Weird Dualsense problem/fault (?)

So, was playing normally yesterday, put the console to sleep mode as to have dinner, came back later and the console wouldn't turn on when pressing the PS button on the DS.
"Weird" I thought and I restarted the console since these type of bugs usually get sorted with a restart...

Console restarts and I was able to use the DS again but, the PS button still wouldn't work as I couldn't bring up the home menu/cards etc.
After troubleshooting for about half an hour (resetting the joypad/restarting the console/removing/unpairing the DS via the BT devices menu in the system settings/trying USB modem instead of BT) it started working properly but, the PS button would start acting weird since it would function normally 6-7/10 times and I also noticed that it'd so with some extra delay/lag (taking half a second more for the home menu to pop up).
Proceeded to reset and unpairing/pairing the DS once more after which things seemed to be fine since the PS button started working normally...

Today, i go to turn on my Pro via the joypad by pressing the PS button and...it's like it's dead, can't turn the console on.
Tried plugging the USB C cable again and while it shows that it's charging (orange LED pulses) nothing else seems to work.

Has anyone else had this ? Is it a common problem ? Is it dead Jim ?

Dual Sense PS button is crap compared to DS4, why they changed it is beyond my comprehension. Also face buttons are kinda sticky and noisy. But overall is a better controller than DS4.

I would immediately ask for an exchange if you're still within the return period.

That's what I did, went to their website, created a ticket, received the shipping label and went to the post office to ship it, going to have my new (or refurbished) one in 2 weeks time.

Mind you, this is a 2 months old joypad (the one that came with the Pro), can't friggin' believe it, yesterday it was working fine, today was completely dead, how the fook is that even possible ?
I don't know if it's the battery since today it wouldn't turn on no matter what - and I did all the usual troubleshooting all over again.

Again, it's the weirdest thing, yesterday was working fine until I put the console in rest mode, after that the joypad would have problems with the PS button as in, it wouldn't turn the console on but all the other buttons worked fine and today, it was completely dead.

I get that electronics are more complex nowadays but fuck me if the quality control and general product quality hasn't gone down the shitter.

PS: I don't know how it works in the rest of the world, but, here in Spaghetti-land, they don't send you a new one but actually repair the one you've already sent (or a refurbished one), hope to God I don't receive someone else's joypad back filled with grime /scratches/whatever.

Any component is susceptible to a quality escape and early failure. They can only test so much and they try to ensure single digit fails per million for components and a little bit higher rates for the overall product. Good thing it happened so quick.

return it if you can, I have 6 and they all have issues, I just got tired of returning them they're all trash.

I'm buying a couple modded ones with hall effect sticks and better parts like someone suggested me here.

I can't say I've had this issue but there was a weird bug on the OS previously where if you press the PS button on 2 controllers at the right time together the second connects to the console but is unresponsive to anything. The first controller can disconnect the first from the quick menu so it shows as connected, then it works fine on reconnect again.

Thanks man, good to know !
I also thought that it was a bug at first but, like I explained, today the joypad just wouldn't wake/function like, at all - it's like it suddenly died, that's why I found it extremely weird.

Anyway, I'm still in warranty obviously so I've sent it for repairs - and I'm lucky to have a second, spare one - but, it's actually kind of funny that a whole console becomes a brick/literally unusable when a controller or one of its components shits the bed...

Dash, out of pure curiosity, what problems have you had so far ? Cheers

sticky face buttons, they all have drift and 2 have a unreliable X and O buttons, they click 8/10 times.

I returned them the most because of drift, then I realized it's just a widespread issue and I'll never find one that doesnt have it.

I think the best solution is just to buy a modded one instead of buying new controllers constantly.

Two little ongoing bugs I have are,
1: One out of ten times when connecting via. bluetooth the buttons map incorrectly, the lights show a different pattern, and the A and X buttons reversed. Shutting off and re-connecting 'fixes' it.
2: Some games on mac cause the controller to continually shut off. Seems like it happens when the gpu gets maxed out during heavy action.
