I think I'm lost or there is some bug.
The last few times I've encountered the
Anomaly
, I chose the
Black Hole
option.
However, in the galactic map, there is no
Black Hole
marker.
Before, I used to find one a few jumps away from where I was, bot now, there is none.

Actually, the same thing happens if I choose the
Atlas
option.
In the galactic map, there is no
Atlas
marker anymore.

Finally started up last night (been away for a few days). Starting planet was irradiated (5 rads outside) but once I got into a routine it's not too tough to deal with - and the place is really mineral rich (lots of gold and... emerine?) which I can sell for a decent return.

Think I'm going to fully explore the planet before moving on, see what I can gather.

Also managed to find a cave and it took forever to find my way out of it - game needs a way of leaving a trail of breadcrumbs!

One question - unless otherwise stated (i.e. gold can be used in a formula, if known) are trade commodities only good for trading? I have a community board (something like that) which I think was in my inventory from the off, but the text suggests some kind of store for historic and cultural information and I'm not sure if it would affect my ability to learn language or something like that?

I use gold mostly for trading. There are a few recipies that require gold but its not to hard to find when you do need it.

Also, as soon as you get yourself the plasma launcher and you find yourself lost in a cave, just blow a hole out of the top of the cave and jetpack out to freedom. This is really helpful should you choose to explore an underwater cave and run out of air.

And caves that come to a dead end almost always have freedom just beyond that last wall so just blow it open.

Seriously. I'm not asking for a detailed map, or in-planet fast travel. I just want some goddamn Dark/Demon's Souls-esque prism stones.

How do I upgrade my exosuit to allow more inventory space? I'm at work at the moment, so can't look just now, but I couldn't see anything obvious when I was playing last night.

When you get Atlas Pass V1 you can also take the left staircase in a spacestation. In the room behind the door is always one upgrade you can buy.
They start at (I think) 30k and get more expensive each time.

Besides There's one trade commodity you want to hang on to,
Atlas Stones
, other than that, yes some trade commodities are used in blue prints later on, but don't hang onto them. You'll start to get what you get where. Also, there's no reason reason to fully explore a planet. It'll just take for ever, and within five minutes on a planet, you've already discovered all the resources it has. All planets have Iron and Carbon, planets with flora have Zinc and Platonium, and there can be up to three different "mountains" of resources per planet, and one crystalized neutral element. You won't find more as you continue to explore, really.

You can also find drop pods on the planets, each one has a suit inventory upgrade.. They will appear as "points of interest" and if you fly at them right you can see them without getting out of the ship...save yourself some time and fuel.

I found it a lot easier with a mouse. The inventory stuff with a controller is terrible so I'll never feel that was the "intended" way. Feels so much more logical with a mouse.

I restarted once on PS4, because I always do that as soon as I get the hang of a huge game. Sure, it's procedural and whatevs but it feels "cleaner" to restart. In Starbound I restarted four times before I was happy with my "gameplay".

You're right, tomorrow I'll restart before going too far...wish I didn't have a24 hours shift today :(

Do gold or emeril ever get a star rating in the galactic trade network? As in can I ever sell them for more than +100% the galactic avg?

If you got lots of money and you find an escape pod with a suit upgrade in it, you can just search the ground while you glide around at low altitude in your ship and look out for some. The pods show up from a much farther distance than most things so they stick out. There will always be more if there was one. An hour of looking around could score you 3 or 4 suit upgrades. It can get expensive.

I sold all my gold and emeril for hours - and then I encountered a recipe for the best (?) warp engines, that require three complex parts and 1000 gold and 1000 emeril. Took ages to collect that, and I kept getting attacked because of my valuable cargo. Luckily, it just takes finding one planet with huge gold boulders. Sometimes you get emeril in those too, but it can also be found in crystal form - scan for "treasure" located next to plutonium reserves underground.

Upgrade pods are scattered about, look for the "shelter" option on beacons and they sometimes track one down. You can also see them pretty easily, they're just small triangular things.

Also, if you do the Atlas route, you'll get an AtlasPass v1 which will
get you into the lounge area to the left in every space station, which has an upgrade option as well.

Also came across a space battle with tons of ships attacking three freighters, but I was out of shield materials so I couldn't stick around. Went down to the planet to fetch some, and when I returned the battle was gone. Oh well.

I also learned to appreciate the mining aspect of the plasma grenades. You can dig right into a cave from the surface, or dig your way out if you get lost. Since there is plutonium in most caves, you have loads of grenades to waste.

Dude, this is just the beginning. In years time, we'll be playing a game like this in virtual reality with lifelike graphics.
I just love it. Jumping into my ship on a planet's surface and zooming into space to be greeted by a galaxy of stars. Shit is just fucking insane. I give no shits about anything else, the fact I can do that is worth my money.

That price is crazy even for a loser like me who spent 2 hours farming Gravitino Balls.

Is there no way to just add inventory slots to you current ship?
I have a 27 slot ship..I'd rather fill in the blanks because I like the layout of my permanent parts.

A few questions I have for anyone kind enough to answer:

1.
I was vaguely following the Atlas path, but I also happened to meet Nada/Polo and asked them to send me through a black hole. Have I now abandoned the Atlas path? Is there a way to get it back? And how do I continue forward, just keep hopping across star systems? How do I know where the centre of the galaxy is?

2. I have literally only found two uni-tools in 25+ hours. What am I doing wrong? Any tips for getting more?

I think you'd be able to find a 30+ slot wrecked ship.

I found a 31 slot wrecked ship after buying a 30 slot ship. Maybe it has to do with some kind of progression before they start showing up. There is definitely a noticeable increase in slots as you get further from the start.

It could be tied to milestones.

