Its great for mining and the boltcaster ruins anything in seconds. The omega impact damage with rapid fire and homing bullets makes it OP for sure.

I did. I chose to learn how they work and went to see one then they showed up later in another star system anyway. Then I went back on the atlas path.

But you might have to run into one by accident if you dont choose to visit one through them.
Thanks man

To name them you go into the settings/options menu screen and scroll until you see discoveries (on PS4 press options) and then upload from there.

The multi tool is what you are talking about there, you need to compare them and check whether it is worth it via seeing how many slots new one has, whether it has upgraded components etc, and make a choice based on what you want to use the tool for

Scan them and go to the "Discoveries" section when you push the Options button. Just upload them...at first its novel to rename shit but its get boring fast. Just name em and if will give you money.

Multi-tool - Hit "Compare" on the lower right and you will see your tools side by side. You can then decide to take it. Your upgrades do not carry over.

Thanks. Game does a good job of obfuscating the controls. Didn't even know I could run until I picked up a 'run for longer' upgrade.

Compare on the multi tool had a price tag so I was wary of paying 40k just to compare. I guess that price is only paid if you keep it?

I hate how every time I find a ship that looks nice and has an increase in slots, it's just a little bit too expensive for me to buy.

A lot of these ship designs are really bad.

Agreed.

Wow, is this like, the ONLY thread where fair and balanced discussion on the game is taking place? Like, people can actually voice their criticisms in a proportioned and civil manner without flame-baiting, inane comparisons, or pitchfork raising?

People come in here, talk about their discoveries, ask questions about things they don't understand, talk about things they don't like or wish had been done better, and move on.

Literally everywhere else the discussion is a complete shit show. And yet, the OT is being branded as a "circle jerk" by people in other threads.

This game incites madness, I tell you!

I was wary of that too but the compare doesn't cost money.
In the next screen you will get an "accept" option.

Learn how to Mele (R1) and Jetpack (X).
It's even better than running.

Quite a few of the Gek monoliths make a mention of the Outer Edge. It would be super cool if 1) you can get to the edge and 2) there is something there.

Great success. Well almost.

Settled on a 45 slot ship for 58 mil.

Couldn't find any better on this station and was tired after almost an hour of checking incoming ships.

Now onward to the core.

I'm just trying to get half a mil to afford a ship and it's taking me hours

Are there actually any scanning upgrades for your ship? I have tons of theta stuff for everything else and zero for that despite the icon begin in the tech panel

If there isn't anything that is high value and easy to farm then just basically stripmine whole planet and sell everything. That way you will make 500k in no time.

Doesn't ship scan use module and upgrades from multi-tool?

Man, only on my third system and the last planet I land on was already discovered. Whomever, it was didn't stay long and I understand why since these storms are insane and the sentinels are on full alert. He only scanned maybe two animals and 3 outposts before bailing from the looks of it. I just can't believe I came so close to "meeting" some one so damn early on. The planet also has one of those "portal" like structures, so I tried messaging the guy on PSN to see if he can warp back and see if anything would happen if we both stood on the structure, but I haven't heard back.

Other than this planet being insanely dangerous with Dinosaurs like creatures with unicorn heads, it's also just fucking filled with gravitino balls. I feel like I'm collected the damn dragon balls the way I'm scouring the planet. This will be my second day on this planet as I'm working my way towards my third crashed site in hopes of finding a better ship. I was planning on just buying one at this large trading post, but these damn suit upgrades are getting expensive.

Fucking hell this game is hard to put down. I'm always like, "ok last outpost", but then I scan an see something not to far off and the cycle just continues lol.

18 Hours played, third System. The first planet here is great. Ice and Overall syrimesque with many different creatures. Also had my first Crash after starting my ship. Still in love with the game, A Little bit to easy, but everything else is like expected.

Because we are actually playing the game and trying to figure shit out.
That Review thread is a total nightmare.

