Starflight - A Space Exploration Game

Why is nobody talking about this game? It's a space exploration game that is very similar to Star Control 2. You explore space and meet aliens all on a quest of mystery and suspense.

I play the original on the Sega Genesis and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is also a sequel and both are available on GOG for fairly very very cheap.

This is a game.

I played it on Amiga, one of the best versions so think, and it is a dear memory for my brother and I and one of the space exploration games we most enjoy.

I played the first one on the Sega Genesis. I barely remember it but I do remember the twist ending that was quite incredible for its time. I really did not expect that ending.

This game is worth it's waiting gold and I would definitely try it out despite its age.

Completely agreed, they created a fun and yet quite serious at times storyline and species in the galaxy.

We can't mention games that are 40 years old here that people may have missed and that don't know about it and may like it? Lots of people mention retro games here. I think this is worth mentioning.
so are most of the people here.

we like retro gaming, don't we?

I was just answering the question fellas. I played the game in my teens. Loved it.

Megadrive version came out 5 years after PC and is pretty polished, one game along with Buck Rogers which I prefer to play it on the 16-bit console.
"Orbit established" or beeper sounds, your choice.

I want to know why nobody is talking about Kangaroo for Atari 2600. I skimmed the first 10 pages of topics and literally didn’t see a single mention anywhere.
I used to love that game. I even owned it on the Atari 2600.

People don't talk about this game because they lost the code wheel.
Well I have some very good news for you. The GOG version doesn't need the code wheel, if it's copy protection you're worried about.

Why are more people talking about this movie? 🤷‍♂️

Hey more people should be talking about this movie. It was pretty fucking awesome for its time and it still is.

I really wish we had more games like Star Control and Starflight.

It almost seems like a neglected genre.

Haven’t thought about this game in ages, but going to grab it on GoG if it’s there.

I would love a game like this or Star Control 2 properly reimagined for the current generation. Hell, I would love a proper Privateer or Freelancer game as well.

Edit: Joke is on me, already have it in my GoG library. 😅

I somehow missed out on Star Control and other games like it, although it always seemed like something I’d like.

I actually just started this game this morning:
Is this similar?

I've had the genesis version for a long time. Played it a few times, but not a lot. It's ones of those games I wish I knew about as a kid.

I got the Genesis cart with the yellow plastic tab and a Starflight hint book.
Also got the old PC version, I remember way way back my friend laughing at me because I forgot to check the gravity when landing and died with crushing gravity.

This is a game.

This is the direct precursor to Star Control. Some of the same people worked on both.

There was a crowdfunding campaign to make a sequel a few years back but not enough people gave. :(

Played it on the Megadrive, I dont know how to described it but its one of the most Megadrive sounding games on the console, nothing else like it.

Great game, you could fly about and land on planets, upgrade your ship and explore the universe, kind of like Star Citizen but you know out. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Such a great game. Probably one of my most played on Genesis in my teens. Along with the obscure game Master of Monsters.

Meanwhile on SNES, I had a ton of the Koei strategy games.(Romance 3 Kingdoms, Nobunaga Ambition). My friends used to laugh at my game collection. Lol