I also think the best farming is Emeril farming. Make sure you got a nice mining beam stacked with lots of cooling, intensity and focus upgrades and it will make quick work of a mound of Emeril. If you have a good inventory size then you can land yourself 3 or 4 mil a trip. And no running from the sentinels.

I very much would like the answer to 1 too.

2: It's just your luck but check the panel behind
Polo (the gek)
everytime you meet. There is always a good tier one there.

Do I need an upgrade to name animals/plants/planets? At the moment I'm just scanning them

And I found a shelter on the second planet with a guy giving me warp drive plans - and there is a mining tool on the wall that looks like a huge gears of war style gun - how do I figure out if it's worth upgrading? And if I do, should I dismantle all the old tools upgrades or so they transfer over?

1. Just keep warping to new systems and the
anomaly
will eventually show up again with directions to the next interface.

2. When you find a Korvax star system, a lot of them will have multi tools on their calls in cases. Every time you take one the next time you find one, chances are it will be as nice or better.

No way.
The best farming is the rare items.
Gravitino Balls, Aqua Pods, Venom Sacks and whatever the 4th one is.
They always go for about 25k each.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to find a planet of aqua pods and the going price was 48k each because of the demand.

Have 70mil. Waiting in space station for a bad ass max inventory 48 slots ship. Shit takes time man. All these 20 slot ships are killing me. Go away.

I don't know why but I feel compelled to erase my save and start again, now that I got some hanging on the game I feel like I missed so many great occasions, on the other side being the game procedurally generated means I haven't lost anything....

Don't know what to do...sigh...

Nah dont worry guys, whatever is behind you will only be found again in front of you, and maybe even better

Scan them and go to the "Discoveries" section when you push the Options button. Just upload them...at first its novel to rename shit but its get boring fast. Just name em and if will give you money.

Multi-tool - Hit "Compare" on the lower right and you will see your tools side by side. You can then decide to take it. Your upgrades do not carry over.

Aqua pods are good. I think one slot of Emeril goes for 70-80k and sometimes more depending on the galactic average. If you got a wicked mining beam it doesnt take long at all.

I used to do the venom sacks and gravitino balls but the Emeril, now that I have a bad ass beam, get me the richest the fastest. I made 10 mil today while still getting a bunch of other shit done.

Of course you want a planet with emeril mounds everywhere.

I spent a little over an hour mining Emeril while chatting with buddies and made 3 million units in one haul with my 26 slot ship. https://www.twitch.tv/multiversemob/v/83359071

Making money as you get better tech and closer to center with different "exotic" resources will make it achievable.

To name them you go into the settings/options menu screen and scroll until you see discoveries (on PS4 press options) and then upload from there.

The multi tool is what you are talking about there, you need to compare them and check whether it is worth it via seeing how many slots new one has, whether it has upgraded components etc, and make a choice based on what you want to use the tool for

How fast was gravitino ball farm?

I'm farming Albumen Pearls right now with about 15 minutes per 1.25 million run. They require you to open a plant before picking up but theyre so close to each other that it seems pretty fast to farm.

I made 3.8 million in an hour. Once in a while I found one that was stuck under something and I just moved on to the next one.

Someone just above was apparently making even more just with those pearls. I hadn't really done a grind until this Emeril planet, but I did run into gravatino balls and found a local trade station so I was running around opening them up in a "line" of sorts and then turning around and grabbing them while running from the intergalactic popo, but still. You can see the money making continues to increase as you explore and whatnot!

Anyone?

I don't want to prematurely sell my cargo when a better offer can possibly be found.

At a station right now and they buy gold at +2% the avg price.

Really sucks that you can't find ship inventory slots like you can find suit slots :/
I would've loved to keep my pre-order ship but oh well...

I'm at 27 suit slots now.

What's a good amount of cash to have for getting closer to the galaxy? I just saw that 67mil ship... is that the norm...? Would love to not have to worry about cash because most planets I land on barely have any good resources to farm and sell.
Asking because I just found a planet that spawns loads of
Vortex Cubes
in every single cave but it's tiresome to find outposts that allow trading. Sitting at shy of 3mil now, once I'm done with my current load I'll be closing in on 5mil if I don't find any suit slots on my way to an outpost.
Wish I would've named the planet "Vortex Cube Spawner" but I usually just upload with the default name :/

That feeling when you rush to your ship when it's raining acid, just to hear the rain droping on your cockpit while you're safe...

I declined to follow the Atlas route, but what can I do to get back on it ?

Can't wait to get stuff to claim plants and animals too. I saw some weird shit.

Guys I have a bit of a problem here, if someone can help I'd appreciate it: 20+ hours in the game, warped 12 times... No Atlas stations or Atlas passes! I followed the Atlas path but probably got lost somewhere in the middle of that quest path and now I can't freely jump to red stars on the map (Atlas station I presume?) cause you need warp drive sigma upgrade for that, and on my regular path to the center of the galaxy all systems are, well, yellow. Haven't seen a wormhole or that special station with two Atlas characters either. And I'm pretty 'tight' with both alien races, damn it.

Anyone here with a similar problem?

I did. I chose to learn how they work and went to see one then they showed up later in another star system anyway. Then I went back on the atlas path.

But you might have to run into one by accident if you dont choose to visit one through them.

Yesterday I found a planet that pretty much had nothing but Albumen Pearls and exosuit slot pods, with occasional Monoliths and Emeril piles. I farmed myself like 25 suit slots in about 5 hours, while learning like 60 more words of Korvax language.

I was thinking of leaving the system today, but apparently inventory caps at 48 slots? In that case I might go back to max my exosuit, I left yesterday with 42 slots.

The ones you say are bad are probably, what I'm thinking, are the ones that just look absolutely weird and cool.
