Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

The Hulk Hogan sex tape got better reviews than this and is going to end up making more money. Well there is always Lego batman. How does this happen. DC animated movies are amazing.

Sounds like BS, but I'd be ok with that.

like i said before, if this thing has a bad second week don't be surprised to hear some rumblings from WB

remember, Disney shook up Marvel Studios after Ultron and that movie didn't even shit the bed, it was relatively well received both critically and commercially.

Found this:

  • "WB execs are shitting their pants. If [Batman V Superman] makes less than a billion, [Zack] Snyder is out and Justice League will be delayed 8 months."

  • "Chris Nolan is being courted as a producer and George Miller, David Yates, Louis Letterier, and Vincenzo Natali are all being courted to take over Justice League."

  • "Wonder Woman is undergoing major rewrites to be more of a standalone film. Aquaman, Cyborg, and Green Lantern Corps. are all on the chopping block."

  • "Investors are planning a major takeover if [Batman V Superman] flops and have plans to install a board that will order the universe to be rebooted."

anyone heard of this site?

If the universe is rebooted, we may actually get CW's Flash on the big screen. There could be a chance!

do you have some source that correlates a shake up at marvel with ultron performance? from what I remember Whedon was just over it and wanted out

Whoa, let's not go overboard here and say something that we can't take back!
PROVE ME WRONG!

At this point, anything that isn't already filmed/getting ready to be filmed is going to need to be seriously rethought, if not outright cancelled.

Not sure if that R-rated cut would have saved this movie by fleshing out character choices, or if this whole thing really is just unsalvageable, but they're going into Justice League with their two biggest names looking like shit.

I'm genuinely saddened that this is the reaction. I mean it's funny to a point, but simultaneously I'm disappointed that the DC Universe simply fumbles again on-screen like this.

Gonna call bullshit since Wonder Woman is already filming.

Charles Roven said at the premiere they still had a little bit left to shoot, mostly studio stuff.

It is possible, albiet unlikely, that it could go into re-shoots or just have most of the cinematic universe stuff excised in the editing room.

There's honestly nothing on that site whatsoever to indicate its creator has any highly placed sources anywhere. It looks like this is the first big rumor they've ever run.

Too grim dark.
Marvel audiences would not get him.

Anything that isn't in production right now is in jeopardy.

Yes, even the JLA film.

We'll know more in a couple days.
I say t next weekend is when will know the final tally. If it stays making money little changes, if ticket sells drop off a cliff. Wigs are going to get split

More time for Zootopia :)

It's a shame not even Doomsday could save this film. I might go see it if my friend is up for it, but I was looking forward to Suicide Squad more than this.

Doomsday was one of the worst things of the movie. Weta Digital's copy-paste plastic orc. Looks horrible: unliving, nonexistent.

because that costs money and I don't spend money on trash.

If it looks and sounds like a duck, it's probably a duck.

Yeah I live in Japan where movies are overpriced as fuck and released incredibly late almost every time.

BvS is one of the rare cases where it comes out here early so I was on the fence. However, after some of these impressions I am probably gonna sit this one out until it hits a streaming site I use.

This is like the Too Human of movies. They had the fucking hubris to lay out their slate before getting even one successful entry out the door.

Oh god, does that mean Snyder's going to try to sell us on thinly-veiled remakes
of a remake
of Dawn of the Dead?

Reboot it after two movies?

I doubt it.

So roughly 5700 posts of people discussing or reacting to critics opinions as if movies can be objectively quantified so easily by non-experienced individuals whose primary CV requisite is 'watched lots of movies'.

Instead of arbitrarily allowing these 'reviews' to cloud and influence your own opinions so much that cognitive dissonance would occur should the opposite be true, how about maybe y'all just watch it for yourselves with an open mind and decide then?

"And in one fell swoop, people of the world awoke to the truth about critics/reviewers, and the 'profession' vanished overnight. Movies, music, food, gadgets, automobiles, etc. Humanity discovered the joy of forming their own opinions about such things, by personally trying each and every thing until they found one they truly liked."

Or not.

If this mess causes them to cancel the Afleck Batman movie I am gonna be real bummed.

I dont give 2 fucks about the rest of the DCCU but that seems like a real great combo.

I think an Afleck Batman solo film is safe, hell if anything it will be fast tracked because of this

Paper or plastic?

As they should. This whole debacle is a case study on how not to establish a cinematic universe. The fanboy in me is kind of livid that WB managed to screw up the first movie starring two of the biggest superheroes of all time...for the first time. With all of the criticism levied against MoS and their previous failures (GL, JH, SR), it's as if they've learned nothing.

I'm legit bummed out that they botched this. At the same time, I'm utterly fascinated at how they managed to.

Lol, so much hyperbole in this thread.

It's making $130million this weekend. It's not going to flop. The bubble isn't going to burst. This is not the end.

The Internet-comic-nerd community is so small in the grand scheme of things. It's Batman, Superman, and stuff getting destroyed. Despite Snyder's best effort, it won't flop.

The reason why marvel movies are better than DC movies is because marvel have better directors. Zac Snyder is a bad director imo. I don't know why he keeps getting work.

no one's questioning the opening weekend. $130mil would be a low for a movie like this.

what matters at this point is the 2nd weekend drop off

I'm still gonna see it in theaters but if it fails I feel Snyder has to go. Bring in a great director and let Snyder possibly handle visuals, he's good at that at least.
