You can set a waypoint by hitting L2 to "scan" a point of interest such as a building.

Demostrating this, I found this building and held L2:

See the white dot on my compass next to my ship icon.

It does persist at least out into space, don't know beyond that. You can have more than one at a time (at least three), but they look the same.

To clear a waypoint, physically go to it and scan (with L3). They're not that obtrusive though (just a while dot).

You will get shit on but I agree completely, thank god for steam refunds.

There is hardly anything to do in this game and what little there is to do is not fun. It is literally fill up depleting slots in your inventory the game. Exploration does not feel fun at all either because all the planets are samey and there is nothing there to do except collect materials and talk to some terrible AI vendors.

Also the way the ship controls on PC with kb/m has got to be the worst vehicle control I have ever seen in my 25+ years of gaming.
If you were writing about Elite Dangerous I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Basically, Space games ain't your jam.

On PS4, the game has crashed about eight times for me in the past hour.

I've never played a game on PS4 with performance this bad except for maybe Broforce.

The upgrade we were talking about earlier does remove bigger chunks from terrain resources. I started mining gold and realized how HUGE the mining beam AoE was.
i want a good multitool :'(

I can't believe I'm going to Boston for the weekend in like 10 hours. This is madness.

The fuck with these crashes already. Fount a good spot harvesting these red cube things and killing robots near a trade station, fill up my entire inventory and crashes on way back to trade platform, did it again and another fucking crash! Hour + down the fucking tubes.. This game should auto save every 10-15 mins or some shit.

Just started playing on PC, am I missing something? I'm 5 hours and 3 warps in and still don't have an atlas pass v1. Also, anyone else having trouble with hostile ships? if there's more than 2 I just get wrecked. Maybe i'm just bad, heh.

Umm so yea always have Plutonium on you.

I am stuck on a planet with none so I have to trek out to find an outpost or something that has some. My Launch Thrusters are empty.
Luckily I got tons of Titanium and the Nuclear Shield to deal with the Rads.

I didn't get the Atlas Pass v1 until I finished the Atlas Path. Don't worry about it too much, you can easily get by without it.

Look out for space anomalies when entering a system. It looks like a space station but there is a purple indicator. There is where I got mine, seem to be randomly placed across the universe.

after you find an atlas station (when you go to warp it will tell you it fount a signal and redirect you). You will find an abnormally that looks like a space station, guy on it will give the recipe. Took me like 6-7warps at least

Nobody else having issues with their planet names reverting back? Kinda sucks...

I'm also having occasional issues where I try to 'Rename and Upload', and I never get prompted to actually enter a name. These issues are likely related.

Ah thanks, I literally just found the atlas station (it was fucking rad!).

Has anyone found a crashed ship with 20+ slots? Debating whether i go exploring or farm gold/emeril and just buy one.

Also wish they implement a element scanner. Select which element you need from a drop down menu and scan from your multi-tool or plane. Need nickel and can't find any and i've been to 3 different systems, stuff is rarer than gold!

Also i think while flying you ship scanner should pick up all the outposts nearby the same way your multitool can pickup all the different elements. Too many time i've scanned from my ship and it hasn't picked up the outpost i can see in the distance.

I played for around two hours. I ended up building a warp drive and also discovered blueprints for warp cells and antimatter. The game's framerate on PC went to a crawl after I left the first system using the warp drive. Hopefully it'll be fine when I boot the game back up again. It's really relaxing and I love the atmosphere of just exploring on my own. I did not bother letting Atlas guide me.

Any tips for finding drop pods, and for getting upgrades to the warp drive?

Craft Bypass keys and use them on the little white pods with the orange beams of light, select to search for "Shelters" and most of the time it will find a drop pod. Alternatively you could just fly around while scanning as much as possible and then checking every green ? that pops up.

I found a couple of those, guys I'll be using the bypass to find shelters for a while like that really helpful post earlier suggested.

How big can ship inventories get and for what prices? Need a funding goal if I'm saving!

Ship's can get pretty big, I think I've seen a 40 slot ship but there could be bigger ones.

Oh I didn't realize shelter would find a pod.

Guys how do you 'unset' waypoints? I have four white spots on my HUD I no longer want to / need to visit. Scanning the buildings again does nothing.

I wish we had more control over the HUD and could 'dismiss' certain icons. Sometimes it gets crazy buzy, and distracts from the one icon you want.

Also, I have NO idea how to space battle. Get my ass handed to me every damn time.

Sean promised another inventory increase in the next update so I'm hoping suits can hold 500-1000 per slot and ships can hold up to 2000. That would be nice because right now I'm sucking dick for inventory space and I've maxed out Exosuit slots. :(

And non-stackable items should be able to stack. I don't see why they can't tbh.

My advice for space battles is to upgrade your shielding (and connect them to your base shields if possible), and store a slot or two of Titanium at all times on ship to repair shields mid-battle. Also, highly recommend upgrading and using the phase beam for space combat rather than the photon cannon. The photon cannon might be good for assaulting the larger cargo ships that can't maneuver, but you need the lock on and instant-hit damage to fight the really fast pirate ships.

So, basically everywhere ;)

Haha, yeah in a sense, it just helps to organize species in your head that way. In case you are sort of stuck looking for that last one, you can kind of jump larger spaces in the ship and target certain areas. My general rule of thumb is that if I find even one underground species on a planet and am going for the upload there I'll run a decent amount of cave systems just to make sure there isn't a predator-prey relationship going on down there. Usually there is at least one predator species on any planet that has any underground fauna.

Boost dashing is a game-changer. Like, holy shit it's so fun to actually run around exploring now.
It's even better with Bumper Jumper controls than I could have ever dreamed. I'm so happy right now.

Scanning them not with your visor but with L3/scanner button?

Just landed on a planet absolutely covered in Sac Venom. Made 1million CU in about 10 minutes of work! Guess I'm gonna be here for a while.

Found this planet in my starting solar system.

Thought to myself: FUCK YES A TROPICAL PLANET!
Got so excited about it having sandy beaches, warm climate and clear oceans. Only when I land I find that there's no plants or animals, and it constantly drizzling acid rain.

Goddamn this game, I just want a relaxing looking planet to chill around in for a while instead of a hell scape.

I know that feeling, man. :(

Anyone have a link to that video I think I saw in this thread where someone had a space battle that ended by fighting in atmosphere? That was really really cool and now that I think about it I've never seen that in Elite Dangerous, though maybe I haven't played enough of that. That's the kinda shit that would make bounty hunting so badass if they tried to evade by going into a planet.

So I just started the game on PC. It won't let me craft the carite sheets I need. Is this a glitch or am I missing something really obvious? I have 250 units of Iron.
