I think that some people is overestimating the relevance of Akuma in the story, it's simply a guest character with some background just to blend him better with the other characters, he was hired to kill Hehiachi, he failed, boom you will never see him again.

Leo's voice sounded weirdly electronic when she said that word.

I've already spent almost what it is exchange rate wise $800 US playing vanilla Tekken 7 in the arcades here, I'd say the franchise is fine.

Yep, hardcore fans subsidize the casual base. It's always been this way, Tekken and other fighters do just fine.

Tekken sells alot. It is the best selling fighting game franchise.

Tekken 6 for example sold more than vanilla SF4. After every console release they move on to the next Tekken game instead of re-releasing a new version of the same game with new updates/characters.

They also make alot of money. They already make a profit with the arcade release and with porting to console they make even more profit. That business decision (arcade first, year later console release) is usually something that pisses of Tekken fans but for Namco its ridiculous $$.

TTT2 sold like shit on consoles.

And the arcade first business is a relic of the past. It makes sense for Asia but not for the other regions. The wait killed Tekken 6, Namco shipped millions and a lot of stock collected dust. I was gutted to see the Hoodie edition I bought a week before launch for 89, to be offered for 29. Just 3 or 4 weeks later. Tekken 6 mainly sold well from the bargain bin.

SFV dropped arcades and its coming along nicely, being tested via betas. Looks to become a balanced game and a huge success. They could always release an arcade version for Asia afterwards.

I can see an upside to TxSF being cancelled and being thrown into T7. This way they won't cannibalise sales of both IPs if they were supposed to launch close to eachother and they can start focusing on the next non-Mishima Tekken. It might actually help with getting more people into Tekken too. Still a shame though.

Does that stop Gundam from being ridiculously popular and arguably the most popular game in game centers period?

It makes them so much money either way and the competitive scene does not die because of it. Game centers lobby for these games to delay a console release because of the revenue they make.

Location tests are extremely useful data that are still in use. The betas you play for SFV are older builds that things have already changed since then. SFV's data mostly came from the location tests it provided and community feedback from that.

Tekken just had a major tournament with almost 1000 participants from almost only Japan with a handful of international players.

Tekken is alive and well.

I don't understand.

are you a new player?

Don't ask how much is spent playing gundam...

No SxT? Me sad :(

Oh well, now rooting for Claw to appear someday in T7.

I think this should give more hope for TxSF.

It's not uncommon for the Tekken team to test stuff. Tekken Revolution, which has 5 million downloads, was pretty much a test game for Tekken 7 where they tried out different mechanics/systems.

In Tekken 7, the Ultra moves (Rage Arts) seems like Namco's first effort of trying to get a mixture of Tekken style fighting with supers/ultra's.

Dem graphics.

The "story" that's they're trying to push seems to be all kinds of awful, though. This Mishima drama is just odd.

Did you rike it?

Yes a lot. Bannam is still one of my favorite company. are you still giving away those Tekken shirts and the Tekken Joshibu gear?

I was able to get the Devil Asuka but I was unable to get the Lili and Eliza one (꒦ິ⌑꒦ີ)

Tales from my ass...

Are you one of those "Street Fighter IV saved fighting games" type of people?

I hate SFIV. Never enjoyed its mechanics, and art direction looks like shit. So no. Matter of fact, SFIV almost managed to kill it again with its retail update antics (along with MvC3 fraud).

I am one of those people that can't play Tekken in arcades anymore unless he travels thousands of miles. Don't try to put me in some sort of camp, I hate that shit.

What is there not to understand? The game is a lot of fun and it deserves its success.

I don't up get what the last part is supposed to fucking mean.

Korea too, last I checked Tekken is even more esports in South Korea than it is in Japan.

Also South Korean arcades have the game at like what amounts to 30 cents per play USD, one regular play in Japan is ¥100.

That doesn't even include Tekken-net subscription and any of the other promotions they do for themed limited run items.

The game is also in other countries too like the Philippines, and apparently Australia according to Tekken-net's international side.

Also the biggest market for Tekken is Europe. I remember Harada saying that 24 of the 44 million Tekken sales are from EU.

I want to be excited but this probably means a 2017 release and I should just forget about it until then.

I'm sure it will be 2016.

Historically, the Tekken games have released on console a year after the arcade, the only exception being Tekken 6 (which came 2 years after).

Technically the wait between bloodline and consoles was 1 year. Vanilla T6 wasn't good enough.

2016 is possible. TTT Unlimited and console port were released within the same year afaik.

Love this announcement - my interest in Tekken has been reignited (though I don't suppose it ever died as I've bought all the mainline games).
