Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Respawn Entertainment Unannounced FPS Game Reportedly Canceled?

This information comes from Emilee Evans, a former Executive Assistant/Production Coordinator at Respawn, who shared the news on LinkedIn. Evans revealed that she had been working on the project for the past year, only to see it get shut down.

While the project was never officially announced, Respawn had been hiring for an “Incubation Team” for the past few years, specifically looking for developers with experience in multiplayer shooters. Many believed this was tied to a brand-new IP.

In her LinkedIn post, Evans wrote:

“The unannounced incubation project I was a part of for the past year was canceled this week, so I am joining the group of extremely talented and kind people in the games industry searching for a new role.”

Why do they call them Titanfall developers when they made the much more successful Jedi series and Apex Legends?

Projects get cancelled all the time guys. Its not fucking "news" if a project -particularly a new IP or approach- doesn't make it.

Its really starting to get on my tits the way that, in essence, business as usual - is being presented as catastrophe every time somebody leaks something.

Hopefully those big questionable projects like Concord made them think "maybe these are not the best ideas for projects". Probably cheesy trend seekers and nothing more.

Eh, no, it's not incredibly remarkable "news", per se. Projects fail to greenlight or pass a milestone before announcement like this all the time.

It is still of interest, however, that a renown studio with experience in this genre (and one that hasn't done something new in it since their GAAS took off) canceled a new project and then laid off staffers because of the failed go-ahead.

In the old days, we wouldn't have heard about it because it would have been one of a half-dozen pilot/pitch projects cooked up at a studio in the downtime between projects or at the b-team/striketeam outside of main production, and that staff would have just moved on from the bummer of rejection to do something else. However, conditions now are taut. If the developer of Titanfall and Apex can't book a MP pitch and it has so little runway because of one project failing in incubation that they have to cut staff, that says something about the market.

...I agree, it's maybe not "news" what it's saying about the market, but only because we've seen similar bad news over and over.

So a Titanfall MMO is out of the question? Let's hope not!
