Ubisoft Currently Has No Plans for The Division 3

Despite the popularity of the first two games, Ubisoft currently has no plans to release The Division 3 anytime soon.

Despite the success of the first two installments, Ubisoft currently has no plans to release The Division 3.

While things could ultimately change, those close to the company have told Insider Gaming that a new mainline game in the series isn’t in development.

The Division first launched in 2016 to positive reviews. That was followed up by The Division 2 in 2019, which has sold more than 10 million copies total.

Massive, the studio in charge of The Division and The Division 2 is now very busy with the Avatar and Star Wars games, and will be so busy for a while. Ubi is developing The Division Heartland, but another team is on charge on it (Redstorm, who basically worked in any Tom Clancy game including The Division 1 & 2).

Ubisoft and Netflix are making a The Division movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicolas Cage and Jessica Chastain. The Division was going to break the record for the best selling new gaming IP ever worldwide not only for Ubisoft (previously set by Watchdogs) but Destiny got released slightly before it and got that record.

Ubisoft is very busy with many huge games and IPs, including a new The Division game, so pretty likely they don't plan to develope The Division 3 for a while, this is quite obvious. But that doesn't mean they won't ever make it, and doesn't make sense to think they would kill one of their most successful IPs ever specially when they are working on a new game and movie of that IP.

If after the Avatar or the Star Wars game their team don't want to make a sequel of these games and pitch The Division 3 instead pretty likely their editorial team will greenlight it.

Nah, it's all public info and common sense.

To say that a company won't make more games of one of their most successful IPs while they are working on a new game and movie of that IP is pretty stupid and nonsensical. They may take a rest, but won't kill it.
