Pokémon or Shin Megami Tensei V

EDMIX

Writes a lot, says very little
SMTV EASILY, put up a poll and no human should ever buy the modern Pokemon games.....don't do that to yourself. I'd say even the people that currently like the new Pokemon stuff, shouldn't really buy those games and from what I see, the older fans got the best of those ideas 20 plus years ago, I don't really believe the Pokemon games today, are to the standard quality that they can be for such a IP.

DBZ is getting better treatment and some of the games they've come out with, shit i wish that shit was around to that level of quality when i was a kid lol

I bought the Pokemon double pack for my 9 year old and [WHICHEVER_OTHER_SIBLING], but I bought Fall of Man edition of SMT V for me, myself, and I. Gotta make it look like Santa cares about the old man too, right?

Im generally oblivious to jrpg’s (except pokemon) so i will say pokemon but im biased in this context.

Xenoverse 2 is still relevant fortunately. Even still getting dlc. The next game however isnt exactly what i was hoping for for a dbz game.

plus theres always kakarot for single player action jrpg and fighterz for fighting

Get Pokémon if you like Pokémon games and haven’t played one in a while. In all other cases get SMT.

SMT V is probably better unless you are looking for a chill experience. If you don’t know the Megaten series you might struggle and die a lot in the beginning. The game gets easier later if you can live past the early levels.

Why not both?.gif

The new Pokemon looks amazing i wouldnt want to miss that out.
Between the Remakes and SMT5 i would chose SMT5 simply by virtue of being a new game and not a Remake.

Probably Shin Megami Tensei.

The problem with Pokemon nowadays is lack of ambition, interest in move foward, content and replayability. The only thing to be happy about it is the existence of new mons, because even the drill of getting them is already fuck up(used to be about getting all of what you like, but its long gone with Sword and Shield).

And this is me ignoring how terrible and cheap made these remakes are. You would end up choosing the worst remakes of all times, better stick with the original Platinum.

SMTV is a super slow burn. But OMG at 30+ hours does it reveal its brilliance and shine brighter than the sun. It's fucking amazing.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
SMT V. In fact, I would recommend any game above Pokemon, as those look like the most lazy developed games ever and are waste of a franchise.

SMT V is an amazing game. It's long, looks nice (most of the time), has an amazing OST and plays like a dream. It's a "gameplay first" type of game tho, so if you are looking for a game with lots of dialog and exposition, this might leave you disappointed.

Between SMT5 and PokemonRemakes is a no contest. But Legends Arceus looks incredible. I would chose Legends Arceus over anything right now.

Really depends on what you want. They're both about collecting monsters but other than that they are pretty much the opposite from each other.

SMT is a challenging game with a dark post apocalyptic setting, with a fun combat systems that will really require you to put thought into your team and strategy. It's the sort of game where a random group of regular enemies can kill you if you aren't careful and you'll probably hit some walls that will have you rethink or re-configuring your party to beat a specific challenge.

Pokemon takes place in cheerful cartoony world. Unless you want to get into PVP the games offer virtually no challenge, to the point you can start the game, capture the first 3 pokemon you see and beat the game with them. So it's less about the combat and team building and more about just capturing and training the Pokemon you like.

It depends on if you are looking for a challenge or not. Pokemon games are way too easy. I've only ever played one, but it had absolutely no challenge and I've written the franchise off ever since.
SMT, on the other hand, is extremely hard...especially if you play it on the hard mode. I'm currently playing through SMT V and loving it. But you will see the game over screen a lot. So if you're not looking for a challenge, go with Pokemon.

Depends on what you are in the mood for. Do you want to explore a hardcore brooding apocalyptic landscape while collecting demons along the way engaging in an adult story or do you want to take a stroll through the countryside and collect cutesy pocket monsters and battle 12 year old squeekers for the right to be the biggest dick on the playground? Shin Megami games are always worth a grab when they come out since they don't come out all that often. Out of the Pokemon games, Sword/Shield is still my favorite (despite playing Pokemon games since Red/Blue on the original Gameboy).

Do you want pokemon that is easy as hell or do you want pokemon from hell
This is it, right? SMT5 is obviously the better game, but the punishing difficulty is not to everyone's taste.

I will say, though, SMT5 isn't grindy, you get more experience from doing quests, and there are abundant items to level up specific party members so when I say it's difficult, it's more about strategy. It's about building out the right team and using the right strategy to take on bosses.

The first couple bosses feel like brick walls but once you get past them and you get the hang of party building it gets a lot easier. You'll still get rocked by bosses and probably have to retry them a couple times but you won't need to spend hours leveling up, just a few minutes reshuffling and respeccing your dudes.

I think you guys are exagerating a bit with SMT V's difficulty. It's ballbusting on hard yeah, but normal shouldn't be too hard and he always can lower the difficulty to easy if he's having trouble.

This.

SMT V is actually the easiest SMT game I have played (Strange Journey Redux, Nocturne, 4, 4:Apocalypse).

None of the bosses feel cheap.

I would argue Nocturne was easier, you can abuse the crap out of buff/debuffs in that game and you get powerful ones like Fog Breath pretty early. Others than Lucifer for true Demon ending most bosses was pretty easy in my opinion.

Bought pokemon shield when it came out and as I've said many times it's really just for kids. The first one came out when I was in high school and I missed out.

Smtv came in the mail the other day. Haven't startee it yet but everything people are saying has me excited to try it
