Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

Over the last few days I've watched every Superman movie for the very first time. I just finished Man of Steel. Absolutely terrible, and perhaps the worst super hero movie I've ever seen... and I just watched Superman III! And Supergirl! A friend was offering to pay for my BvS ticket... between MoS and the reviews it's getting... I'm now going to pass on that.

I thought the OT would kill this thread but we're still trucking along.

I don't see this budging more than a % or 2 at this point. Will likely settle between 33-35.

So in 5 years when people ask how it is, you can say "Somewhere between Paul Blart and Space Chimps"

IDK, man. I have a feeling that this'll sink into the high 20s before this is all over...

Watchmen was 66%

This has to be straight garbage

How does that number guarantee it's better or worse?

It's more of an increased likelihood of being bad rather than being set in stone.

Aside from the funny memes this is just a sheep thread. Surely you like a number of movies rated lower than other films on RT right?

Betty

Banned

I bet Warner Bros does :D

All I care about is that this doesn't hurt the goodwill Nolan built up with Batman, I just hope that Affleck doesn't feel apathetic about future DC projects.

I can't believe it's got even lower, this is amazing.

QUICK! EVERYONE POST YOUR FAVORITE BATMOBILE

I love that they made the Batmobile into a tank and he only used to when he was in need of a fucking tank.

The idea of a Batmobile is super dumb and campy. Batman doesn't need a car to take him places that has James Bond gadgets in it. That's silly as shit.

Superman fighting himself is still the best onscreen Superman fight.

I'm sure this review was already posted, but my god it's so goddamn incredible. Exceptional writing. I yearn for this kind of work in the video game space. Kill Screen tries to do similar stuff, sometimes well too, but this is lovely.

This guys a pretty dope reviewer no doubt.

Edit: he's great actually. Holy shit. It's nice to find a reviewer with a good handle on pop movies AND dramas

It might sound superficial and petty but an on screen Superman will never really be Superman to me without the John Williams theme to accompany him.

Superman III is totally underrated imo haha

And omg Supergirl is a guilty pleasure of mine. Billie Jean fighting a wizard version of Mommie Dearest? Yes, please.

The thing about MoS is that it hurts, it makes you hate the character you're supposed to root for

MoS Superman has no heart, he's apathetic to everything around him, we see no reaction of him at the end realizing that Metropolis is in ruins, he never tries to save civilians at all, in fact the only people saving civilians in the movie are civilians

And what it hurts the most is that we've actually seen a great Superman on movies recently, only without his powers, we've seen him in the MCU and his name is Steve Rogers

Cap has a heart in Marvel movies, he's the one the audience is rooting for, he's the boy scout, the one that can inspire people to do their best, the one that will try to save everyone even if he can't and this is what's lacking in MoS

The moment he let Pa Kent die is the moment MoS lost the audience, now he's no longer the character the audience roots for since you've striped the heart out of the character and audience can no longer root for him

Even in the worst superhero movies this doesn't happen, even in the worst of the worst, you can still somewhat root for them, you want the character to win because come on, he's the hero and you still feel he's the hero, MoS doesn't understand what a hero is, loses the audiences in the way and they can't root for him and it never tries to recover from this which is why I can totally understand why you would put Superman III or Batman and Robin above this

I don't need a GT-R in my everyday life either but
if I wasn't poor as fuck
I would roll up to my son's daycare in one. lol

This thread is all over the place. I never thought the RT watch for this movie would spin into a conversation that makes me consider re-watching Ang Lee's Hulk.

You've finally helped me understand much better precisely why I do not like Man of Steel. Seriously. Thank you.

Zombie Strippers is seriously an awesome movie! Those narrow-minded critics have it all wrong...lol

I was expecting scores for Batman vs Superman to average out around 60%, not 34%..lol. Still interesting in seeing it, but I'll try to keep my expectations low based on those reviews.

Looking forward to seeing the Batmobile back in action.
