unfortunately PC Steam will not have a preload option, however players will be able to preload on console

I think there's a misunderstanding with the PC release. So the pre-purchase option, which gives you Ground Zeroes for free and some DLC is available to 10 AM PT 9/1, but if you already pre-purchased, you can dl and play before that time, earliest 9/1 New Zealand time

The earliest you can DL the game is 9/1

Bummer for those with bad internet connections expecting a pre-load option. Fulton me to Mother Base if old/not thread worthy

Pretty sad in a way, but assuming that it is also releasing earlier if you are outside of New Zealand, and the game is kind of small at around 30gb, it should be downloadable before the 1st for quite a few.

Should be downloadable August 31st at 10am PT / 18pm BST

Still, it will suck for those with poor connections who need more than a few hours to download the game

9/1 New Zealand is like... 12PM 8/31 East Coast US isn't it? Depending on the file size, that isn't a huge deal unless Steam downloads really slow for you. Even then it'll be 9/2 or 9/3 at the worst?

As far as I know, nope. Steam preload files are all encripted and incomplete. The second they unlock though, I imagine it will be minutes before you have people replacing Big Boss with Solid Snake's model.
