Considering the bump this week I wonder if Wii U might have a 20k week next week, could obon bump + hyrule warriors push it, perhaps even slightly more than Mario kart did
It's also ok to understand that Versus had some help with the anime giving it more attention, more merchandise and advertisement being out there at the time.Jeez guys all the excuses that are being made. It's ok to say that maybe this one game should have been made for Vita over the 3DS. It's not going to cause everyone to throw their 3DS in the trash.
01./01. [3DS] Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke <RPG> (Level 5) {2014.07.10} (¥4.937) - 120.682 / 2.093.992 (-16%)
09./05. [3DS] Yo-kai Watch <RPG> (Level 5) {2013.07.11} (¥4.800) - 7.355 / 1.234.622 (-14%)
Really impressive. In a month or so the sequel should be 2x the original.
Because it's becoming increasingly obvious that Japan is essentially irrelevant on a global scale with regard to the console gaming market, and significant investment specifically in this market is like burning money.I wonder why Sony bothered to launch PS4 in Japan without any Japanese games.
Not denying that it sold well on Vita, but Vita games are more expensive than 3DS games naturally at launch, so it hurts that a 3DS game is about $10 more expensive compared to its 3DS predecessors.
Which is more than the WiiU has sold so go get your extra copies folks! >100% attach rate here we come!

So far, the producers want the spinoffs on vita and the main ones on 3ds. Who knows if their reasons are good, but at least they improve the games each time.
Estival Versus will be interesting to follow.and it will probably flop on home consoles
Price point can be a key too given that 3DS games by default are priced $40-$50, and the launch price of SK2 is more of a premium at this point.
50K at most. Just being realistic. The game has been promoted well but it's still a Wii U game that isn't Mario Kart. Then we would have seen someone preordering it. I predict sub 100k opening week.
One would assume Senran Kagura is some pretty big series reading this thread lol.
Less than 5.9 million is the vaguest prediction ever though for a console that has shipped just over 6 million.I don't think it actually needs to sell more than 7 million to beat that prediction, It's more like 6 million to outsell the lowest Mario Kart.

With the Zelda name alone maybe it'll have legs though.
What if part of the audience followed the game on Vita and didn't expect it to release on 3ds again? Would fit with some reviews. This would make sense if didn't also do a decent bit worse than Burst as well.
Fixed for money making reasons.Nintendo need an Ammibo enabled Wii U version of Youkai ASAP.
Jeez guys all the excuses that are being made. It's ok to say that maybe this one game should have been made for Vita over the 3DS. It's not going to cause everyone to throw their 3DS in the trash. Unless this shows some great legs it's going to badly underperform.
Also, no one could visit these threads and possibly think Sony has some huge TGS lined up for the PS4.

The system just reached 10M units globally, while being at dead system levels in Japan. It's lifetime sales in the territory will probably amount to not much more than one US holiday season.
Dragon's Crown on Vita managed 70k first week with stock shortages and that's a brawler. We have no data of how the games would perform on other systems. The 3DS ones are brawlers while the PSV one is a Musou-clone.
For consoles? Nope. That´s more an excuse for obvious incompetence rather than anything else. Japan is still a relevent market where you can built a 10m-20m userbase and establish new million-selling IPs and it´s also a market that supports several million-selling franchises.
If there is one time Nintendo needs to make demands, it is this. Don't wait till the hype dies down. This game along with an amiibo line would change Wii u's fortunes easily.Nintendo need a Wii U version of Youkai ASAP.

I would say that Nintendo could probably grab more of this audience on the 4DS, but honestly I'm surprised these types of games aren't being ported to mobile more. Seems like it would be....er....convenient.
Yeah, it's really easy to blame Japan while Sony is the one at fault here. PS4 doesn't have games, why should it be selling more than 5k?That´s more an excuse for obvious incompetence rather than anything else. Best case we'll see a spinoff or linkup game. Like IE on Wii or Pokémon on consoles. If there is one time Nintendo needs to make demands, it is this. Don't wait till the hype dies down. This game along with an amiibo line would change Wii u's fortunes easily.
There is merit towards Sony's launch. It's basically Sony putting down a flag to establish a base of operations so that there's at least something there, even though the base has no soldiers to actually go out and fight, but it's better than setting up the flag next year.

This sounds more like an Xbox than a PlayStation. There is merit towards Sony's launch. Wii U almost up on Vita levels of championing
The difference being that the Vita has a reasonably well performing counterpart clobbering it. Wii U is first among losers right now.

No one in the world is predicting otherwise, haha.
It's the 35K-75K that people disagree on.
When the 'winning' console is storming away selling faster than anything before and we see these numbers in this territory?Off course Japan is irrelevant now.
lol.

Yeah, I'm thinking Japan is about as relevant as a hamlet in Luxembourg.
Aye, I always used to think of Japan as something of a miners canary. I reckon all that changed when MS put out a Direct X box and let Western PC devs run rampant. The territories drifted apart as the west emulated PCs and the east retreated to handhelds.i'm always paying attention to japan since it seems that at least for the last couple of decades, the major happenings there dictate what wind up happening in the rest of the world. this has been the only time there's been such a clear difference between first and not-first (3ds and ps4) between the us/europe and japan.
i don't think it's a precursor to us and european gamers accepting mobile games as our lord and savior, but i do believe it's a sign that the traditional console market is on its way out. whatever steals attention away next time will be a killing blow.

3DS is still doing badly compared to last year, but at least it seems to finally be away from that ~20K tug of war battle with the Vita from earlier this year. There were a lot of predictions of its demise.
Yep. 2DS still needs to launch in Japan, too.
I was wondering which would happen first: 2DS to Japan or PSTV to non-Japan.
Now we know.
