So have people been getting better performance by verifying cache (and thus redownloading the whole game because it finds > 4000 missing/corrupt files), or is this a waste of time?

It depend son the fluctuation. In this game, it's terribad, but I'll take 50-60 over 30 FPS any day of the week (especially since I cna always lock at 50 if it varies a lot - thouhg most games don't.

This game doesn't crash for me (except when you exit), but increasing the page file did absolutely nothing on my end.

Update: Rocksteady has issued a statement regarding the issues, saying it's working to get them resolved while highlighting it was another studio that did the PC port of the game.

"We're aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight," it reads. "This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously. We are working closely with our external PC development partner to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as possible. We'll update this thread when we've got more info to share."

Anyone who has tested frame-pacing thoroughly? I think I will play the game in 4k dsr to 1080p and other settings maxed. The results seem quite good with the default 30 fps limit, running in borderless windowed mode. Should I disable the default frame limiter with the ini-fix and use Rivatuner instead? (to clarify, I am happy with the 30 fps limit, just wondering what is the best way to enforce it)

You're actually arguing why the game should run at 30fps on enthusiast level hardware? While amusingly acknowledging that the game has performance issues. Ok.

Not much else to say on the topic then. We'll just go in circles for three pages and its not worth the time. Like I said, I respectfully disagree with you and I'll leave it there.

I'm getting average 32 fps at normal settings. Would ps4 look or run bettrr? I'm just under 2 hours so can still refund and get ps4 version

Edit: I'm saying the guy who went with the preload/final version conjecture was right, this explains why its redownloading.

Also, I bet my ass steam is the one who verifies integrity of files, not developper, so that means there's nothing wrong with the game in that respect and it's steam who's saying files are different.

You download ~16 times faster than me, so thanks for testing this! And - you don't need to do this - but I'd be curious if it validates correctly after you finish that download. Would clear up a lot of stuff, I feel.

Does anyone know if there's a version number in the game anywhere? It'd make distinguishing the potential versions much simpler.

I played with vsync off, borderless window and in-game limit, the pacing seemed absolutely fine to me, but you should still keep an eye out for someone more experienced to bring you facts instead of what it seemed to be.

Okay, here's the (short) video I recorded showing performance locked at 30fps on my system. I mentioned before, but I think the odd performance dips are from the recording. Either because I was recording to a 5400rpm storage drive, or its just because of my aging processor.

I played for a good 10 minutes before restarting the computer to start the recording, and for those 10 minutes it never dropped below 30fps when I wasn't recording.

System Stats:
Windows 10 x64 Preview Build 10130
i7 920 @ 4.1ghz HT OFF
12GB Ram
GTX 970 SSC

It's installed on my 5yo Intel X25-M 80GB SSD.

The stutter was much worse prior to me unlocking the FPS in the INI then locking to 30 using nvidia inspector. Without it locked the FPS fluctuates wildly between 35 and 60.

Right now is @ 45%, steam says done in 10 min.

The Steam build ids, which publishers have zero control over, of the pre-load data and the post-verification data are one and the same (668138), if the game had ~4700 corrupt files -- included among them the main executable -- it wouldn't work at all, and the verification process "completes" instantly and empties the installation folder (i.e. the files are deleted, not cross-checked), so I'm firmly in the "Placebo effect" camp on this one.

who wouldn't get frustrated? i mean you have titan x sli, i have a 980ti, the game should not perform the way it does specially by the way it looks, im not saying it looks bad but it sure does not look amazong to cripple our cards the way is doing it, it is a shame because is a great franchise, lots of people took the day off to enjoy the game and that joy has turned to frustration, and if we are honest there's no excuse, the game was delayed multiple times, imagine if the game released on the original date, it would have been a bigger mess

ok so while they sort out the shitfest that is the PC version, i have now tried the PS4 version and as many others have it does look gorgeous - in many ways as good as and better than the PC. better rain for sure and solid solid smooth 30 fps. consider me Sonys bitch for now.

once you start playing its controls really well. this will do me fine till the PC is patched.

I've come to the part in the main story where (approx. 25-30%)
Gordon is getting chased and I need to protect him with the Batmobile
. It's literally impossible with all these frame-drops and it even drops to single digits very, very often. I'm done. Fuck this. I've tried all the different suggestions I found in this thread and nothing works. The stuttering is unbearable and downright unplayable for me. If I could refund this I would, but unfortunately I redeemed a GTX 970 voucher I bought cheap from a friend.

It's very, very sad how my most anticipated and hyped game of the year very quickly turned to a clusterfuck of multiple forms of solid, liquid and gassy shit. If only I had a PS4 right now.

UE3.5 has nothing to do with being able to run the game faster. The more tech you add to any graphics engine, the more demanding the hardware.

I already disagree with you but I partcularly disagree with your last two statements in bold.

Unreal Engine 3 has a lot to do with the graphic performance issues we are seeing. The ridiculous texture streaming issues are inherent to UE3. You can add more modern effects to UE3 but you can't tell me with a straight face that it will handle modern effects better than UE4 or CryEngine will. The two latter engines are much more efficient at handling modern effects and beat UE3 in efficiency.

Well, I was super hyped to play this today, but I guess I'm waiting. I went to bed thinking that some kind of Day-One patch just needed to be deployed, but, lo, there is no patch.

I'm not saying corrupted, im saying where the md5 (hash) doesn't match.

Now about the steam id package, I don't know wether you can republish with the same packet id or not (it wouldnt make sense) and if that's the case probably redownloading won't do a thing, sadly.

Worth a try tho, I can't play it with this stutter anyways :/

1080p, V-sync and AA on. Normal textures, high shadows, high detail. Paper Debris and Enhanced Rain turned on. Getting solid 30fps.

Don't know what all the fuss is about.
