I don't like the game, tried half a dozen time to get into it but never could, just not clicking, but I see how much effort they've put into it and KUDOS to the team.

This is probably one of the VERY FEW Devs who actually said "Yeah, we fucked up and we'll fix it" and actually fixed it, so good on them, they deserve it.
Yes and even more than that, the game has changed SO MUCH since launch, it's now in a state way beyond anything that people could have even hoped for in an ideal launch, it exceeded the initial promises a long time ago and kept pushing things further and further.

They didn't just fix it.

This is the equivalent of crashing your car into someone's garage and then buying him an island to make up for it.

It's now arguably the finest video game ever made.

They're running a catch up event that rolls about 5 previous events into one, and they're running it from now until Feb because they know people might be busy the rest of the year and Christmas holidays give people a chance to have some free time. They're also making all the timed rewards a bit easier to get to give people that extra chance.

Just good guys all round and they deserve every success.

Yeah, I went back to it a couple months ago and it was so damn different from when I got it Day 1. I still love just booting it up and casually flying around.

TRUE. They went above and beyond and honestly, that's why they deserve it even more.

Most Devs would've done the bare minimum and then said "Yeah, off to our new project", but they're STILL going strong AND developing their new game.

Even crazier, while developing their new game and creating new tech for it, they brought some of that new tech to No Man's Sky, their older game. Like the new lighting, water and weather effects from the Worlds update.
Any other studio would have moved on and kept all the new stuff only for their next game, it's really quite unbelivable lol

All it took was nearly a decade of free updates.

Props to them though. They really did the right thing by their customers and themselves.

Unfortunate though that many developers have taken from this effort that it's OK to release an unfinished game as long as you pretend you'll fix it all up later.

game is actually insane, and tbh is closer to RSI's vision for Star Citizen then they are.

NMS approach was the build the bones and core systems (macro) then expand and build upon them. RSI is working backwards, started with insane levels of detail (micro) and are trying to build the bones and systems to support them.

one of my favorite games. I still dont get how they are able to support it for this long. kudos
The game has been, and continues to be, a massive sales success. No doubt due in no small part to the gold standard support Hello Games has turned in since release.

Well deserved. I never stopped believing in the game and they never stopped updating it and improving upon it. It's nice to see them finally get the recognition they deserve.

A lesson in media training!

Hats off to them. They've done everything and put everything into the game they possible good to make good on the initial lofty expectations due to a horrible publicity push.

They announced that game not long ago, light and fire or something? I'm with you, Can we maybe get some more info about that now??
Light No Fire. And no. I doubt you get anything from it until they're certain on what they're going to deliver. They don't want a repeat of what happened with NMS
