Their death tolls haven't halved, and are still exceptionally high - especially in modern terms. Losing hundreds a day isn't sustainable. They effectively lost 2 BTGs just a week ago with that river crossing... So no, their strategy isn't working. Not really.
And an attacking force needs to overcome quickly. If the plan here is to get the Donbas and just stop, then yeah, what they doing is working. But if it's to overwhelm the rest of Ukraine it's not going to ever work. When you move this slow, defenders can easily reposition, minimize loses, and generally claim victory through attrition pretty easily.
Fact Ukraine is only gaining better weaponry, and they have a nearly limitless pipeline of recruits while fighting on home soil.. it's impossible for Russia to achieve any of it's goals. It's not sophisticated enough, does not have the weapons to conduct fast operations nor move it's logistics in a way that can overwhelm Ukraine at this point.
So slow they may go so they don't get 40 mile convoys stuck in mud, but it's not going to achieve any meaningful result.

Well, they are kinda trying to.., at least on the surface, but according to several Russian youtubers and intercepted phone calls I've heard lately it's not completely true that life is going as usual. Hundreds of thousands of Russians jobs are at risk, high interest rates, prices. In the intercepted phone calls I've listened to they are talking about people already getting depression. I saw a video from a Russian blogger yesterday, one of the most popular shopping malls usually filled to the brim was now more looking like a ghost town. And keep in mind sanctions are tiered (politicians, elites, companies then people) and some of them will not be in full effect until years down the line.
..With that said, we in Europe are starting to feel the effect as well. Energy prices are getting crazy high f.ex... But I saw in a Norwegian poll yesterday that the majority of the people here are more than happy to pay the price (gas prices, electricity, taxes etc) for the war to "help" Ukraine. I'm proud of my country that way; When it comes to common sense most people are able to ignore political partisan lines.

That’s a nice Disney ending. Unfortunately I think what we’ll get is going to be far worse, I don’t think anyone with power is ready to seriously blame the government or start some kind of revolution when jail or death is what’s waiting. We can only hope Pootin himself eventually realize it’s time to cancel this war. He likely won’t do it without some kind of victory though.

You can look at the casualty numbers yourself. Ukraine's own ministry of defence posts updates everyday on it. By the end of the first phase of the war, Ukraine claimed Russian losses were around 18 to 19k. In the same period of time since then, they claimed Russian losses were a total of around 27k. That is about 9k in second phase and 18k in first phase. So yes, about half. And even these numbers are inflated.
If you have evidence to the contrary then please, show me.
I don't think anybody thinks that Russia's current plan is to overwhelm the entirety of Ukraine.
And how exactly would that make any difference to what I said? Let me rewrite it for you then with "bit of territory".
You don't need to leave a garrison behind for every bit of territory you capture. What would be the point of that? There is no need to station a bunch of soldiers and stuff in a bit of territory way behind the front lines. You keep checkpoints at strategic locations, and your forces at the front and other important locations.

As for the rates, they are only down from the truly catastrophic first few weeks where Russia really shoved it's own dick up it's ass. It's holding steady around 200 with 50 or vehicles per day for awhile now. Completely unsustainable, and not an improvement as a result of their change of tactics. As I posted just earlier, their leadership is still getting slaughtered daily - 20+ just on the past 24 hours.
No, they aren't coming up with a better plan unless they intend to entrench around lpr/dpr. But who knows why, cause they would just get out artilleried once they hold position by way of m777 and all the other western goodies.

I mean, when you think in the 10 years that the afghan-ussr war lasted the soviets lost like 15k soldiers, the rate of losses in the ukrainian-mordor war is pretty astonishing and probably unseen since ww2.
If you assume each orc is known by 100 orcs that means 100 people are directly impacted for each death - at 25k that's 2,5M. Now you say Mordor is big and that number is small... but news travel fast - 2,5M people telling the world they've lost someone to the war starts making waves. And as the number of dead keeps climbing... who knows.

So apparently the M777s given to Ukraine did not have the included computer systems that would have them more accurate. I guess that would have worked in conjunction with the GPS guided shells people were talking about. But now they don't seem to have those capabilities. The longer range is likely the only upgrade compared to the typical soviet/Russian made artillery units, but hopefully thats enough to still make a difference

There was an article from around April 20th that mentioned only 15 of the M777s from the US were equipped with the computer. Other countries that sent M777 earlier sent them with the system and Excalibur rounds.
Radar system for the counterbattery were coming separately from Germany at first and US sent another about a week after that. M777 has different roles and not all need the computer.
