It's up to you. They stack.

I know a lot of people are asking for upgrades to be separated from inventory, but basically it's a balance of how much cargo space you want versus your tech.

I imagine on my PS4 fighter I would eventually have a lot of slots but not actually be using any of them for cargo, so that it could be as strong as possible. That's assuming materials collected in space will go into your exosuit inventory, I thiiiink they will but I'm planetbound at the moment.

They don't. It will say that the ship inventory is full and then nothing can be collected while in space.

How do you go about finding the scanners than can then locate drop pods? I'm guessing you just have to get lucky that you come across one while flying along the surface of a planet and scanning the area?

Look for a red beam going into the sky but I find the pods are easier to spot :)

He means if you put em next to each other you get bonuses.

Any tips for finding every species on a planet. I need the money for a not shitty ship lol.

There's generally four areas you need to check:

- Air
- Surface
- Underwater
- Underground

Generally I've only ever found 1 flying species per planet (not including surface species that technically float, like the small butterfly types), but I've seen some planets have multiple species that only live underground. Same for planets with water (or whatever the hell liquid is on that planet), some will have quite a few aquatic species.

You can attach the range boost upgrade to your analyzer, which seems to allow it to show the dots indicating a lifeform while the analyzer is active much further out, including through solid rock, so boosting the range helps. You can just kind of move location and survey around from your landing position to see if there are any red-center dots moving around.

I just fly around really close to the surface. during night the blue interior light is pretty easy to spot.

just scanning the area, it never really marked it with a question mark. the scanning is weird anyway...

Well, some stuttering, but it's smoothed out some as I've played. Haven't lifted off yet.

Did spawn not far from a large 4 pad station, with what looks like an airport terminal, complete with rows of seats. Will upload pictures shortly

I have made a game out of harvesting all these Gravitino Balls from the planet I'm on, while avoiding the Sentinals in the meantime. I'm loving this.

For the life of me I cannot find any way to highlight the systems I've discovered on the star map. The "Press tab to scan for discoveries" doesn't seem to work. This sucks big time.

Damn, that sucks. I can just use a few slots and transfer to my suit inventory after encounters though.

I dunno the controls on PC, it would be right on D-pad after you scan...

Guys I'm still fucked out of a hyper drive. Traded in my preorder ship for a ship that didn't have a drive. I just figured I would use a blueprint, but I don't have a blueprint for a drive.

Now I'm stuck in my solar system. None of the ships I've found (crashed or docked) have hyper drives. I've tried resetting my PS4. The only think I haven't tried is crafing and placing a hyper drive upgrade into my ship's grid, but without the hyper drive that's unlikely to do anything.

So I'm stuck. Has anybody gotten out of this situation, or does anybody know anyone online who has? Can't leave my star system.
Well if you're still in your home system you didn't really miss anything - go to your settings in PS4 dash and delete your saves for that game - rinse and re-try.

I've installed some major upgrades on my Exosuit to the point where I can freely roam around a map and not miss my ship at all. Landed on an Extreme planet and took all the Sentinels' lunch money on the planet, then I installed some upgrades on my new ship and took out waves of Sentinel starships too. Space police ain't shit. I love this game.

I've found it a lot faster when I worked out how to use me visor properly to locate animals. Whilst holding L2, all animals have a coloured do to indicate their scanned status. Green means they've been scanned already and a red dot is undiscovered.

The most useful aspect of this feature is to show the location of creatures in the distance. This will be a small, pulsing white dot at first, and when you get closer it turns to red or green. It's generally easiest to see the white ones while you're facing a hill or a cliff, because it can often be difficult to see amongst the scenery.

Also, if you're not finding any new species, then hop into you ship and fly around the planet for a bit. That often gets new ones to spawn for me.

Dumb question maybe.... But the planets are round so if I landed my ship and walked a straight line around the whole planet.... Would I return to my ship?

Well just deleted my save after over 19 hours because this stupid hyperdrive problem. Despite Hello Games saying a quest will appear when it sees that you don't have a hyperdrive, it never did in 4 hours of tediously going from planet to planet doing random missions hoping it would trigger And restarting everything several times.

On the fence of just selling it and forgetting about it rather than starting all over.

Have you tried going back to where you bought the ship and hopping back inside your old one? That's what I would do. My friend said your old ship stays there should you need it back. If he's right then you're good to go.

Actually, there are 7 landing pads on this thing

Planet is a red mess though, like Mustafar minus the lava

Question GAF. Since I screwed up at the end of the Atlas
path, and didn't have enough to of the Atlas Stones, can I just sell the ones I have? Do I need them at the center of the galaxy for whatever reason? Also, can I still get more at this point, and if so, how?

