Ultra Street Fighter 4 will be played on X360 at EVO2015

Busy with Uncharted Collection most likely/hopefully.

I know we've had some killer titles like Bloodborne but I really feel like Sony have rested on their laurels for the last couple years in knowing they have the lead. Really wish they'd have capitalised on their success rather than cooling off/partially sucking :/

They really haven't though. Most of this concern comes from UC4 getting delayed. If it didn't we wouldn't have this convo. They actually have a lot of content this year between first and 3rd party exclusives

Good on Evo.

Sony messed it up real bad. This port was 100% in their control. It was a simple port and they went with the cheap road instead of doing it right.

Talking on the larger consequences the entire SF exclusive deal was about winning over the fighting game fans and they have cocked that up completely for this year. Maybe SFV will turn it around but with this quality Sony Support I have doubts about that turning out well.

People wont buy into it as easy now and its a massive blow to the SF brand.

Capcom has to be pissed as well. They have Sony the freedom and clearly they cant be trusted with a simple port.

I really think some of you should follow the scene better, while this is a big blow for Sony, people will 100% buy SFV, especially the professional players. The pros have been extremely happy with Sony's involvement in the Capcom Pro Tour, this has been the best year for the SFIV's competitive scene and all thanks to the money they are giving at the Premier Events. We had some incredible tournaments because all the best players are traveling to win the prizes.

If you know how the FGC works, then you will know that the FGC will still buy SFV. Honestly, this isn't going to break the FGC apart with Capcom.

Yup, pretty crazy that no one seems to consider that factor. By declaring that USF4 was going to be the played on PS4 at Evo, Sony and Capcom put Other Ocean under a strict deadline condition. And absolutely no one among us know if that deadline was reasonable.

Unless they are owned by Sony (?) and its not their call, they consented to do the work. If they agree to take the work and be paid for it they darn well better know they can do a competent job in the time allotted. It's looking more and more like these port studios can't do that, and if so they need to stop taking on these projects.

Yep, players and stream monsters are going to do plenty of shit talking for now. But when SFV drops we'll all be there. Like what else are we going to do lol?

Other Ocean is definately not free of blame since they were the ones who developed the title. Regardless of external circumstances, they were the ones who consented to the commission of the product and are directly responsible for the condition it is launched in. All 3 sides do have blame in this situation.

The most important thing, is what are they going to do about it now.

Sony who is the publisher in this situation, is the one who needs to do the most damage control, even though they are not the only blamed party. Cause its their commissioned port, and their current gen exclusive money on the line, as well as their consumers directly affected by being cheapasses and going with Other Ocean

About this, while the 3 sides probably want to fix the game as soon as possible, I think this quick decision from the Evo will let them work more quietly, and we may avoid some things like a rushed patch that could only make the game worse ^^

Why play on PC when it's cheaper on 360? I'm a PC only gamer and know why they wouldn't make that move.

But yeah, PC is superior to the 360 version in every way if played on a halfway decent system. Even online is damn good now. But this tournament isn't played online. So bringing that up is null and void anyways.

The blame lies with all 3

Sony for cheaping out with the developer.

Other Ocean for sucking ass at developing

Capcom for not taking more care and interest with their baby.

QLOC... they've always done a fantastic job. I don't know why they decided not to go with them this time. Maybe they don't like dealing with Polish people anymore.

Thats not what I mean.

The pro tournament player is a platform agnostic group by nature. They go where the money is on the line. I am not talking about those few people.

There are a lot more fighting game fans outside of that bubble though. The large mass of people that actually buy millions of copies of things.

Thats what I always saw this SF deal was about winning over. It would have a domino effect on every other fighting game for the rest of the generation. They have messed it up real bad so far.

Anyway Ill be curious to see if this version of the game is actually ever fully fixed or will be be abandoned after 2 patches and SFV trailers start rolling more frequently.

But the PS4 is already the standard version for ALL the anime games and then with MKX and then with SFV and most likely Tekken 7. Sony already has a stranglehold on the FGC. SFV just puts them over the edge.

*Sighs* The PS4 version should've never been released at the state it's currently in. If it had to be delayed for 2 months to work the kinks out, then so be it.

Doubt it. SFV is still being promoted by Sony/Capcom.

Sony was in charge of the port. They gave it to Other Ocean to handle and here we are.

The developer of the game is a studio chosen by Sony, Capcom if it has any fault at all is the one to have the least of it.

Thanks for the clarification! Sony clearly dropped the ball on this. Has Capcom commented on this yet, they surely must be upset as Sony has ruined one of their most popular IP.

