So it really was using an older version of PSSR. I wonder if that's the case for all the games with issues as most recent releases have been great.

We're not going to see what the PS5 Pro is really capable of until we see the following:

First party games developed with enough run way to take advantage of PS5 Pro
Unreal Engine 5 games running the latest version of PSSR

Even Jedi Survivor is only Unreal Engine 4.

Good, I hope they have it running nicely on the Pro when I finish FFVII Remake and Rebirth.

Same for Hogwarts Legacy, I stopped playing both because of performance bein HORRIBLE, now with the Pro I think I can stomach them.

I just got to Jedha, and first impression just outside the ship is that it looks a lot better. (in regards to PSSR. Not sure about the other fixes)
How does it look like when you walk around the archive and the other rooms in that area? Do you see any flickering. Iirc, it had tons of flickering around closed spaces.

Hell yeah it looks way better now. I reported this on the PS5 PRO enhanced games thread but there is a weird artifact on Jedha that I encountered in cave in Perf mode. The foliage had a noticeable overbrightened halo around them that looked bad. But so far it was isolated to that one area and seemed to be related to the RTGI getting bugged. Fidelity didn't have this issue in the same area. I'd imagine there are more areas that may have some artifacts but I haven't had a lot of time to explore the patch yet. I'm sure others will cover around YouTube soon enough.

That said, the game looks much better, looks really sharp and clean, and runs really smooth in Perf mode. It's good to see that updating PSSR can have such a profound difference. There is hope for Silent Hill 2 and Avatar/Outlaws to truly fix the issues.

Looks a lot better overall, but some things to different degrees. IQ is a lot cleaner with the new PSSR, in my opinion. But textures seem to take more time to load, or I didn't notice that much before. There's still some flickering, but not as present. Pop in is still terrible for some elements like stones on the ground.

Happy to report that this update is ...shit.

Quality mode is very crisp and zero shimmer.

Performance though oh boy.
Textures load too long.
Anything in the background is blurry as hell. Zero texture detail far away.
Shimmer still very present on foliage and anything far away. I have to stand right next to vines trees etc to resolve the shimmer.
There is also a lot of grain in the picture though i turned off film grain and motion blur. I can live with shimmer on foliage but that the whole screen is grainy as fuck even standing next to a rock is aweful.
Dont know what to say.
Better than nothing as quality mode looks great but image is a stuttery mess and performance is just hurting my eyes.

Mind you my 85 inch tv will show you every blemish.

You know what. I waited long enough and at this point i am just going to delete this game.

You devs suck ass. I want my money back

odd that your impressions are so much different than mine... were you playing it just before the update? Am I broken? :messenger_anxious:

Just now.
Updated it and tried it out.
Restarted it twice to see if its a bug but no.

Quality looks great.
Issue is still with performance.

On a big tv like mine you will see bad image quality.

I can try to upload a short gif to show.
Give me a minute

I mean, it's not perfect and I noticed the same issue with texture loading, but I've been playing it since Sunday and I felt the update brought improvements to overall IQ. It was a lot more grainier and harder on the eyes than before the patch. I only play perf mode, and turned off chromatic aberration and film grain, leaving only motion blur on.

Bundy still has the same TV from the 80's, plus Peggy don't clean it....like ever
It's covered with dust, maybe that's the problem

Its improved, but it's still bad. The optimization of this game is a disaster. The devs are insistent on leaving ray-tracing in, the drop in image quality to get the game to run at 60fps with ray-tracing makes the game looks considerably worst. The devs stubbornness is borderline retarded, they spent half of year trying to get ray-tracing to work well on the base PS5 performance mode. When they finally gave up and took ray-tracing out that mode, it made the game look better due to putting the freed up resources to the IQ.

The latest version has some shortcomings, but they are not an issue for my 43" TV.
To enable RT and maintain 60fps, even the PS5 Pro will have a low internal resolution of around 900p.
To play games without glitches on your high-end TV, you might need an RTX 4090 instead of a console.

Peggy sold the good tv and left me with books.
I cant read though
That's not true, I saw you read that list you made for Marcy on how to improve her looks 🤨
Maybe this will rejog your memory

Number 10: Wear traditional Islamic garb covering all but the eyes.
Number 9: Feather removing electrolysis.
Number 8: Ski mask.
Number 7: Sew holes in ski mask.
Number 6: Hire attractive woman to stand in front of you at all times.
Number 5: Beak job.
Number 4: Put paper bag over ski mask.
Number 3: Shave head, tattoo Cindy Crawford’s face on back of head, learn to walk backwards.
Number 2: Poke out eyes of every male on earth.
Number 1: Get president to make every day Halloween.”

Shame too, because it's a great game. Even with the issues it's definitely worth a play. They honesty should adapt the first two games into a TV show or movie using the same actor.
