i have a theory about this. I'm not sure but don't think you're doing anything wrong. Just keep heading there for now.

gorgeous. can't wait to be rid of this ship tho

Ok thanks! Hmm Im done with all the
story
so I was expecting to be going faster soon.

Black holes does not help much. Plus they break my ship stranding me longer in a system.

One thing's for sure, played this for 5hours last night.
This game definitely isn't for everyone.
I love this game, for very specific reasons.

*Speaks to my sense of curiosity: aka oh whats this? I wonder what's over there? I need to see this! What's in this cave!!?? How do I go there? What's up there!!!??

*Sense of isolation is amazing. You land on a planet and sometimes it's barren and you're just like completely... Alone.

*Farming, there's a sense of progression, you gotta work and sell and collect manage your inventory, don't get fucked by pirates when holding max loot.

But I can get why people don't like it. It is a lot of the same... All the time. Planet's don't seem to really be THAT different, so you have to like the exploring searching etc etc.
Inventory management makes the farming harder, but I can get that it's annoying AS FUCK. No story or really goal in front of you. Sorta you have to make your own fun.

Is there some way your landed ship can start somehow moving away from you on a planet? I just finished up the stuff I needed for my first warp, decided to run around and grab a couple close objectives, and now the marker for my ship is saying it's 1 hour away... 2 hours away... 3 hours away...

Wasted a bunch of time tonight looking for resources for warp drive to no avail before realizing the game wanted me to trade with someone on the space station

Did anyone ever figure out the fix for the unchargeable photon cannons? I'm in a new ship with that issue.

Why do these guys have to sell ships with empty tanks? Cheapskates.

The marker for my starship now says it's off planet. I have no idea what the hell is happening.

I'm assuming AI dudes don't just jack your ship if you leave it for too long.

Galactic Fork

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...
Here is something odd. Sometimes when taking off, my ship will just pop into orbit almost instantly. Is there a shortcut for orbital launch I'm accidentally triggerin.

It's weird, my photon cannons don't seem to need a charge. Are they supposed to? I've been blasting away with them and never ran out of ammo.

Man that sucks! Maybe you landed it on another ship by accident. Ok maybe not. At this point I'd scour for a landing pad or transmission unit to summon it back.

Keep Warping forward. Just got mine after passing the first anomaly
Atlas ship
. Once you warp, you will find another anomaly
(a circle ship, with Nada and Polo. Polo is the one that gives you the recipe for the AtlasPass)

Can confirm that this is exactly how I got my AtlasPass as well.

The only major issue I have with the game as it stands right now is the really bizarre approach to atmospheric flight. You have almost no control over it, it seems it was designed for someone that has never played a game before or as a thought that atmospheric flight shouldn't matter and that you should just land immediately and that it's and explore on foot from there on only.

Why can't I pitch further down after a certain altitude? I want to fly closer to the planet's surface, among canyons and through tunnels but you can't. Even when flying at the lowest altitude the game allows and there's a hill or something ahead of you it auto pitches for you.

It's a really odd decision they've made here since it's all about exploring planets but I have very little freedom of traversing/exploring the planet and taking in the sights from above with atmospheric flight.

Also I think it's quite odd that there can be a station by a planet when the planet is supposedly not discovered.

Many months ago I said that I will find having no gas giants and other forms of planets like ice ones disappointing because every planet I can expect to see the same, I want to arrive in a system and see variety, even ones I may not be able to land on, I would like to observe then from orbit. It just adds more to the universe and makes it more specialto find terra planets. It's the same reason why RPGs add junk/white items among the good ones, it would feel odd that all you found were decent to great items, removing that sense of surprise.

I'm enjoying the game nonetheless, it is what I expected, I've always enjoyed this sort of genre, I've put a lot of hours into the Elite series which NMS is quite similar too minus the procedural life on the planet itself (and Elite having more in-depth mechanics overall).

Whelp, played for like 10 hours straight. This is the survival game I've been waiting for.

Can confirm that this is exactly how I got my AtlasPass as well.

Is that after you meet
Nada and Polo for the first time, or does it happen again? Because I met them earlier on an anomaly, told them I wanted to keep on the path of atlas and I didn't get shit besides another waypoint.

So I asked earlier but the thread was moving so fast it probably got overlooked (or maybe we don't know the answer yet):

I know that grouping upgrades gives them a boost. Put Boltcaster Reload next to the Boltcaster and they group with the same color.

But is there a reason to keep the different versions active, or do you just replace them?

For example, Boltcaster Reload Simga might have a V1, 2, 3, 4, do they stack (meaning that if you have 1, 2, 3, and 4 you essentially have V10)? Or if you have V1, and get V3 should you just replace V1 with V3?

Same goes for the upgrade power. Is there a reason to keep Boltcaster Reload Sigma active if I have Boltcaster Reload Theta?