Far far away from my home system at this point.

As an aside, I got a beacon for an abandoned building. It's underwater. And doesn't appear to have doors. No way I'm getting in there right?

I can't remember where I got this ship. But I've swapped it out again. At this point I think I'm just gonna play around in this star system and hope a patch fixes it.

Thanks lads, will keep an eye out.

On another note, has anyone else had their custom planet names reset to their original? I'm hoping it's just a server issue....

Are there animals in the caves that can be discovered? I'm missing 1 animal record on this really easy going planet.
I explore a lot, but I learned to let some planets go. The first one I wanted to 100% I had to give up on after literally 4 hours looking high and low for that last species. I left and got 100% on another planet in around 30 mins. It's annoying, but some planets seem to have super rare animals, and these are literally planet sized planets so... Yeah.

No. You would have needed them for the end of the Path. You may as well sell them now.

Also: MAJOR SPOILER FOR END OF ATLAS PATH.

I think it's cool that the 10 Atlas Stones you give Atlas birth a star that another player will spawn on at the start of their game. Really cool touch.

Was in the same situation last night. Resetted my PS4 and flew out to the space station, once there one of the ships sold anti-matter.

Has anyone come across any interesting AI interactions? Seems like every animal AI behaves the same with a slider for how aggressive they are unfortunately.

There also doesn't seem to be any life cycle or ecology to them; ie cant see a predator species hunting/sleeping/mating or whatever, everything just walks around.

Recommendation due to crashes...everytime you enter your ship, hop out again and hop back in. That will produce a new save spot with your latest endeavors. My crashes have almost exclusively been in space or hyperspace which was reverting me back to the last time I EXITED my ship which was sometimes a lot of lost data from the previous time I had exited my ship. The game should save each time you enter your ship instead or both, but it doesn't.

That planet I was on was just intense.
Incredibly cold with constant storms. Even with upgrades the meter drained like crazy. The Sentinels were set on "frenzy". Unfortunately I got omplacent and didn't bring any plutonium and had no fuel left. And for the first time ever plutonium was hard to find considering I had always sentinels looking for me.
So I turned to a strategy I had to use before and dug myself some caves to rest and let the suit recharge constantly loking for some bloody plutonium.
Can't say how relieved I was when I found some near an outpost.

btw. Anyoe have some backtory bits on the three races? Or at least some theories. I think I go the Gek's kind of figured out, same for the warrior race. But I'm especially interested in the role the sentinels play.

Its always nice to stumble on a planet like this after seeing so many hostile planets.

And it just so happens to have a ton of Chrysonite. Yiss.

So does the survival system really boil down to watching a meter slowly deplete and then after a couple minutes you feed your suit with carbon?

Like if you're designing a game with survival elements, and you're name dropping The Long Dark, shouldn't danger be a very important factor?

I mean, without danger, survival mechanics basically end up becoming nothing but a nuisance.

Do ship designs vary by system? I have 5mil to spend on a new one but all the ships turning up at this station are insanely repetitive. Don't like the look of any of them =(

Wait so I'm doing the atlas path. I should keep them right?

And I'm a bit confused by what you are saying in your spoiler, can you reword it for me please

The game is very light on survival and challenge for me so far.

I've been to planets where those meters deplete in seconds. Run out of the ship, discover zone, high-tail it back before getting to 0.

Yes, they vary by system, but good luck finding one that looks nice. They all look kinda lame imo.

I couldn't imagine restarting as I'm struggling for a reason to keep playing after 20 hours. With what little gameplay there is being incredibly paper-thin and monotonous those 20 hours weren't exactly a great gaming experience either but instead a "there must be more to this" type of thing after spending $60 on it. The visuals are amazingly lackluster (I guess this is getting a pass because of the supposed impressive procedurally generated tech) as well and the game offers very little in the way of a narrative/story. As I thought early on it will be interesting to hear a lot of folks opinions after a week's worth of play. I can't imagine the rinse and repeat nature of the "gameplay"/exploration and boring repeated visuals keeping them hooked.

As I said earlier I finished the Path as well:

I didn't really get it. I unfortunately didn't learn enough Atlas words so it was all gibberish on the left side, while the text reminded me over and over again of the futility of my journey. Did I miss something obvious?

so is there anyway you can make your ship fly down low

or remap the ship controls so I don't have to steer with the mouse (wtf?)

Yes keep them.
At the end of the Atlas Path. If you have your 10 stones still saved up you have a choice to create a star system. If you chose to create the star system the game tells you it has just been born on the edge of the galaxy and another player will spawn their at the start of their adventure.
