Haven't played Brothership but TTYD is often considered the best Mario RPG. Imo it's up there, pretty close to Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and the first Paper Mario.

Brothership is an above average M&L game (decent but nowhere near as good as Superstar or Bowser’s Inside Story)

TTYD is not only the best paper mario rpg but arguably the best mario rpg in general

Youre basically comparing a 9/10 game to a 6/10 game

TTYD is a classic and the best of the Paper Mario series.

No one will care about Brothership in 18 months

Clean sweep for TTYD. Well ok then. It's settled.
If it were one of the earlier games like Superstar Saga or Bowser Inside Story, this would be a muuuuch harder debate. But brothership is one of the weaker ones (still better than paper jam, but thats not saying a lot)

I loved Bowser Inside Story. What an amazing game.

Never played TTYD, only the original Paper Mario. I'm pumped. I'll still give Brothership a go later this year. The combat looks fun.

Just be aware that there was a bit of censorship shenanigans with the switch remake of ttyd, but if you've never played it before then it may not bother you.

Shit, man... wtf happened with brothership? It looked like it had potential. I think I heard it was piss poor easy or something like that...?

I would say TTYD.

If you still have a 3DS lying around the older M&L games are fantastic.

It's gotta be thousand year door. Brothership was actually alright, it scratched the mario and luigi itch with all the timed button presses and quirky dialogue and that, but it overstays its welcome and drags on to be loooong in a way that is exhausting even when fancy AAA Jrpgs do it.

The TTYD is a creative, imaginative classic and relatively short and sweet

If you’ve never played TTYD, then that’s the obvious choice. It’s probably the best Mario RPG out of all Mario RPG games they’ve ever made. And the Switch remaster is really well made, worth every penny.

If you’ve played TTYD already I’d go for Brothership instead. It’s fantastic and I hope we see a Switch 2 follow up.
