Slightly off topic but very pertinent to seeing Nier get a patch, 6 years after its release but .....My biggest wish for this generation was to finally get full Backwards Compatibility to where, and Sony and MS probably needed to incentivize these greedy publishers, every game from last gen was updated for the current gen systems ...ie patch games for 4k/60 if possible. It seemed attainable early on with Microsoft touting the SX' emulation capabilities and FPS boost.
Well, this has totally failed to happen and even Microsoft ditched their BC program. Until consoles can find a way to get good backwards compatibility, consoles will be woefully inferior to PC. If every dev took just a tiny amount of resources they could easily patch games, the problem is they dont think they'll make "enough profit" from potential sales due to renewed interest in "old games".
I can understand this to a degree which is why i said Sony and MS needed to incentivise them with some kind of benefits. What's inexcusable is companies like Rockstar not patching RDR2 or Microsoft (after all the talk about BC) not patching Xbox One exclusives.
This is an important topic as it relates to value of buying consoles, value of subscription services that have a bunch of 720p/30 fps games on them (that nobody will want to play), and game preservation. If MS and Sony themselves cant see the value in updating their libraries than this will never be remedied.
Also, console gamers by and large dont seem to mind which is why consoles are treated like shit in the first place.