You know that the large mass of casual players don't even notice things like lag right? I mean just check the PS4 version thread, there are plenty of people who said the game is fine for them since they don't play it competitively. It's the same reason why MKX sold so well on Steam despite being a shitty port (way worse thant this SFV PS4 port).

The large mass of casual players are even easier to win. It's like the Halo situation, hardcore fans are disappointed after the MCC disaster, casual fans will still buy Halo 5 in droves because it's the next big thing.

For people talking about logistics for setting up USF4 on PC, keep in mind it'd also be a nightmare on PS4 with the way the driver works, if you aren't familiar with it.

For two players:
– Power up the PS4.
– Use a PS4 controller to sign into an account or the guest account.
– Load up USFIV.
– Once the game has loaded, player 1 should unplug the PS4 controller, yet ensure that it remains synched and plug in a PS3 stick of choice into one of the vacant USB slots. It should now function.
– Player 1 should head to versus mode.
– Once at the selection screen, Player 2 will then have to sign into another account or a guest account.
– Once signed in, Player 2 should then press the “option” button to join versus mode.
– Player 2 should now be able to move around the selection screen.
– Once this is completed, player 2 should unplug in the PS4 controller, yet ensure that it remains synched and plug in a PS3 stick of choice into one of the vacant USB slots. The stick should now function.
– Please note that:
the PS4 controllers will also control the characters even though the PS3 sticks are plugged in.
the PS4 controllers used to sign in must remain synched to the PS4. If either loses power or connectivity, the corresponding joystick will become deactivated.

I honestly don't see how this is a problem for Sony. How many casual SF fans are going "oh shit" about this? Guaranteed anybody outside of gaming forums won't care what they're playing on at Evo, let alone even know what Evo is.

Yeah, fuck that. PC would be the next viable choice. But no one has a PC to play on.

Lol, good job Sony/Other Ocean
I blame Capcom more than any of the other parties, SF is not a SONY franchise, it's a Capcom IP, they should have ensured things were going smooth. I blame Sony Third Parties group for cheapening up and choosing Other Ocean, but frankly Capcom should have advised them against it since it's their franchise. Yes, Sony is putting in the money and making the scene bigger, but it's still Capcom's IP at the end of the day, they should be the constant echo of quality in Sony's ear. (Noooooo, not Other Ocean interative...).

On the flips-side, I'm sure the bigger ups were only focusing on SF5 and said to themselves, USF4 is a 7 year old game that's been ported so many times, doesn't need our attention our third party boss can handle that in his sleep. Man...Gio Corsi had one job, just port this old game to the PS4, It's really embarrassing for all parties, but Gio should be feeling really rotten right now. I truly hope this turns around for him and every party involved though, maybe they can all have a laugh at it later (if all goes well with the incoming patch).

As for USF4 being played on the 360, does that mean Evo is no longer a Capcom pro tour event? It's Sony's money after all.

News to me considering Combo Breaker just wrapped up and was running on PS3s.

As will CEO and EVO.

Sony was in charge of the port, and hired Other Ocean to port the game. The game is substandard to the requirements needed to play it at a tournament. It's akin to blaming Marvel for how bad the new Fantastic Four movie will be because Fox produced the Fantastic Four reboot.

As will CEO.

Wasn't combo breaker using PS4 for MKX seeing as the PS3 version of that game isn't released. Also I meant going forward. Anime games going forward will no doubt be PS4 and I'm sure T7 will be.

I hope Sony learn from this and not let Capcom use cheap developers to port games in their name. Capcom would probably continue to use low money for their ports anyway.

MKX is irrelevant, considering I bolded what I was commenting on (and yes, it's only because of next gen consoles). EVO did not pull the trigger this year for Xrd, meaning some other major is going to have to do so if there's going to be a switch within the following year. Not that there's anything really forcing majors to do so, unless ArcSys declares Revelator as PS4 only.

Combo Breaker consoles was supplied by Gaming Generations which will also supply EVO.

Correct.

That port was like missing an open field goal from the 20-yard line: fucking embarrassing. They deserve the criticism along with the PS4 version of the game skipping out on Evo.

No anime games have moved to ps4. The only game at tourneys on ps4 is mkx and doa5lr.

Or get it for PC. Cross-platform play is a godsend, plus PC benefits from the mod community.

Hell, it's the mod community that's the reason a PC version is coming in the first place.

How do you figure this? Why would the mod community have anything to do with sf5 coming to PC?

All parties are to blame frankly, just that it's Capcom's franchise that's being muddied here. Not that Capcom cares however most of it's recent ports have had major issues at launch anyway. Everybody is cheapening up and it needs to stop.

Yea, when I read that the first time I just shook my head.

How about plug and play.
