I could see something like this happening to me when I was younger. I jerked it with my brother in the same room while he was playing Final Fantasy VII back about 16 years ago. Since she's an adult, I don't think you need to worry. Worst that can happen is that she'll laugh at you.

Proper procedure when anyone is remotely in the vicinity though is to first check that the headphone jack is securely plugged in. Then you take the headphones off when starting the video to double check no noise is emanating.
