OP's obsession/fetish for review numbers is really the most interesting thing in the thread. I agree there is some kind of "objective" number we can suss out by the rules the media plays by, but that should be another reason not to give a shit about them: it does have as much to do with marketing and politics - if not more so - than subjective experience, and even then the subjective space is prone to politicization, grandstanding and career-making.

Reading game reviews is like being a private eye sifting through someone's garbage for information pertaining to the case. We shouldn't be worried about the state of the garbage.

Props to IGN for being honest. Every review I read is complaining about how "not fun" it is, frustrating and boring....but they end up giving it a 9 or 9.5 for "respect to kojima reasons". Just be honest and review it without bias.

Its a GOOD thing that AAA games like this, that for years have gotten a free pass for their many faults, are getting more thorough critiques. The overpraising of games such as this, just because they have a big name developer attached to them or millions was spent on development, that went on for many a year, is largely responsible for the decline in video game game-play quality. As it has enabled them to continue to get away with producing such mediocrity for far to long. I just wish more big name critics had the balls to point out the negatives that so many of these games exude.

I think rants against a review score would be better served with specific retorts to the substance of the review. Maybe calling it a clickbait review is warranted, and maybe not.