I get a lot of planets that don't give me the goals for 100% (on PC) is that normal? I can scan the things and upload them, but there are no 100% goals.

Mostly moons and shit yeah. They are empty. If a planet has no wildlife its instantly at 100% because there is nothing to discover.

So my suspicion is that the monoliths are related to the portals in some way. Those blue beams must mean something.

In case you didn't know, you can go extremely fast over long distances if you run->melee + jetpack in quick succession.

They really should've given a tooltip on doing this considering slow movement seems to be a common complaint. Not only does that trick make you go dramatically faster, it makes the game movement pretty damn fun on planets.

Just found my first dinosaur.
Found a decent planet that wasn't trying to kill me at every move and a ton of tiny little deer like creatures.

Minding my business minding emeril when I hear a low whale like hum and feel the ground quake. Looked up and a beaked brontosaurus is slowly walking past me.

Walking peacefully amongst dinosaurs is something I've always dreamed of as a kid and always hoped I'd get to do in gaming. This game just gave me honest to goodness feels. I'm 5 Atlas Stones in and don't wanna leave this planet.

Are there animals on the 100%-less planets?
The 100% goals is animals only.
When you go to scan them see if they have a red dot under their body..that means you haven't scanned it yet.

Did anyone figure out how those portal-gate things work?

I was at a set of ruins the other day, and there were these fairly large metallic balls that could roll around when walked into. Meleeing them caused them to fly up a tiny bit and move quicker.

Almost looked to me as if they'd fit perfectly in that hole in a portal-gate thing, but at the time I just assumed it was a glitch and that the ball was supposed to be part of the ruin architecture (until I came across two of them).

I have never seen this but I'm glad you told me about it.
Always nice knowing there is more weird shit out there.

That was unexpected. Just had my first crash while loading the game.
I had like 4 today. I can almost sense when its going to happen now. At one point I was like "please dont crash right now" and BAM, it crashed. Luckily Im always hopping in and out of my ship and dont go for super long crazy hikes otherwise I might be a little more pissed about it.

This game is too big maaan.

Too much to see too much to do. I need to pace myself better because at the moment I feel like I'm flailing around in the void.

I am usually someone who only puts a sp game down once the save file reads 100%. I can never do it in this game and it hurts me.

I literally just saw those now and I thought something was up with them too but couldn't figure it out. Was odd how the balls could be moved and rolled.

I kept getting the warp crash.

I would load in my save go to warp immediately and it would crash.

So after 3 times I just went and did something on a planet to "refresh" the save file and it didn't crash after that.

I wish they would say something about a patch. Sooo many crashes or getting stuck in space after trading :p

Ill stay on a planet if its really nice looking or if it has some valuable resources for a while. Most of the time I land, take a few screens, scan a couple animals, scan for resources in a few areas and if nothing special is happening, I'm off to the next planet. There is too much cool shit out there to be spending too much time on one planet.

I cant leave a system without landing on every moon and planet though.

They did actually
We’re tracking a number of issues, bugs and crashes that players are reporting, and working to resolve as soon as possible.

The number of people players, and length of average play session, has been far more than our small team could have anticipated. That said, we’re working quickly to adapt.

We sincerely apologise to anyone affected in the meantime.

Here are some things to be aware of:

  • We’ve brought a new QA team on board today (larger than the entire Hello Games team!). This will complement the existing Sony QA team.
  • We are working on fixes for the most critical issues, which will be in a patch in the near future.
  • We will be moving to a ticketed support system next week, and have hired someone to manage this starting Monday.
  • Some information will be posted in the Sony forums here http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Games-Services/bd-p/22190
  • Or contact Hello Games here http://www.no-mans-sky.com/support/
http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/issues/

Really thought I would like naming stuff but I'm not enjoying it at all. Probably gonna stop doing it. :/
I only name special stuff. Rare resources rich planets, incredibly stupid or cool looking creatures and the real nice lush planets. So like 10% of my discoveries.
