Morata was bottling all over the place, seemed too anxious to do good and was flopping because of it. Again, he got his fair shake, and the club still believes in him or he wouldn't have a buy back clause in place.

So since we're bringing up youngsters who went out on loan, doesn't this guy throw a wrench in some people's arguments in here?

Eh, it's an example of a Castilla player making it into the Madrid first team, who cares what the journey was? And you seriously think shipping him off to Bundesliga wasn't part of his development plan to get more serious action and hopefully develop as a player worthy of Madrid's first team?

And Viva, we had a buy back clause. Pretty similar to a loan, it implies we want the player back at some point.

A buy back clause implies Madrid wasn't sure about his quality but also scared to let him go permanently. If they had confidence they would have given him a new contract at Madrid and loaned him to Leverkussen instead.

But you obv view development of talent in a way different to everyone else. If they're good enough they'll make it says it all.

Or Madrid was sure about his potential quality, but wanted him to get more first team playing time a league not as demanding as La Liga with the hope that their development plan for Carvajal would be proven right? There's a reason he was only sold for 5m and brought back a year later.

Essentially, we payed 1.5m for someone else to give him the first team action we couldn't give him at the time. Seems fair enough if it leads to a path back to Madrid.

when you're a massive club, you don't have time to develop fetuses, THIS IS THE LAND OF THE PROVEN! You're too busy winning stuff left and right, so you throw them to small clubs in Germany and Manchester and then get them back a year later

Please plug just use some common sense. There was no plan. You would think Carvajal would have gotten at least one first team appearance if they cared. They just slap those buy back clauses on all their youngsters that they sell just in case they fucked up.

And having players going out on loan to make them better is perfectly normal by the way. Buy back clauses are a different matter. Doesn't speak of much confidence in the player if a club is so eager to get rid of you.

From the top of my mind we had Blind and Vertonghen out on loan. Who ultimately became strong first squad players and got transfers to Spurs and United.