And completely unrelated, can your mining beam eventually be upgraded enough to blow apart the locked doors you find at some outposts? My current beam seems to do jack shit to them but my Boltcaster blows them apart fairly quickly.

decided to give this another go and enjoying it more. playing with a controller makes a huge difference. menus feel better and controlling the ship is easier.

the thing is i have no idea what i'm doing. i've fixed my ship and visited a few planets and a space station. only have about 60,000 credits. i don't know what i should keep or sell. also i think i remember the game telling me to build a hyperdrive but i don't know how i should go about that.

Also curious about everything you've asked, but for the outpost doors I use the plasma grenades. I don't even use the Boltcaster so I can save room for mining laser upgrades. There are upgrades that make the laser itself decent for killing sentinels.

The flying mechanics are pure garbage, there's no doubt of that.

I was looking forward to flying around at about 38,000 feet like a commercial airliner and just looking at the land / ocean formations but that's not really possible - you're either 'flying' around near the surface or you transition quickly into space. The atmospheric area is very, very slim.

The Railshot adapter makes the mining beam damage the doors, it seems to give it the boltcasters damage property.

Everything stacks. The more you put in, the higher you can drive the power ratings in the rings; or reload speed, or effects like jetpack boosting. But they occupy those inventory slots, so it's a tradeoff.

And no. Those locked doors are one of the few things that can't be damaged by the mining laser. Plasma grenades can do it though, if you've uninstalled your boltcaster.

It was the first time I met them, and I had to pass a check on one of the milestones when speaking to
Polo.
I think it was amount of aliens met. I had to
upload a bunch of animal data to his computer, if I recall correctly.
As a reward he gave me the AtlasPass diagram.

I hadn't passed the check yet when I did that.

Damn it.

As I'm exploring the one thing that bugs me is the lack of a map or something.

How on earth are you supposed to find outposts and things you already found? I remember one I went to had a nice upgrade but I didn't have the credits to afford it and I want to go back there but have 0 idea how to find it now.

This planet I'm on has such weird geometry, it's beautiful.

You can see two on the horizon, these things are dotting the whole surface, spaced apart a little, like a pincushion or something.

What a day of playing so far. Got a nice little new ship, decide to take in on a warp into a new system, come out to a gigantic battle of ships. Didn't last too long as I had some damaged shields, but I was blown away by that one moment. Hoping that happens some more. Was so much fun. Game keeps giving more and more excitement. And i love these crazy designs. Found an alien species that looks like a moving pineapple. What a game, what a great game!

I went back to my home planet last night - I've never had a game give me such a sense of 'coming back home'. It was incredible. I discovered a couple of new animal species that I missed last time, and an Atlas monolith that I never even knew was on the planet. This game is just phenomenal.

Sorry to bother. But i'm asking again for a new page.

I just got a high value curiosity. I should never get rid of it until i find a story beat. Should i. ?
How do i upgrade my ship. ?
Should i sell the Vyken dagger. ?

I can't get waypoints to clear, so I don't use them. Are you sure scanning again is supposed to clear them?
Not sure if when you say scanning again, you mean using L2 again. Look directly at the dot and scan (L3, dunno what PC button is), you have to be pretty darn close.

Not sure if I missed something but how do you find an atlas pass ? I've jumped 3 , systems , travelled countless kilometres and found tons of outposts etc but still never seen an atlas stone .

Also no idea what the atlas wants me to do next , got no waypoints or anything , do I just keep jumping system to system until it shows up again?

Ah ok, thanks! The one thing I've had almost NO luck finding is Multitool upgrades. My starter had like 5 slots, and then I upgraded to a new one with 9, but goddamn. I've found more crashed ships at this point then Multitools.

I'm ashamed to be asking this but how in the hell do you use the grenades!? I built the upgrade at one point but no matter what button I pressed I couldn't seem to switch to them/fire them.

Took about 45 minutes of walking, but I found my way to a terminal and was finally able to recall my frigging ship. I would be really curious to know how in the hell this happened.

I think I found a planet that breaks this game's economy. If you run into a planet called "Treasure Hell Planet", make sure to stop by. Basically, there is a Gravitino Ball thing every 50 ft on this planet. The only thing is that the sentinels are extremely hostile. They attack on sight and you are immediately at 3 stars when you touch one of the gravitinos. But I'm able to grab a bunch of them, fly off and sell them and make over 500,000 for each run.

Yeah there are a few of these hypervaluable resources that are scattered on individual planets with that Sentinel presence. If you keep moving you can make such duckets. Enjoy yourself.

Welp found a hostile planet with a lot of those graviton balls but lots of sentinels who want to kill me as soon as I come out of this small station. Now I'm pissing them off so much they're sending a freaking metal gear rex out at me :(

You can sell them, they're basically treasure. You can upgrade your ship with tech blueprints but in order to get more slots you need a new ship.

Game is fun. I've been waiting for a game like this forever.

Hope one day there are some more multiplayer components but even just alone it's fun to go from planet to planet.
