights - trash
Suicide Squad - crap, hated for it's writing and character assassination,
shadow gambit - swapped the main character for a black woman mid-development, studio went bust
Alan Woke 2 - another race swap mid-development, fans didn't like writing, still hasn't made back its budget.
Spiderman 2 - character assassinated Spiderman in favour of Miles, BLM mini-games, sold less than first game, "underperformed" by Sony's own metric
Space Tow Truck - This is where we are at now, a game about trucks in space needs a diversity consultant

And these are the projects they are proud of 🤡

And half of what you typed her just isn't true. But then you also act as if the "non woke" games are all great and sell 20 million copies.

Stop with the foolishness.

DEI was at the conception of those games, though. Every creative decision was smeared by it. What is disingenuous is to think that DEI is like a rotten cherry on top of an end product. It impacts the full process, from hiring the devs to how they market it to their target audience.
The philosophy behind DEI is anti-meritocratic. To hire people based on immutable characteristics rather than ability and skillset will inevitably (negatively) affect the end product. On top of that, the petty resentment inherent in the DEI mindset leads to an "eat their own" purity spiral. To quote myself:

Expectations: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

Reality: Division, Exclusion, Incompetence

Two things :
1) Another wanna-be academic/consultant who can't even use irregular plurals in English correctly (woman, women)
2) "This game isn't made for white guys." Well, guess who does make games for us? Japanese developers.

Let the West destroy their own industry. I'll be playing Persona and Yakuza while Kotaku argues about how many boxes on their DEI checklist they can tick off for each character in every game. Keep pushing disgusting manwomen with Michelle Obama shoulders as playable characters. Keep stealing those K-Pop jawbones and inserting them into your female character models. Keep putting the Burger King Kid's Club into WW2 shooter games (CoD Vanguard).

Go ahead. I'm good where I am.

I’m Jewish and thought it was kind of weird how they had every minority imaginable in Spider-Man 2 but not a single Jew in all of New York. And now I understand why lol. Seeing us is probably very triggering to the progressive gen z audience they’re trying to cultivate.
They removed/harrased jewish ppl already in 30s in germany when infamous painter got to power, u can tell things are going in wrong direction nowadays too with those woke shitheads.

Back then they were annoyed with jewish faith ppl who owned any business too, just like they are today(on top of all other things), they rather promote "looting"(as players we know best it should be named stealing/vandalising, rl isnt a game, its real ppls hard earned money/business) or/and defunding the police(srsly wtf, only fully deranged ppl would want that, or some younglings who never lived in bad/poor hood).

This. These studios are leading themselves towards a kakistocracy. You can already see it unfolding in some legacy studios in the industry.

Mimimi (Shadow Gambit devs) theoretically went out on their own, I suspect none of their games were big hits as they were targetting a niche crowd. And I was actually more pissed with adding Isabelle to Desperados 3 - she didn't fit with the rest of the group at all and her powers were way too op even if the game limited using them.

These guys hate anything non-white or non-gay so much that they've attributed an honor to a dead developer to be a DEI initiative.

That's how deep the hate and conspiracy goes here with some posters. I feel like a third of all of GAF convos come to DEI and Woke talk.
I was not aware the camp fire side story was in honour of a deceased dev. I stand corrected.

However you cannot blame people for thinking that something like that is a DEI inclusion due to all DEI mandated inclusions on all types of media these past few years.

Personally I have nothing against diversity or skin colour etc. What I have an issue with is the excessive amount of check boxes forced into most products lately.

You just need to look at recent examples like Spiderman 2 and The Acolyte in TV shows to see the agenda these activists have.

So no one can deny that there is this push on our societies these past few yearsand it's only dividing people instead of making everyone hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

Most of it is harmless insights. I did find it Interesting that some people's reaction in this video was to want to make Miles (and his mum) more of a stereotype and also instantly tried to categorise Phin as 'Tomboy Fem', I don't see why you would want to categorise people in this way, very strange.
