i never really believed in that push people have for university or even college to some extent. it's an old dream now that has no real end product and you will be sunk into debt. in most cases if you go to university you're not going to come out of it in a good position. my thinking has always been to try get into jobs that will be around for a long time and have demand. electrician/plumbers/joiners etc are all respectable jobs that won't be going away any time soon. it might not be as much money but security is worth something.
Philosophy majors are quite successful statistically. And they know going in that there are no philosophy jobs for undergrads.
