I love Yakuza a ton, Infinite Wealth is top 5 games of the year for me, but does anyone else think this spin-off is a little...too whack? I'll probably only get this on sale or if it lands on gamepass or something.
Nah, seems rgg studio is good to make absurde situations 😂 i would like to play the zombie yakuza game also

It actually doesn't sound bad. Their authentic enough at least. I've always played in Jap but that gets boring after awhile.

Eh, that diminished my interest in the game. Maybe it was the hosts. They spent all their time fiddling with boring stuff - collecting ingredients, cooking, playing dress-up with Majima, etc. It took them 15 minutes to get to the combat, which looked flashy but unchallenging - he tore through the enemies like rice paper (hopefully there is more challenge in other fights). They spent less than a minute with the combat, then it was back to shooting pineapples out of trees, collecting mangoes, and then heading off to the karoake bar. I play Yakuza games for the main story, side quests, and combat. There was barely any of that here.

I'm skeptical of the constant goofy, lighthearted quality, too. Humor works well in Yakuza games because it is sprinkled in occasionally. The rest of the story is serious and heartfelt in tone. The occasional humor stands out in sharp contrast to the serious tone, and that is part of what makes it funny. But here the "goofy" quality seems to be the main focus. And if they're constantly going for laughs, I doubt it will be funny.

The game also seems to have more collecting and crafting elements than I like. I was initially hyped when I saw the trailer, but now I'm skeptical.

I really liked Yakuza: Zero because it was dark and muted. They all look so happy and campy now. What happened to the serious drama? Or did that die with yakuza?

They tried and they had to use the previous voice actors, but Majima sounds completely different from its JP VA and his delivery is flat as hell. Plus I keep hearing Yusuke when he speaks.

LAD: Black Flag

Really looking forward to this. LAD always delivers, lads.

I only played the two Judgment games in English because they were something new. Can't do it with LAD, it's too weird.
