I dont think the gamer mentality seaps into the general public. HBO has plenty of hit shows that people here would label as "dei".Really looking forward to all the same discourse over this.
Yes for both.1. Is there a golf club 2. Is there a god awful sex scene thats totally cringe.
Pedro carried that entire show. He is a phenomenal actor. Funny becuase isn't this supposed to be Ellie story?Didn’t really like the first season. Come to think of it I haven’t even watched the final episode..
Not for me I guess. I’ll stick to the games.

I'd argue the first game/season is Joel's story, or "redemption arc", such as it were. But after that, he's kinda done as a character. Where do you go from there? He'd do it all over again (he says as much in Part 2). So then the focus shifts (even more) to Ellie.Pedro carried that entire show. He is a phenomenal actor. Someone had to say it.Abby looks more like Ellie than Ellie in the show.
Personal.opinion :
I like the games but I found the show to be mediocre.
EVERYONE is miscast, many characters were race swapped for the obvious reasons (If it was the opposite there would have been the usual furore) and always IMO, it just lacks "that special something" that the games had, don't know how to put it exactly but the show feels more "sterilized/sanitized" for a lack of a better word compared to the games.
Also, did I mention that everyone is miscast ? Watching the girl playing Abby in the new trailer and...yeah, she looks like a baby.
Watched the 1st season, didn't make an impression whatsoever, it felt like going through the motions and that's pretty much it.
Out of all the HBO shows out there this isn't one of their best ones.
The issue is Bella Ramsey doesn't look like Ellie in terms of facial features, physical appearance, posture, mannerisms, or overall resemblance. She just doesn't match the character's look or feel from the games. It's a bizarre casting choice. I mean, Kaitlyn Dever would have been perfect to play Ellie, and they cast her as Abby...I'd argue the first game/season is Joel's story, or "redemption arc", such as it were. I think Ramsey does resemble Ellie a lot. When we first saw her with the red shirt from the game in episode 3 I just said that's Ellie. The issue is Bella Ramsey doesn't look like Ellie in terms of facial features, physical appearance, posture, mannerisms, or overall resemblance. I haven't seen many call Cascina Caradonna ugly.Dina is not ugly anymore, how is this allowed.
Its always funny seeing people bashing Bella Ramsey. She received a lot of praise from her performance and I would suspect that most viewers aren't even gamers. The Last of Us got whole brand new audience with the show.
This is another case of the in-game model looking uglier than the actress it's based on. But I get it, technology like that doesn't exist yet.I haven't seen many call Cascina Caradonna ugly.
I think tv show fans are more likely to accept it because they know the show is an adaptation of existing material. Story was already there. AlsoCan't wait for all the outrage and everyone who hasn't played the games but likes the show to turn against it once that moment happens.
I wonder how much they'll try to delay the "event" that starts the Part II. After that episode, the show will start to downfall (I already don't like it, but I'm curious about the people reactions, especially considering how uncharismatic is Ellie in the show compared to the game).
It would be similar to how fans reacted to certain characters in TWD or LOST. That is if they don't come out swinging, pun intended, with Joel right off the bat, but save it for the second half or season ending cliffhanger.I think tv show fans are more likely to accept it because they know the show is an adaptation of existing material. Story was already there. Alsothey might not have as strong connection to Joel and Ellie as the people who played the game. They didn't spend as much time with them. I think Part 2 is better than the first game.
