Still Wakes the Deep on Game Pass PC doesn't have DLSS, FSR, or XeSS (it only has TSR). Steam and EGS versions support all the upscaling options.

If I was Microsoft I've be voiding that Gamepass check and updating the contracts to require parity with every other PC platform.

Main reason I ditched Game Pass was the client quality. I've got subscriptions I barely use and don't bother canceling. You have to make me mad to get me to cancel. These guys INVENTED WINDOWS are somehow have the shittiest gaming client. Makes no sense. Xbox 360 was a UI masterclass and it's been downhill ever since.

Not having FSR should be considered a feature.

But seriously, I'm sure this will be patched in a few days.

Just got home and fired it up on PC Gamepass, only to discover this game is NOT controller friendly in the menu's. I had to use the mouse to enable the HDR.
Do game developers hire people who play games?

Come to think of it, the GP client might be the worst piece of software I've ever used.

Gamepass is a POS locked down environment. Fine for trying a game if you already have a sub(which I don't think is worth it), but use a decent store like Steam where you can mod etc.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Who the fuck buys games there?

Be serious now.

Regardless. Hellblade 2 and Lords of the Fallen are 2 UE5 games that came out on PC GP less than 3 weeks ago, they both feature all the up-scalers.

Their (the chinese room's) excuse sounds bogus.

Great, so a first party game and a game that was already available on PC via all the other storefronts for 6 months (so effectively a late "port" to the windows store).

This happened with the biggest gamepass release of the year so far and the problem still persists:

Why don't you ask Xbox/Microsoft why they are failing to be more open minded with the certification process when it comes to titles releasing on the Xbox store.

Stop pointing the finger at the developers/publishers every time a game releases and there is something out of kilter with the Xbox ecosystem, the patterns are clear at this point. Demand better from the people who are in charge of running and developing the platform.

There are limitations. Anything that requires the script extenders ain't gonna work:

I don't know what their certification process is and how they can be more open minded. But if a first party UE5 game, which would have the strictest of GDK adherence requirements, can implement all the up-scalers, I don't see realistically why a third party game cannot. Clearly there is support for the feature(s) in the GDK itself.

It's Xbox play anywhere supported. Whatever version is on there will need to be the same for both the Xbox version and the PC version, unless they want to go through two rounds of certification (at their own cost).

I'll also say that the game looks very muddy, even at native 4k. Lots of low quality textures and just a generally smear-y look to the game.

Turns out my 4070 can handle this quite well, even without DLSS or the TSR. It's running over 100FPS with all the settings maxed.
I have played up to the point you hide in a locker and now I'm not sure I want to keep playing. I did not know this was going to be an actual 'game' like Outlast, I was just wanting to walk sim my way around.

Surely the developer is at fault here not Microsoft/Xbox? You're not suggesting that Microsoft enforce all the upscaling tech in its certification process are you?

Its a 3 hour extremely linear walking sim. You dont need DLSS unless it runs like shit which means u prolly should avoid it in the first place.

So lazy dev? why don't they just patch it in?

Not enough additional sales to justify the following presumably...

Adding them to WinGDK would require a custom coded solution.

But it is a new way to separate paying customers vs renters.

Presumably MS need to tighten up whatever parity clauses they're expecting from developers.

I believe that the Windows store version is somehow connected to the console version (If I'm not mistaken the Palworld dev mentioned this in regards to updates), which might explain why that build doesn't include features not supported by the console. There are games on the store that do have DLSS and thing like that, so not an exact science.
